Sandra Abrams shares two stories about QR codes at crypto conferences. At an early event, a QR code prompt to download a wallet scared her away. Years later at Permissionless, she avoided another QR code and missed joining a decentralized social network. Now she wears a QR-code bracelet and wants to hear your stories.

Tick Tock says that they want longer videos. They want people to be curious about what you're talking about, like, peak your curiosity. I don't know how to pique your curiosity. Are you curious yet? I don't know. And they want storytelling. Do you want a story? I can tell a story. There was a time I didn't understand QR codes. My very first crypto event I went to, it was like a dinner. Just like three or four hours in one room. There was like, maybe 150, 200 chairs and a stage, and there was a woman on stage talking about cryptocurrency and. Which I already understand about. Something for you to learn about. What is cryptocurrency? Takes five minutes a day to learn. So anyway, I was sitting there, and then these next people come up, and they talk about their particular cryptocurrency token, their coin. And they said, look at the screen. And on the screen in the back, there was a QR code. And they said, put your phone up and click on this QR code, and it downloads automatically. Your. Their wallet. Their wallet for their coin. And they gave everybody, like, $10 worth of their coin. And then they said, connect your bank and then you can buy more. I had no idea what that meant. It scared the daylights out of me. So I got up and left. I'm like, are you kidding me? This sounds too weird. But I mean, people blindly, they didn't know anything about cryptocurrency. They were coming to learn about it, just like me. Everybody, like, lifted their phone. So everybody had this coin. Never heard of it again. No telling how much money they put in. Maybe 100 to 200. And there was four or 500 people over and over again. These people are doing this every weekend. I did go out to the different booths. I got to meet a few people, talk to a few people. That's not the end of the story. A few months later, I go to this amazing convention, this conference, this crypto conference, and these people, and we're talking. There's like a thousand people in this room. I mean, it's a huge room. It's called Permissionless. It was fabulous. And let me tell you, my mind was blown. QR code. Back to the story. In this room with a thousand people, these people were on stage, said, hey, click on this QR code behind me. And I'm like, oh, no. Hell no. This is crazy. Two weeks later, I find out that particular QR code was for decentralized social media. First thousand people to join. I missed out because I didn't understand QR codes. Do you not think I begged the founder through DMS on Twitter to get me a handle for that protocol for that social media? Heck, yeah, I did. I got QR codes now. I have a bracelet that has a QR code on it that you can use your phone. Click on that QR code, and you get every link of mine whatsoever. QR codes. That's my story. What's yours?
