EMFs: Are You Still Ignoring This Environmental Factor with Sachin Patel and Nicolas Pineault

Sachin Patel and Nicolas Pineault discuss electromagnetic fields as an overlooked environmental toxin. EMF exposure activates voltage-gated calcium channels, triggering oxidative stress and symptoms like fatigue, sleep problems, and brain fog. Simple steps include airplane mode, hardwiring internet, turning off Wi-Fi at night, and keeping phones out of pockets.

Okay, friends, now we're going to switch gears, and we're going to be talking about something that is invisible to you, however, plays such an important role in all of us who are trying to build a virtual practice, spending more time indoors, trying to build our practices up, and trying to build the backends of what we do and also communicate to our clients. This invisible force is emf, and it can be a force for good because it helps us do our work and it helps us stay connected. However, it's something that we need to be highly aware of in the implications it has on our own personal health, our family's health, our sleep, and all that good stuff that we're trying to do to be healthy, but also how it affects our clients and what we have. Today is a presentation from Nick Pinault, who is one of the leading experts on emf, especially for functional medicine practitioners. He's going to give us a practical viewpoint on things that we can do, the things that we need to be aware of, so that not only are we living healthier, more congruent lives, but we're also identifying hidden sources of toxicity. You know, we're all aware of blue light, which is a visible toxin. We're all aware of the toxins in our food and the food supply and in our water and in the air that we breathe. However, many of us may not be aware of EMF and what to do about it. So, Nick, thank you for joining us. I know this is a topic that's very near and dear to you and. And it's very near and dear to me as well. You know, my computer right now and every computer that I use in my house is hardwired. I try to stay away from my devices as much as I possibly can, and I try to practice conscientious, you know, utilization of technology. And so thank you for doing all the research and the work that you're doing and sharing it with our community members. I greatly appreciate it and would love for you to take us on a journey, take us on this deep dive and, you know, share with us what you've uncovered over the years of doing this work and tell us how we can protect ourselves and. And also our family members and our patients. But before we do that, I always like to understand people's origin story. So what got you into the world of EMF and took you down this rabbit hole?
Yeah, it was basically I started writing about health in around 2009 and mainly focused on nutrition at the time, wanting to educate myself about nutrition. And I didn't really know anything about blue light or these kind of things. I did hear about these glasses and there's some news to these, these glasses blocking the light from my screen right now during the day and at night even more importantly. Right. But I didn't know these things, didn't understand frequency and any of these things. I understood vitamins and minerals and the paleo diet and I wrote about these, these things that weren't really talked about back in 2010 that much. And I really stumbled upon the topic of EMFs in 2015 when I started reading several books by very highly esteemed scientists like Dr. Deborah Davis or Dr. Martin Blank from Columbia University who unfortunately passed away. But he was a researcher with more than 30 to 40 years of peer reviewed publications and he was both someone who understood the biology and the physics of EMFs. And his discourse was very different from everything we hear about emf. EMF being, you know, oh, cell phones might have a link with brain cancer, but this is undecided. Or the literature isn't, isn't strong enough or the link has not been confirmed. Right. We're really hearing that there's still uncertainty when it comes to EMS. But Dr. Blank and many of the of his colleagues were talking about hundreds of scientists around the world really thought otherwise. And they said, no, there's clear danger, there's clear need to follow the precautionary principle and start reducing our exposure right now. And it was a very different discourse from what we hear in the mainstream and even from cancer societies or public health agencies. So I was very curious being someone that's, let's say, naturally contrarian. I said, oh, maybe these scientists are being silenced in a sense. And it turns out that of course the classic thing I discovered is that the industry has a big influence over the EMF science. Many EMF scientists got defunded when they started publishing results that EMFs can be dangerous under a certain set of conditions. For example, if you talk about on the ear for several minutes every day and I really opened up a can of worms because then I realized talking with some of my colleagues and among in the years, many of my colleagues were functional medicine doctors and I started talking about EMFs and many of them were in disbelief, to be honest or skeptical, said, oh really? There's, where's the science behind your claim? It's kind of big that all this time wi fi routers or cell phones or everyday appliances that are now part of life, you know, all these wireless gadgets, we hand them to our kids. How could it Be that we've missed this even in functional medicine. And this is when I started gathering information from certain functional medicine doctors that are in the environmental toxicity world, environmental medicine. And for these people with these specialties in particular, there was no doubt in their mind that EMs were an environmental toxin. And for people in functional medicine in general, there was still a little bit of a doubt. Mold, for sure it's a toxin. Glyphosate, for sure it's a toxin. Sugar, too much, for sure it's a toxin. But emfs, the. There was still a little bit of uncertainty. So I really dedicated myself in the last five to six years now writing about ems, creating courses, including a practitioner level course, and really mingling with some of the best functional medicine doctors who understand EMS and trying to understand how can we spread that message to all functional medicine doctors. Because anyone who is holistically minded needs to understand EMF and needs to have the tools in mind to communicate these dangers to their patients or clients.
Yeah, and I just want to acknowledge that we have to come into this and approach this topic with a beginner's mind. Because listen, don't shoot the messenger. Don't be upset with what we covered today. I know I'm going to probably be like, oh my God, I need to change this immediately. We are spending more time in front of our computers, there's no doubt. We are spending more time immersed in these frequencies. So we need to be conscientious of what they do to us. And just like there's big pharma, which does great things, right, allows society to move forward, there's also a dark side. And just like with telecommunications, this is a multi, multi billion dollar industry. So you have these huge forces at play that do not want this information to come out, that do not want people to have awareness because that slows down their progress. And it's quite unfortunate.
But that's the reality of the world.
That we live in. So the, you know, I was, you know, reflecting on our conversation before, you know, we even jumped on and I'm thinking about my son, right. This is the first generation of people who are growing up wirelessly. Like when we were young, we had wired phones, like even our gaming controllers were wired, our mouses were wired. So this is like a huge experiment. We don't know what the long term implications are just yet. And certainly what you're going to present today is research that's been done for many decades.
Right.
This isn't new information, it's probably suppressed information or information that we don't want to hear because we are so attached to our beloved devices. So, you know, what I want to talk about today are practical solutions, things that we can do to perhaps identify if EMF toxicity is something that's affecting us and our clients in a significant way. And then what are mitigation strategies that we can use? I mean, I wish it was as easy as just putting on some glasses.
Right.
And jokingly, it's like the tinfoil hat thing.
Right.
If we could just put on our tinfoil hats and. And then that solves a problem. But there's more to the story, so let's dive right in. I know you've got a presentation to share, and I'm so grateful for this conversation. So thank you for, for sharing this information with us, which I know is something you're really passionate about.
Thanks for having me. Yeah, I'm excited.
Let me see.
Let me know if you see the screen of my presentation. We're good?
Yes, we're good to go.
So emfs, an environmental toxin you cannot ignore. And this is really my main message, is not necessarily EMF is the sole environmental toxin that matters, but for sure, it is one of the most often ignored environmental toxins. It's easy to miss because, again, it's not the most popular one. And there's a lot of disbelief or skepticism, even among functional medicine practitioners, that this is an issue. And I'm going to show you where the science is at to really show you that there's a lot of substance behind EMF. And there's as. As you said, Dr. Patel, there's decades of research, starting in the late 50s from the military, that we can track back on EMF exposure and what it does, especially to military personnel who at the time were exposed by a lot of radar. Nowadays, we're not exposed by radar so much, but you can replace radar by cell towers and cell phones and wi fi and other things. And these are exposures that can be equivalent, especially if we use wireless devices a lot. The most important researchers to follow when it comes to EMF dangers are people who study environmental medicine. In the case of all of these scientists, including many scientists that are highly published, like Belyaev from Russia or Oberfeld, they published as part as the Europaem, that's the European Academy for Environmental Medicine. They published an EMF guideline in 2016. They call it for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of EMF related health problems and illnesses. You can see the research gate links there. And this is the entire presentation. I have the clickable links in there. So I'll make sure. Dr. Patel, if we can send practitioners the PDF, it would make their life a little bit easier if they want to verify these links, basically what it says and just taking a quote here, it seems necessary now to take new exposures like electromagnetic fields into account because it's part of life and it's part of the new stressors that we're increasingly exposed to in today's society. So it just makes sense, right? In the European Academy for Environmental Medicine, EMF is part of the different factors that we need to look in the environment of our clients or patients to assess how much stress are they exposed to and how can we support them in making their environment a more healing and health supporting one rather than a stressful environment. One of the doctors that has been influential to my growth as a digital journalist and someone who talks about it, about very unpopular topic of EMFS is Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, who's always at a very cutting edge. She's an MD, PhD. Many people listening to this are very familiar, familiar with his work and what he said in an interview. In personal conversations we had, he said this. I can pretty much divide my patient population in the middle, the group that gets better and the group that one budge, no matter what they do, protocols or different interventions to try to help them. And of course, these patients, we're talking about very chronically ill patients. And the second group is one budge or is getting worse. And the group that's getting better is the people who follow my recommendations to reduce EMF exposure. It is that black and white. So it is a big claim. When I heard that, it really shocked me because I said, okay, well obviously we're talking about a very sensitive population. We're not necessarily talking about practitioner or health coaches that are seeing athletes, people in great health with blood tests or overall testing that look pristine. These people will not. You won't necessarily see that black and white difference. But when it comes to people that have already seen 30, 40 other practitioners before, Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, he often is a last line kind of guy that looks at Ms. Or Alzheimer's cases or very. True. A lot of people in functional medicine do see these complex cases. And oftentimes most patients have seen a lot of more mainstream or conventional specialists before and they cannot really figure out what is the root cause. So a little bit more about me. I'm from Montreal, Canada. You can see me on this there. It was taken in the summer because as we talked about about, there's snowstorms these days. But I'm still in Montreal. Even regardless of the harsh, the harsh winters, I still love it. I'm the best selling author of the Non Tinfoil God EMS and also have a course for health practitioners called Electrosmog Rx. And my work around EMS has been endorsed by many top health authorities like Dr. Mercola, Dr. Ben Lynch, Dr. Tom O', Brien, this Dr. Ted Akakoso who also practices in the UK, France and also in Manila, also in the US and many more. So a lot of people in environmental medicine and what I wanted to show you today is how EMFs act in synergy with chemicals to disrupt human biology. So it will also help you think of EMF as not a single stressor, but as a stressor that makes other stressors even worse. So, so it is also considered at the moment in research as a potential cocarcinogen, which means that you might be exposed to a certain substance and there's no effect. However, substance +EMF, for example, lead exposure + EMF, it looks like the body cannot recuperate so they become co carcinogens together. And that's one of the ways that EMFs might be problematic for your patients. How to identify which patients are the most affected. Because of course you want to. If you have 50 or 100 different factors to look at in your health intakes when you take a new person in your clinic or practice, you want to know, okay, well, is it, is it an EMF patient per se? Well, where you know that they have such sensitivity that EMF needs to be part of their protocol right away and how to help your patients reduce their EMF exposure and how to reduce EMF exposure for yourself to of course walk the talk yourself as a health practitioner. So let's start with some basic things that are still very important to remember. That's the electromagnetic spectrum. EMF is not one thing. It's an entire spectrum of frequencies that, that are found everywhere in nature. And also some frequencies that are now man made and have been added in the last few decades to few hundred years. If we're talking about the introduction of static electricity, about in the 1750s where many people started experimenting with that and then we had the telegram and electrification of civilization. So you have the very low frequencies, such as electricity, up to the very high frequencies, nuclear radiation or even in the medical usage of x rays, for example, and we have a slice of it that is visible, which is why we know that these EMFs are part of the visible spectrum. We can block them with a pair of glasses and there's benefit to that as well. Because of course, if we talk about excessive blue light at night or during the day, this would also be considered an EMF exposure. And we know that these EMF exposures are at the Moment A Class 2A probable carcinogen since 2019. Not blue light in itself, but circadian rhythm disruption following a lifestyle where you work at night, so shift work. So that's an extreme example where you are exposed to blue light all night long. But we know that this is highly problematic for the human being when you will disrupt the circadian rhythm in such a profound way.
I think that's important, if I may add, I think that's really important for us to have multi layered thinking as functional medicine practitioners do. Maybe it's not the direct effect of blue light, it's the indirect effect of blue light that we need to be conscientious of and concerned of. So when somebody pushes back, you know, we need to push back and say, hey, this is disrupting normal biological rhythms which are essential for the production of melatonin and deep sleep, proper immune function. And you know, nowadays, like we're spending more time than ever on our screens. Maybe we're up late, you know, in addition to what we're watching, it's also the impact of what we're watching. The frequencies that are coming out of that screen or the imbalanced frequencies that are coming out of that screen are further disrupting not only our circadian rhythm, but what we're watching on the screen also matters. If you're watching a violent movie late at night with a scary or negative message in combination with disrupting your rhythm, I mean, it's going to have a compound effect. So as practitioners, we need to think not just in a linear way, we need to think in a multi layered way as to how this affects ourselves and also our clients as well.
That's a great point. And the way I'm why I'm talking about blue light first is there's no doubt in the mind of eye doctors, ophthalmologists, that blue light is disruptive. There's arguments, does it lead to macular degeneration too early in life, Kind of premature aging of the eye. There's still arguments against and for that in science when I did literature review from, let's say two years ago. But still the fact that it disrupts sleep and that it can lead, for example, to eye strain or uncomfortable feelings when you stare at screens is pretty clear. So much that my eye doctor, who was not really holistically minded, told me to get blue light filters on my new prescription lenses two, two or three years ago and I was very pleasantly surprised. So it means that it's, it's getting into the mainstream the idea that unnatural EMFs. So having a screen send unnatural signals that are not signals that are very strong. It's in the visible spectrum, right? And no one would argue that visible light is, is a danger to human beings because we, we can see and no one is necessarily getting damage from natural sources of light such as candlelight or the sun. However, if we mess around with lighting and we put it in the form of a screen with very high levels of blue light compared to other colors, so the balance is wrong, then the human eye maybe is not accustomed to that. So when we temper with EMFs, we, we already know that there's an effect, there's the natural EMFs and we know that we can also be overexposed to even natural emf. So there's also those response relationship there. For example, if you get in the sun, you might get burned, but if you get just enough, we know that it's so protective via the creation of vitamin D on the skin, for example. We also know that, that there's a big part of the spectrum that can be called man made ems. And this part of the spectrum has been exploding in its intensity and also in its variety in the last few decades, especially the last decade alone, I must say, since the advent of the iPhone, when we talk about having a smartphone and using it a lot. So a lot of the exposure closer to the body, this is this entire spectrum going from 0 Hz and the frequency that runs in the Wall is around 60Hz in North America and 50Hz in most of the rest of the world. But it goes up to, let's say most common WI FI exposure nowadays would be around 5.8 GHz. And nowadays we have the 5G networks that might use millimeter waves up to 30 or even higher, 30 GHz or even higher than that. So that entire spectrum is becoming saturated increasingly with man made EMFs. And just a way to think about this. Why are EMF safety guidelines not protective? Because that's the main issue. If you think they are protective, you could wrongfully conclude that, well, all these exposures are within safety guidelines. So why are we even having a conversation about it? Well, first, the blue light exposures that we have are still within the safety guidelines, right? It's not been regulated to have screens with less blue light. At least I'm not aware of this regulation. So it still hasn't translated from the clinical research to mainstream understanding that blue light is a problem to policy. And oftentimes there's a lag, sometimes 20 to unfortunately 40 years sometimes between the research, the scientific, let's say quote, quote, unquote consensus on certain issues and then the policy that follows. Because we'll need to regulate the tech industry because it's hurting our eyes. Right? So the same thing is happening with EMFs and we're far behind on policy at the moment. The SAR testing, that's the specific anthropomorphic or that's the SEM. The guy on the right is specific anthropomorphic mannequin SCR is specific absorption rate and that's the testing they do on phones. But it only looks at the thermal effects of EMF radiation. We do know that there's non thermal effect, for example blue light. Again going back to my example, the blue light doesn't have a thermal effect on the eye, but it's well established that there is an effect. So it is a non thermal effect. So unfortunately when it comes to EMFs, all the EMF safety guidelines are based on the wrong assumption that only thermal radiation matters. It's also a very short term exposure depending on where it's tested, full body exposure or on the head, it's six to 30 minutes. Well, we know that many users, most users these days use their devices close to the body for hours on end. If we include wearing a cell phone on your person, for example in a pocket or, or in the bra or sports bra when it comes to many women. So our exposure is certainly not short term. And the test dummy had just something that completely shocked me when I started reading about EMFs and understanding that oh my God, this is completely deprecated. The test dummy had that is used to test your cell phone is bigger than 97% of cell phone users. It's based on a 6 foot 2 to 230 pound military men and certainly not Nick Pinault who's 5455 on a good day. So it is not a head equivalent to me, which means that when I use a phone I'm overexposed compared to the standard. So it's for sure it doesn't account for the fact that most children use this technology because they have a way smaller head than I do. Including nowadays 2 year olds, 3 year olds or even younger might have a phone to their head or an iPad right next to their skulls. The non thermal biological effects are completely ignored. So it is important to ask yourself the question, well, are there indications that there is such thing as the non thermal biological effects? And if we look at many, many different studies, for example, there's Yakimenko and Al in 2016 who reviewed the oxidative mechanisms of biological activity of the low intensity radio frequency radiation, what does it mean? Well, it's Quite simple. There's 100 currently available peer reviewed studies dealing with oxidative effects of radiofrequency radiation. That's your WI Fi, Bluetooth, cell phone cell towers, 93 of them confirmed that it induces oxidative stress. So I would call it personally an overwhelming majority of the studies on oxidative damage that say yes, it happens. So there is a mechanism. Then we could argue is it too much oxidative stress? But that's another question. But for sure the mechanisms are there. If we ask people doing epidemiology, cancer and EMFs, especially cell phone exposure and brain tumors being the strongest data we have, Dr. Anthony Miller and a few colleagues said that based on the data we had in when they wrote this in 2018, around three years ago now these experimental findings together with the epidemiology reviewed here are sufficient in our opinion to upgrade the classification that we currently have, which is a class 2B carcinogen for radiofrequency radiation to a group 1. And as an example, what's in the group 1, a class 1 carcinogen at the IR, that's a branch of the World Health Organization. That would be tobacco smoke and asbestos. So if these researchers are right and Anthony Miller is not anyone, he's at the top of his field in epidemiology for cancer and many agents. So it's for him is just another agent to look at this. Independent review of data says it should be reclassified right now. That was three years ago as a Class 1 carcinogen. So if it were a Class 1 carcinogen, then most practitioners listening to this would already be horrified saying, my God, we're installing all these devices in our homes, but it is a known carcinogen. So we would act in a more prudent manner if it were a Class 1 carcinogen. And of course we might even see that classification on your, an iPhone that you purchase, for example. So it would be a little bit less cool to have a very nice iPhone and pay $2,000 for it and have a photo of a brain tumor on there. But who knows, Maybe this is where this is going. This is where the science is going for sure. Was the mechanism and how is it that all these EMFs could harm the human body. The main mechanism looks to be the activation of a special type of voltage gated calcium channels, the VGCCs. And this is a mechanism that is similar to how most chemicals are harming the human body, including lead and many heavy metals. And that's my current understanding. This is what Dr. Paul shares because Dr. Martin Paul from the Washington State University has also studied chemical sensitivity and in his mind these mechanisms are similar and it goes through the creation of peroxy nitrite. O N O O minus and peroxy nitrite is a nitrogen species that is extremely harmful to the cell and mitochondria. So it could be the case that according to Dr. Paul, this is, this is let's say, his main theory at the moment that these low level ems do not directly impact the cell in the sense that it is not ionizing radiation. It does not directly break bonds between molecules the way that X rays would. And we know that X rays should be used sparingly and it's good that we've established that in medical science. However, now we're using these low level EMFs such as cell phone radiation or WI fi in a non sparingly manner. It's pretty much the opposite. We use it all day, every day, thinking that there's no effect. But the effect could be indirect. It's not directly harming the cell, but it is leading to the creation of that peroxy nitrite, which in turn is a key molecule in health and disease. So when there's too much peroxy nitrite the cell needs to compensate with antioxidants. And over time you have a reduction of antioxidant reserves such as glutathione and also a reduction in cellular energy production. So a downregulation of mitochondrial health, if you will. So excessive VGCC activation. It's known now that this can disrupt healing by promoting chronic inflammation, impairing mitochondrial function, disrupting sleep and as I've said, depleting antioxidant reserves. And what then it's important to also think about what are the combined effects of this non ionizing electromagnetic radiation combined with other agents. As I've alluded to at the beginning of the presentation, there might be a synergy between EMFs and other toxins that your patients or clients are exposed to. What Costa and colleagues said? Well, a single stressor experiments as the main determinants for safety exposed exposure may be insufficient from these potentially toxic contributing factors. And at the moment there is no reason to believe that any of the exposure limits on potentially toxic stimuli that has been set by any regulatory agencies are protective against serious health effects. Why does he say that? Well, he says if you have lead plus glyphosate, it's not the same thing as saying you have lead. So, so the limit on lead might, might be, might have to be lowered considering the mere fact that everyone is exposed to glyphosate, for example. But these synergies, these toxic synergies are not taken into consideration. And when he said, well, if, if we, if we identified, or he, Dr. Kostoff identified around 1,000 possible contributing factors to 4,000 diseases in his 2015 book. And he said, okay, well if we studied 1,000 potential synergies of EMF and then three other contributing factors, sort of four component synergy, we would need 166 million experiments. So I'm just going to skip that part. But he said, well, unfortunately such an undertaking, kind of studying the interactions between all these stressors in our environment, even with Manhattan Project urgency, would take years. So we need the moratorium on the new cell tower constructions and the rollout of new technologies because the damage will have been done by the time the results are produced. And isn't that what happened with many agents that were introducing in that environment? So that's a question of precautionary principle, right? So we know at the moment, we know enough to, to start reducing exposure. And there's no way we'll be able to know what are all these toxic synergies. So as an overall principle of holistic healing, it's to clean your environment and to remove as many offenders as possible. Even if we do not know for sure what is the safe level of ems, because we do not know, I cannot be here and claim, oh, a safe level of EMF would be talking on a phone for just 32 minutes. At the 33rd minute it starts being dangerous for long term health of your brain, for example. We do not have such data. In fact, what we do have is just a big black box of uncertainty that says certain people are extremely sensitive. Certain people do develop tumors when they talk on the phone for years or generally it's over years or decades of exposure that the real problems manifest themselves, especially the ones that might harm help to the point of killing someone, like a glioblastoma, for example. But we do not have data on the very short term damage or the medium term damage. So as an overall principle, just like you probably already recommend your patients or clients to reduce all toxins we should reduce even EMF exposure and apply the Alura principle as low, as reasonably achievable, which is the number one principle used for nuclear radiation exposure. So, in other words, if you have less exposure is always better than more exposure, especially if that exposure did not lead to benefits. So an example before I move on is, do you need WI fi at night? Well, the answer is no. You're sleeping, you're not using Wi Fi, and yet your WiFi router, chances are, if you're listening to this and like the average person, it's still on. So it's still emitting radiation in your home and being a potential stressor. Hence, if we apply the Alara principle, it would state, well, there's no benefit to having WI fi at night, so the WI fi should be turned off at night. That's one of the ways you can think about EMFs. Just how can we minimize our exposure in our everyday life? But one important question is this. How can I identify which patients or clients are the most affected? Because this is not a linear response. People affected by a syndrome called the microwave sickness syndrome, also called the electro hypersensitivity. There's many, many different experts that would call it different things, but microwave sickness is one of them. You have the top five symptoms are very, very, let's say, standard or very common in most people for most conditions. Fatigue, sleep disturbance, headaches or migraines, brain fog, and depression or anxiety. So it's very hard to pinpoint, oh, this is a sensitive client or patient. So because they have fatigue. Well, it might be a thousand different factors, but for sure, EMF is a contributor to these very commonly seen symptoms on an everyday basis. Memory loss is also big, and we all know that memory loss in a premature way is exploding in modern society, leading to dementia, Alzheimer's or other neurodegenerative conditions, unfortunately. But also the most sensitive patients have visual disruptions or light sensitivity, and they can also have skin problems, including in, in the case of the most fortunate, in a sense, in a twisted sense, the most fortunate are able to say and to see that an exposure. For example, I open my computer, it's on WI fi, and I develop a skin irritation. So literally, some people can have a skin rash that is the equivalent of a WiFi or cell phone allergy. And this is closely linked with the mast cell activation that many practitioners are seeing being problematic in their clients. I don't remember exactly if there is literature on that, but the closest thing we have is, is the screen dermatitis syndrome that was identified in the 80s or even before by Professor Holly Johansson from Sweden. And he found that even if people did not get skin rashes from exposure to a TV screen because there was UV radiation and also electric fields emitted by a screen, he found that there was still a histamine reaction in the skin even in healthy participants and even in healthy participants who did not get any symptoms, other symptoms. The only symptom that the experience was boredom, as he told me, because the experiment was staring at a wall for two hours while you were exposed in your back by a TV screen. So it was pretty boring. But overall, even healthy participants, you could see that their, their skin told the entire story that the body can have skin reactions, a sort of low grade inflammatory skin condition. In the most extreme examples though, it can be seen by people or they can have itching even from WI fi or cell phone exposure. So if you see that in your practice, do not be in disbelief. It might be the case that this person has a strong histamine reaction that is akin to a food allergy but to signals, which is. I still have a hard time believing it, but it is commonly seen among practitioners who see emf. Hypersensitive patients. Heart palpitations is also very telling whether it's Dr. Steven Sinatra or Dr. Wolfson cardiologists that are more holistically minded. They both have said in multiple interviews, including personal conversations, that they see patients regularly with heart palpitations or certain heart troubles. And some of them is directly linked with having a phone in the shirt pockets right next to the heart. It is important to note that very recently there's been studies and let's say, criticism of Apple because of their new MagSafe technology starting in the iPhone 11, if I'm not mistaken. That's a strong magnet that can help charge a phone, if I'm not mistaken. But whatever the reason why it's there, it is interfering with Peacemaker technology. And so much so that in a study they said this could lead to harmful events, including death. So they said it is quite important that Apple starts telling people with pacemakers that, that they should never have a phone right next to the Peacemaker. Well, considering the peacemaker interferes with the signal and vice versa, and is triggered or doesn't trigger normally, doesn't function normally because of the MagSafe technology. If there's a phone right next to the heart, we could also say, well, maybe it is also interfering with a normal heart rhythm. And this is also seen especially in people who could be called hypersensitive. A lot of people also have dizziness and oftentimes it's, it's a condition where it's, it might be combined with low aldosterone or people that have very, very aggravated adrenal function. So they, they might have exposures and feel dizzy and have a hard time concentrating. It's a whole slew of symptoms. But we know that researchers such as Dr. Magda Havis said there's 3% of the population have severe symptoms related to EMF and another 35%, let's say a third of all of the entire population may have mild to moderate symptoms of electrohypersensitivity ahs when exposed to electrosmog. And the people in this group can function normally, but they might have headaches, difficulty sleeping, and are living a life compromised by increasingly poor health. And this could be said for the majority of the population really. So it's, it's difficult to pinpoint what is the percentage of people that is being affected, but you can bet that this is a large fraction of the population. Although most people don't realize they are sensitive or they are symptomatic from these exposures before they start reducing these exposures. Just like the way it happens with gluten or certain food allergens, where you do not necessarily realize that you were affected in the first place before you stop having that exposure for several days or weeks. And then you realize that the body is able to calm down and be asymptomatic. So it's important when you see clients or patients that you add a few questions to your intakes when it comes to tech use, especially EMF exposure. So when it comes to cell phones, for example, you might, you might ask, do you own a cell phone? It's pretty much a non question. Most people do. But where do you use it on the ear, speakerphone, do you text? And for how many hours on an average day? Because it might be closely related to certain dysfunction that you might see. The classic example I told you about a few minutes ago is the phone on the heart. Symptoms on the heart. Well, pretty easy to sometimes do an experiment and say, well, maybe stop putting it on your shirt pocket. And do you have a difference in your heart palpitations? Yes. Okay, well, we know the phone was a potential culprit and now we've kind of fixed it. But if it's on the head, it might be a headache that is triggered by a phone. But also for men or women alike, you, if there's a phone in the pocket, it might be linked to a Loss, infertility, or even hormonal disruption. Although the science is not as clear when it comes to that. When it comes to the WI FI router, for example, where is the WiFi router in your home? Do you turn it off at night? Most people don't. So you can educate them with the importance of turning it off at night for better sleep. But you would be surprised of how I've heard from functional medicine doctors aware of EMS that that, well, this patient couldn't sleep at night, they had a WI FI router installed under the bed. It is the wrong spot for a wifi router for sure because it directly impairs sleep, even if it is installed at the other side of your home. So imagine what it can do if it's a very acute exposure, very strong exposure right next to the pillow. So obviously it should not be installed in the bedroom. But in certain situations, the telecoms come in, they see the plug under the bed and somehow they end up installing the wifi router there. I don't know why this would happen, but it does in certain situations. And I personally found that hotel rooms are especially dirty when it comes to EMF exposure. And in a very high end hotel room where I had the chance to stay in Austin, Texas, they had installed these very strong routers under the bed, under these king size mattresses. And I had to kind of rip everything apart to do demonstration and record a video about it and, and, and, and show people that look, this is nonsensical. Why would would you have that exposure there under the pillow when it could have been in the closet? And the answer is probably just for technical reason, they build the rooms this way. It should not have been built this way. And of course I wish that in the next decades it will become common occurrence where in hotel rooms you can turn off the WI fi for better sleep, or maybe it turns off automatically, who knows. So computer occupational exposure is especially important. So do you use a computer connected via WI fi, especially in the scope of your work? Most people do. Nowadays, more and more people start working on computers. Do you use a laptop on your lap, which could lead to tremendous exposure to the groin area, which is especially a problem for fertility. But an overall question is, do you work on a computer? And if your patients or clients do, or if you do in the scope of your practice, then you have to take extra steps because you're exposed on WI fi close to your entire body. If your computer is right there in a laptop form, or if you use a phone, even in the Scope of your work, you need to know these things. These are occupational exposure to signals. There are that are a stressor and it means if it's part of their occupation, that chances are they will be exposed to 40 to 60 hours per week in the scope of their work. So it's important that you know that and that you take that into consideration. You can expect the symptoms of electro hypersensitivity to vary based on physical location. So if people feel better at home, but at work they feel buzzed and they feel they cannot concentrate and they feel they have heart palpitations. For examp, it might be that at work in front of the computer they are having these high exposures. It might be other factors such as the air quality at work, but it's something to look at. Is it based on location? If you tell your patients or clients to go camp in nature with no devices and far away from civilization in the middle of nowhere, if there's no cell phone signal, it's even better of an experiment. And you see these symptoms reducing tremendously. It's a sign that something was wrong in their environment, not necessarily in their biology or in their biology's possibility or ability to adapt to these exposures. So maybe they are okay when they are in nature and they start feeling asymptomatic. Maybe their brain comes back online or they sleep way soundly. But when they're in the city with all these exposures combined, then their body goes above the symptomatic threshold and it becomes a problem. The current stress levels, the current state of health, how full is the stress bucket? A lot of people with sensitivities, including myself, especially in the last. A few years ago, I used to be more sensitive and I realized that when I slept poorly, WI fi impacted me and gave me brain fog. When I was in great health and slept great for 10 nights in a row, for example, sometimes I could have WI FI exposures and not even realize that it's there. And my brain was still functioning correctly. So it is. It is also varying in time based on current state of health and levels of fatigue. It can vary based on the source of emf. We don't know why it's happening, but it is commonly seen that some patients are more sensitive to WI fi and some patients are more sensitive to cell phones. And these things are not the same animal. It's like saying you're sensitive to toxins. Well, certain people are more sensitive to specific toxins in their environment or specific food proteins like corn and not wheat, for example. So when it comes to signals and frequencies, it's a little bit harder to grasp. But the reality is that certain people have identified that I don't have a problem with cell phones, but when I'm connected on WI fi, I get brain fog. It might be that the brain is especially sensitive to that frequency of WI fi for a certain individual, and then it puts them in a symptomatic state. But listen to your patients and clients. If they have themselves already identified that a certain source of EMF is problematic, and work with them to reduce their exposure to that source first, because it will lead to better reduction in symptoms. It might be a sudden change in the EMF environment that's commonly seen. They might even pinpoint the exact date. They might say, well, it was back in July, and I don't know what happened, but I started feeling buzzed or feeling heart palpitations. And maybe they have not realized that a new cell phone tower was erected and then turned on. Certain people react to the installation of a new WI FI router. Maybe they went from a not so powerful WI FI router to the latest and best version with three antennas. So upgrading to an even stronger signal might have put their body in that symptomatic overflow, stress bucket, so to speak, kind of state. So it's important to also consider that a big change in the EMF environment, such as the installation of something in their neighborhood, might trigger a sensitivity or put them in that symptomatic state. So the bottom line is this. If you're seeing mystery symptoms or slow stall detoxification or healing, always rule out the acute EMF exposures. I'm going to, I'm going to give you an example from Dr. Dan Pompa, who's a functional medicine practitioner who really understands EMFs. And he really impressed me with this anecdote. He has a son who's a teenage athlete whose knee was highly problematic. Might have been the right knee. I don't, I don't recall exactly, but his knee was problematic and always in pain. A lot of inflammation, and he was trying to recover, probably from multiple injuries in his sport, and it could not heal. And Dr. Pompa was in disbelief because he really tried everything. He's. He's a functional medicine practitioner, so he has a lot of tools on his tool belt, and he threw everything he could on. On that particular chronic inflammation, and it could not work. So PRP injections and creams, and you name it, he tried everything. But then he thought about EMF exposure, and it turns out that his son was playing Video games with his computer tower right next to the right knee. And with a WI FI chip. It was not connected via Ethernet, it was connected via WI Fi. So in other words, his knee was in constant WI FI exposure hours and hours every day. And once they change that and use an Internet cable instead, or maybe move the computer away, this could have been sufficient. Then the wound started healing and the inflammation came way down. So it's just a quick anecdote. It wasn't a life or death situation. But the EMF exposure was preventing the body from. From healing normally. So look for these things, because these are quick anecdotes that can show you that sometimes EMF exposure is the one thing that is preventing your patient or client from going back to a stage of homeostasis.
You know, it makes me think about how many thousands of dollars people might be spending trying to solve their health care issue or challenge. And it could be as simple as putting a timer on your WI fi, you know, doing a quick assessment of, you know, what are the sources of exposure and how do I just move something a little bit further away, or how do I take something that's, you know, connected to WI fi and hardwire it? I mean, if you like using the Internet, it's more reliable and faster when you hardwire things anyway, so it's going to actually upgrade, you know, your utilization of that tool that you're using. And, you know, sometimes it's those invisible forces of these exposures that are creating visible issues. Right? So, yeah, you know, something as simple as moving or just becoming aware of where am I sitting? You know, when you. We talk about laptops, right? I jokingly call them crotch tops because that's where people keep them, right? They keep them on their crotch. And you're just like, oh, my God, you're just like, frying this. And my mom, who knows nothing about emf, would always tell me, and this is like, long before, you know, a lot of this information became available to us. She always told me, maybe it's intuitively, or maybe there's just a download she got. And she'd always say, don't keep your computer on your lap. And we'd always get mad at her. We'd always kind of refute her and be like, what do you know? Like this. There's nothing wrong with this stuff.
Exactly.
And she was right all along. So, you know, I'll let you keep going. But I just wanted to interject there that sometimes the solutions are literally right under our noses and maybe right next to our knees. And we just need to raise awareness. I appreciate all the stuff that you're sharing, but.
Sure. And I have so many examples. It's kind of crazy to me. Sometimes I, I share something on, on a podcast or with, with functional medicine practitioners from, from the BC who I had the chance to, to mingle with Dr. Nick and I can't recall his last name. So Dr. Nick Jensen and his colleague were telling me on a follow up podcast interview. I did a first podcast with them a few years ago and I told them about EMFs and the importance of reducing exposure. And then they shared with me this anecdote that was really touching. Where EMF was a big difference and it will not be the case for every single patient. But sometimes, if you tend to forget it, it could be such an important factor so much that sometimes functional medicine practitioners are in disbelief of how much it made a difference. And it was the WI FI example. So when the WI FI was on at night that, that young woman that I think was around 12 or 14 year old, maybe preteen years develop migraine headaches so much that she, she, she, she threw up, she vomited very frequently, sometimes daily because of these migraines that were so powerful. So they went to see the neurologists, they went to see so many professionals and she was miserable and the grades were affected and you can only imagine living with, with those migraines over and over. And when they stop, they turned off, they just turned off the WI FI at night and the next day the migraines were maybe halved in their intensity. And then the next day after that there was a tremendous difference. And after a few weeks the migraines were gone, period. And it was not necessarily that the migraines, of course there's probably something wrong with the neurology of that patient that requires investigation because it's not your average person that gets a migraine from WI Fi that way in such a powerful way might have been something else. However, she could not recuperate at night because of the WI Fi. And when they only turned up the WI Fi, it was enough for her body to start healing the brain. So it was just that little extra push that, that little stressor that was removed and everything fell into place. So sometimes it can happen that you're going to see a tremendous difference in healing capability or even detoxification ability of the body if you clean up the environment a little bit. And some patients will require better help. And I'm going to dive into this section because how can you help your patients Reduce their EMF exposure when they are certainly exposed 24, 7. They think about the cell towers everywhere. Think about all the WI fi networks with all these silly names that you can see on the list of WI fi near your neighborhood. There's hundreds of them, right? So where should you even start? Well, you can start very easily for yourself, very simply, and also for your patients. Three simple action steps that I'm going to share. One, put your phone on airplane mode at night. So airplane mode is that button where it shows the little plane and extra points if you turn it off completely. Because nowadays I've been informed that with the latest iPhones, unfortunately even on airplane mode there might be little exposures just from the location services being open. And also find my phone, these different options that are in the phone. So unfortunately, it's just becoming that phone manufacturers are making it increasingly difficult for us to reduce exposure because of course, they're within the regulations and the average user wants more and more connectivity. So my work is kind of going against that society where we're increasing the level. So airplane mode at night might not be even sufficient. But if you do not want to hit airplane mode, and let's say if you're a parent with teenage kids that go out at night, then maybe you want to be able to be on call if there's something or you have to go pick them up. Put the phone in another room or as far as possible from your pillow. So in that room, that's my bedroom, office, I could put it probably 10, 12ft from my head. It would still be way preferable to do that rather than keeping it right next to the pillow. So distance really matters. Second thing I want you to try or tell your patients to try is airplane mode when you carry it. And that's important because a lot of people carry it all day and don't even use their phone all day. They're busy doing something else. But it is there in your pocket or in your bra or shirt pocket or back, even back pocket could be problematic. All these places are problematic. If your phone is connected to the multiple antennas that is inside the phone, it is constantly pinging signals and sending energy towards your body. That is a stressor. And in. In the medical literature, what is especially concerning to me is the vast increase in many cancers in our youth. In teenagers and young adults, especially in the groin area. You have uterus cancer, testicular cancer, colon cancer, bladder cancer, and many of the these cancer types. I cannot recall which which ones are increasing, but many of them are increasing in the Youth. And it's very concerning for researchers, and they're not even sure why these cancers are increasing and young people are. Are having sometimes fatal tumors. Part of it might be the phone. We don't know. There's not good data on it. But if it causes glioblastomas or acoustic neuromas or parotid gland cancers or even thyroid cancer is increasingly linked with cell phone exposure to the head. What do you think it does to the groin area? Right. Choose where you want damage. In the end, the same principles apply. And precautionary principle states that you should not carry it in a pocket. The Cleveland Clinic back in 2010 said that one of the most important factors in a brochure they gave patients. That's. That's Cleveland Clinic.
It's not.
We're not talking about something naturally by default, de facto. Holistically minded, at least, is very mainstream and prestigious. The Cleveland Clinic researchers were so clear on this that they said one of the top four factors for fertility in men is to not wear a phone in the pocket. I could find that literature from 2010. Well, we haven't put that in policy. Do you see Apple turning off the phone when it's in your pocket because it detects that it's close to your body? No, it does not do that. So unfortunately, again, we know that the data is there. The researchers that are at the top of their field in EMF and fertility have said, look, the data is very clear. It will impair fertility in men. And then we also know that researchers and fertility as a whole in men say the sperm counts are dropping, the motility isn't good, the morphology isn't good, and we're having more and more of these couples that are otherwise very healthy but completely infertile. So I may I suggest that one of the factors to not ignore is the phone in the pocket, for sure. But unfortunately, again, most people don't think about it. And public health is failing us in the sense that that science has not been taken into consideration when it comes to public policy, and it's not even public policy. It should be the manufacturers that are forced to turn off the phone when it's in the pocket. Right. But will it make it to that point? We'll see. I think that it will. Just like it took a lot of decades for the automobile industry to regulate itself with seat belts or to be forced to be regulated for safety. The same thing might happen with phones where we're going to put the seat belts on these machines to minimize exposure. But in the meantime, you got to follow these steps and also a one foot distance from the head. If you still talk on the phone, you do not want to risk it and talk on the ear or, or even use a Bluetooth replacement. Because Bluetooth is equivalent to a cell phone signal. It's replacing one bad exposure with one probably a little bit less bad exposure, but sometimes it's equivalent. So one foot distance from the head is important. You can use a pair of wired earbuds or speakerphone to talk on the phone.
And can I ask you a question there? First of all, thank you. And I think that it's important for us to recognize that we have to have our own personal health policy, right? You know, nobody's going to come and save us. I think the last two years have made that very clear that we've got to take ownership and maybe 20 years from now we'll find out we're right. However, it's pretty safe to say that if somebody has a headache, you wouldn't say, hey, you've got a migraine, why don't you put a cell phone by your head and see if that gets rid of it or you've got a tumor. Let's put a cell phone and see if that knocks out the tumor. No, it's probably, probably going to make those things worse. So I think intuitively we know these things and I love the practicality of the tips that you're offering. And you know, hey, listen, if you're expecting an important call, you can turn the WI fi and the Bluetooth off, right? So you know, you can pick your, you know, pick your battles and be wise about how you're using this technology. But it's raising that awareness, that self awareness and just checking in, right? And now's a good time. Like, hey, are you expecting a phone call right now? If you're not, put your phone on airplane mode, right? You know, it's less distractive. It's not going to deplete your dopamine. It's going to probably allow you to be more present to wherever you are. Because that's the other consequence of technology is that it, it takes us away from the present moment. You know, so aside from the exposure that it's giving us, which can be toxic to our health, it's also taking us away from what, you know, richness life has to offer, which is being present to where we are. You know, I put my phone in airplane mode every night. I try to keep it away from me as much as possible. My family knows this. So you know, they're aware that if you call me after a certain amount, after a certain time, like, you're not gonna be able to get a hold of me. So call 911 if it's a real emergency. And, you know, I've. I very rarely, I can probably say in the last two years, I've put my phone to my head maybe once, and there was just like a private conversation that I had to have, and it was just a couple minutes. So you're going to be very hard pressed to see me carrying my phone close to my face like that. But you see people glued to their phones. I remember when I was in university, this is embarrassing, but funny. And just being vulnerable before they had headsets that would go to your phone. I remember rubber banding my phone next to my head so that I could talk to my friend and not have to hold my phone to my head. So I'm guilty of this. That's almost over 20 years ago. I'm aging myself. But, you know, it's important for us to take these types of precautionary measures, and I think it's also important for us to educate our children. If you have young children, like my son is 11, and he's going to get, you know, we've tried, you know, we do our best, we do our absolute best to make him EMF conscious and technology aware. But I'm going to make him watch this presentation so that, you know, at least I'm doing my part as a parent to educate and nurture him and allow him to make informed decisions regarding his body so that, you know, children are much smarter than we think, you know, and they become conscientious of these things and they can start applying this into their life so much sooner because, again, this is, you know, really the first generation that has been exposed to this for they don't know any different. They don't know wired phones, they don't know, you know, you know, wired Internet and things like that as. As well as we do. So again, awesome. Keep going.
I don't.
I didn't want to stop you from your momentum, but I just wanted to add that there. So thank you.
Sure. Well, great point. And, you know, when it comes to kids, teenagers or even, I don't want to be sexist, but the reluctant husband is most often seen as the person who don't want to change about emf. So sometimes it's the wife. That's true. Or someone else. And the teenagers oftentimes also fight this, especially if they feel like they're gonna miss on something right now. I want to be able to connect with my friends and things like that, but it's a question of changing how they use the phone also. And you might even offer your teenagers, for example, an ethernet cable to connect the phone. And this is what I do at home when I'm taking my morning coffee. My phone is plugged into an ethernet cable with a converter that is compatible with my Apple iPhone. And I'm there on ethernet on my phone and I can download my apps, I can download my podcast, I look at Instagram, which I probably shouldn't do in the morning. But who like I can, I can do everything on an ethernet cable and I have zero exposure. So just to tell you that there, there, there are solutions and some, most of them are quite simple and most of them are free or quite cheap. A few converters or wires that sometimes are $10 to $50. And these are not expensive solutions compared to supplementation or health tools that are commonly prescribed to patients or clients as part of a functional medicine follow up. So what you want to look for, and that can help convince these reluctant family members is especially better sleep or more energy in the morning or better mood. So if you run an experiment and start turning off the WI fi at night, you might be surprised that a lot of family members might feel like they sleep better. And it is highly subjective. You can make it a little bit more objective with a tool such as an OURA ring or something that tracks sleeps. But I see a difference on my, on my ring when I sleep in lower EMF environments. And for sure I can tell you that if I go in a shack in the middle of the woods and there's no cell phone signal, then I get record sleep in an incredible manner. Same here. Yeah, exactly. So when you test it for yourself, it's quite profound. And we've had even athletes that start using an EMF shielded room or very profound, profoundly low EMF environment. And even the athletes can see a difference in their ability to recover. So everyone has a different motivation of why they would want to reduce EMFs. But even teenage kids, you know, when they sleep better, some of them might go, huh, wait a minute. This look, it looks like it's impacting my sleep. And when you feel it for yourself, there's a difference. It becomes less of a very abstract thing. It becomes a personal thing where you say, oh, well, maybe this stuff isn't good for me and I should reduce it, especially at night. So basic EMF reduction steps we talked.
About A lot of those.
But anything that touches the body should be. You should create distance or you should try to minimize time of use. For the WI fi router, we talked about turning it off at night when not in use or when, especially at night. But if during the day you have at home parents that are there with young kids, you don't even use the WI fi, feel free to turn it off. Right? It doesn't have to be on if it's not being used. You can turn it on, turn it back on when you need it, and you can eliminate WI fi. That's what I did when my wife was pregnant with our kid four years ago and we never looked back. We don't have WI FI at home. And when people come in the door and ask me, what's your WI FI password? I say, I don't have WI Fi. There's still disbelief on their face for sure when I have people over. But they get over it and they don't get. They don't connect on WI Fi or I will show them how to use my wired ethernet cables for their phone, for their tablets and for their computer. And it works great, as you alluded to. It's even. It's way faster, more stable and more secure compared to WI Fi. Anyway, so you.
I didn't even know they had converters for your iPhone. So as soon as we're done, I'm going to go. And they do.
Yeah, I'm going to send you a link. They do. So it's Ethernet to lighting converter, for example, for your iPhone, or Ethernet to usb. C or Ethernet to micro usb, depending on what model of Samsung phone you might have or Google Pixel. So you find the ethernet to the port of your phone. And most of these phones are still. I'm crossing fingers that it will stay true in the future, but at the moment it is plug and play, so you can literally use it. It does drain the battery quite a lot. But even just to update all your apps, you can do so in maybe one minute for 20, 40 apps because it's so fast compared to WI Fi or even the solar network. So it's just a way, very practical way to download large videos or content on your phone on the Internet cable. So it's just a great way to do it. And you have several sources that you want to think about that might be similar to WI fi routers. So they have no place in the bedroom, for example, the cordless phones that oftentimes can be close to the pillow with this base station that is wireless the digital personal assistants like Alexa and you have the baby monitors. And unfortunately the baby monitors are quite problematic in the sense that they can represent an exposure as great as a phone. But a baby monitor, most parents don't realize that, but it can pick up the signal or the voice just fine, even at 10, 15ft. So you can test it with your significant other or kids and just have someone talk in the room and see if it can still be picked up. My best recommendation is to use a wired one and it can be found, it can be arranged, it's a little bit more tedious or to use it sparingly. But if you still use the baby monitor, then in that case make sure to put it at a great distance from the baby, just like you would with a phone. So for sure it doesn't go in a crib. And for choking hazard, it shouldn't even be in a crib. I still see it every day. And ads or even parents who put in the crib, they don't want to miss any coughing or anything, especially with a young baby. And I understand that feeling now that I'm a dad myself. But at the same time, you don't have to do that. It can be the same room with great distance from the kid, and you're still going to be able to use that machine, but the exposure will be lessened by orders of magnitude. And it's important to also note that if you have people that are exquisitely sensitive to EMFs, you want to refer to professionals. There's the building biologists, there's the geovital consultants, especially in Europe, but there's quite a lot of them in North America now. And there's the shielded healing consultants that are a different type of EMF mitigation specialist. But these three types of professionals are great when it comes to taking EMF home surveys. For very sensitive individuals, it's pretty much a requirement. Just the way that if you find that someone is extremely mold sensitive to the point where clearly it is causing symptoms that are debilitating, you want to have a mold inspector. This is the equivalent to a mold expectorant, but for emf. So it is important to mention that in a lot of cases, with these most sensitive cases, you will want to refer to a building biologist or other professionals. And this is how. This is what I had for my presentation, Dr. Patel. I hope that everyone got a lot of knowledge out of it and it wasn't too overwhelming because I know there's quite a lot to think about, but at least it's a good introduction and just start with a few action steps for yourself and try it out with your patients. You don't want to overwhelm them. But even if it's just around phone use and wi fi use, you know, these two things just start there and it will introduce them to the idea that maybe, oh, maybe, you know, it's a stressor. And we position that in their mind as something that can have benefits. I have the Internet and I can be on my phone wherever I want. But there's also downsides. Just like we have to make people aware that there are benefits to screen time in kids and there are also downsides if they are glued to a screen. And I think that this is established, but the EMF side of things now we need to catch up on the science and, and communicate that as well.
Well, Nick, this is awesome. I know that some people might meet this with a little bit of resistance because our beloved devices.
Right.
However, it's important for us to recognize that as practitioners, we need to be stewards of our health and we need to identify and unturn all the stones possible that are affecting us from performing at our highest level, affecting our family, because there's nothing that will cause us to underperform more than a sick family member.
Right.
And as you said, the allostatic load for a lot of people, that bucket's filling up slowly, slowly, slowly.
And if we can take a little.
Bit, even if it's just a little bit for that person, we can take a little bit of water out of that bucket. It's going to make a profound difference in their symptoms and then we can always go deeper. And you've given us some really practical things to work on. I would love to have a part two of this interview. Maybe we do that in the near future because I had some questions to unpack and I know our time is a little bit limited today, so I'm going to ask you a couple more questions in an email that, that follows up. But I'd love to have you back and speaking to our audience because.
Yeah, thank you.
This is so important and it's such low hanging fruit, so to speak. It's such an immense opportunity for healing to take place. And it affects us. All right. It's not, you know, our diet affects us individually, but something like EMF affects our entire family. And it's because it's invisible. It's one of those invisible threats to our health and to our wellness. And we might be spending, or our clients might be spending so much money trying to Find answers when the solution can be as simple as putting a timer on your Wi Fi or hardwiring your phone. You know, one of my favorite apps is YouTube because you can actually get YouTube Premium and you can download whatever you want to listen to. So when I go for a walk, I don't have to be connected to the Internet. I could just download whatever I want to listen to or, you know, podcast or whatever and then put my phone in airplane mode. And that way I'm not having to think about it. It's not an additional stressor that's negatively affecting my health in any way. So thank you, my friend. This has been awesome. How can people get to connect with you a little bit more? Are there, is there anywhere we want to direct them to so that they can learn more about your work and, and perhaps support the work that you're doing? Because of course, it takes a village. Right? And I want to make sure that you're adequately being supported by our community as well.
Thank you.
It means a lot.
The main website is the EMF guy.com. this is where you're going to find my book and everything that I've put out as far as educational materials go. And I do have a course for health practitioners that is still very up to date. It's from the end of 2018, but it's still very valid. And it's a collaborative work with Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt and a few scientists and doctors around the world. So I have many collaborators that did sessions inside this course. It's about 12 to 14 hours of education, so it's quite substantial. And it goes deep into how to add EMF to your questionnaires, but also the science reviewing many areas of science, of symptomology, EMF sensitivity, and it's, let's say the 14 hour version of that presentation because there's only so much I can tell in a single presentation. But it is for practitioners who know that EMF is something they want to add to their practice in a serious manner and it will give them all the tools, including the questionnaires that you can just hand to patients, for example. So that's. The course is called Electrosmog Rx and it's found on my website, the emfguy.com in the learn section or electrosmogrx.com is also. It's available all year long.
It's a self study course. Amazing. Well, thank you once again, Nick. I truly appreciate the work that you're doing. It's very necessary.
Keep it up.
And what we'll do is we'll do a part two within my mentorship group. I want to dive a little bit deeper into this with you and a select group of practitioners who I know you know, are really into health optimization. So I'll. We'll connect after this, and we'll dive a little bit deeper into supporting these practitioners with this amazing information that you've offered. So everyone, check out Nick's website, the mfguy.com support his work. You know, support yourself by applying some of the things that you learned today. And as always, here's to your own health, happiness, and wholeness. And here's to eliminating these invisible threats to our health that are holding us back from being our best selves. And as online virtual practitioners, we're probably engaging with technology more than we might think, certainly more than somebody who's out there landscaping, perhaps. So we want to be very conscientious of how we are engaging with technology responsibly. So thank you, Nick. Greatly appreciate you. And here's to amazing health for you as well.
Thanks, Dr. Patel. Thanks for having me. All right, well, have an amazing day. Thank you.
