Tracking Member Attendance...Why Do You Need To Know❓ 🤔

Fitness studios should track weekly attendance to spot members likely to cancel. If one coach consistently draws fewer people than another teaching the same class, that's a sign to survey members or improve the instructor. Attendance data turns into retention and profit.

Today I want to talk to you about the track attendance metric. I talk about this in my book, and I was recently on a webinar with Watify, and we talked about this metric. So in the book, I talk about the importance of tracking attendance. You want to look at your attendance for the week, and you're not looking at necessarily everybody who attended. What you're looking at are members who didn't attend or members who only came in once. Tracking attendance can be a key predictive indicator, meaning this one could predict members who are likely going to cancel because they're not using your services. Tracking attendance Can benefit you because it can help you also identify coaches who your members are not jiving with. So here's a scenario. You could have, say it's your Wednesday at 5:30 PM class, and one week you have Bill coach it, and the next week Jill coaches it. And you notice that when Bill coaches the Wednesday 5:30 class, there's on average 2 or 3 members that show up. When Jill coaches the 5:30 Wednesday class, there's 10 members that show up. Or you may find when any coach other than Bill is coaching that class, that specific class, About 10 members are showing up. What that data is telling you is that your members are not jiving with Bill, and you might want to put out some feelers and do some anonymous surveys and ask about feedback on your coaches. Now, it's important on this metric, um, that we're comparing the same day and the same time of the day. So it's not fair to say to Bill Hey, when you teach the noon class, 1 or 2 members show up, but when Jill teaches the 5:30 class, 10 people show up. So clearly members don't like you. That's not fair. It's gotta be same day, same time slot. And if you have different coaches in those different slots, then you can track how your members are responding to it. Because at the end of the day, if your members are leaving because there's a coach they don't wanna see or they're a coach they're avoiding, That is not a productive expense. A coach that isn't contributing to retention is someone that you either need to work with and improve, or you need to get rid of. But certainly you can't accept everything staying status quo. So I hope that helps with tracking attendance as a metric. Remember, profitability is a choice. Be financially resilient.
