Jason M. Lemkin's SaaS product 10K makes 40,000 API calls daily. Vendors historically didn't charge for API access, but some now want $240,000 a year for that volume. Older platforms like Marketo struggle with the load while newer services like Supabase charge less.

It's probably closer to 40 across all the applications that 10K touches each day. Now, 10K does this. It's interesting because it's not constrained because it hasn't ever, none of our vendors have really charged for API access. We overuse it. You know, 40,000 API calls honestly cost nothing if you look at like what Supabase charges. But for a lot of older B2B apps, like that broke Marketo, like Marketo couldn't handle the number of API calls we did, right? This pre-AI version. So, you know, what do you do? But if you start charging, materially for this access. If you're going to charge us $1 per access and you're going to charge us, you know, so we don't know exactly what some of our vendors are going to charge us, but we got one estimate. It might be as much as $240,000 a year to use 10K the way we're doing it. Well, we're not going to, we're not, we're not a Fortune 10 company. We're not going to pay $240,000 a year. We're not going to quadruple what we're paying a vendor just to get the API.
