Hello, my friends, and welcome to a very special interview that I get to do today with a very dear friend, Elaine Glass. Elaine is the author of this beautiful book called Get Quiet. And in this book she has an amazing framework and a series of steps that we can all incorporate into our lives to help us go from feeling lost to feeling found. What I love about Elaine is her amazing energy, her very intentional presence that she brings to any conversation that she has. And in getting to know Elaine over the last few years, when you get to speak with her in person, she makes you feel like you're the only person in the room. And so she's one of the people that I admire very deeply. I refer to her as my soul's cheerleader because she's always cheering for me and, you know, other people who are doing great work in the world. And so thank you, Elaine, thanks for joining me today.
It's my pleasure. Sachin, thank you for that beautiful introduction. I really appreciate it.
Oh, absolutely. Thank you for being a cheerleader to my soul and for cheering for others. And I love the intentional presence that you bring in every room that you're in. And it's very palpable. So I'm curious as to whether you recognize that or not. Is that something you work on in terms of cultivating or is that just how you're wired and who you are?
I noticed that about myself when I was seven years old. I was on the playground as a little kid and my classmates would come up to me and want to talk with me and they would just pour out their emotions and feelings and I didn't know who I was being at the time. But every time they would come to me and then leave, they would leave happier. So I really feel like I'm circuited that way and I came in that way.
Tell me about your childhood growing up. I know your father was a dentist. If I'm not. If I'm not mistaken. And you went into that path as well for a little bit.
He loved your dentist.
He loved. Okay, so I'm sorry I'm interrupting you, but if I. If I may ask, just tell me about what your upbringing was like and if. If this gift of yours was fostered or recognized from your childhood by others.
Yes, thank you for asking. My dad was a dentist. He loved being a dentist. And my siblings and I would work in his office. And he was inspiring and he loved his patients. He loved the work. He taught me the act of a gentle touch every time he'd put the mirror in my mouth to do my yearly exam. It was this gentle touch. And so, yes, he fostered this gentleness in all of us, this presence in all of us. I really feel like he was a true healer. And that was in Northern California. So of course I played in the redwood forest and had the ocean and had really what I know now as an adult was a very, very healthy childhood. And I am so, so grateful for that that I can then use that as a foundation for everything that I do the rest of my life. And that has been, I believe, my greatest gift is having healthy parents, raising me in a healthy environment, with a healthy mindset. I remember my mother, who was a stay at home mom, would take us to the health food store back in the 70s. That's what it was called. So I was exposed to this very natural way of from the minute I was born.
What a gift. You know, I'm grateful that we get to be that generation of parents for Devin and hopefully many others who are listening to this get to be that set of parents for their children as well, because it definitely pays off in the long run. Were you rebellious against a healthy lifestyle or is that something that you just naturally embraced? Because I know sometimes kids can be rebellious against their parents in that regard.
No, there was no rebellion. It was just the way it was. I mean, as a middle child, I would say I was a little bit more rebellious in terms of me being very curious, having a really, really huge imagination, wanting to know and explore. My signature within me is an explorer, an adventurer. So that would be the only thing I would have thought back when I was a teenager. Like, how can I get out of here? How can I see what's going on in the world? So that was probably my most rev. Rebellious time, is just to want to get out and see. But it wasn't that I wanted to leave my family. I just wanted more to know what was going on in the world and how I could be a part of it.
So currently you live in Arizona, which is a beautiful part of the country. Where are some of your favorite places that you've explored?
Oh, every, every part of the desert really speaks to me. I've lived here over 30 years, Sachin, and the springtime is my favorite time. It never gets old, the things that bloom out of the cactus. It's the colors, the blossoms, the flowers. And exploring nature in the springtime in Arizona is my absolute favorite. I'm always taking pictures and I think to myself, I took this last year, I took this 20 years ago. But it never gets old. And of course, there's so many different elevations in Arizona, so you even drive two hours north and you're skiing. And so it's just a, it's a wonderful place. And unlike the ocean, the ocean is very loud. There's such a quiet stillness in the desert. And I really, really appreciate that because I, I grew up by the ocean, so living in the desert has been really, really supportive.
Well, perfect transition. So speaking of, of quiet and solitude, I'm sure comes to mind as well. What inspired you to write the book Get Quiet?
I became a dental hygienist. And in my 20s and 30s, I sat with over 40,000 patients, one on one. And I saw a lot of souls and humanity and put a lot of, connected a lot of dots to what makes somebody healthy, what makes some people happy. Why are people so sad and, and, and scared and lonely around Thanksgiving? That was a pattern with people, you know, they, they hadn't had that connection with their family. So it's like, oh gosh, I've got to go see my family for Thanksgivings. What was causing distress and disease? And a coach of mine, after 20 years of being in the field, she said, what did you learn? Because I was now exiting hygiene and being, becoming a life coach, she said, what did you. Sitting with all of those people? And I said, I just want people to get quiet. And I didn't know what that meant at the time fully. And I needed to get quiet too. Why? Because I had just been diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroid disease. I was going through a very difficult divorce and found myself a single mother overnight. So I needed to get quiet too. We have to find our way first before we can teach others. So this started with me and my quest to find peace, inner peace, quiet, and feel like I could lead my two young children because I had to. I was mom and dad. So I needed to find quiet myself. And that's where the quest started.
So define what it means to get quiet.
I have now learned that the Get Quiet way that I do write and get quiet. The book is a series of paths, simple paths for us to connect to our souls. Because I believe we are this energy, the soul that comes from the infinite. And now we are, you know, that that energy comes into our bodies. And now I believe that we are this energy in this body. So we are having this very, very spiritual experience in this human form. But I feel like most suffering is because we've disconnected to that energy, to the soul. So this is a, this is a seven path sequence of going inward to connect to your soul so that body and soul are dancing together and not separate.
Yeah. Where do you feel like the separation starts? Because I feel like when children are born, right. They don't know the difference between every. Everything that's in their surrounding. Right. They're just at one with it because their ego hasn't developed yet. What do you think starts creating this separation from our souls and ourselves and start shaping our ego?
I believe that we are so much more than what we have been led to believe. And to me that's a really profound statement because it's in that domestication that we're led in the wrong direction. Because the of the adults who are living in the addiction of a fear based life. So I believe that's where the separation begins is when a child of a certain age can now understand fear. And of course there's healthy fear that keeps us alive. But then there's fear that's very unhealthy and that's the fear that takes over and that's the times that I believe we're living in now. And in quiet all is revealed to you and that all that's revealed to you is love. It's not fear. So that's what I found my patience needed. And that's what I found I needed was to get into first a quiet environment and know I was led to believe something completely different that wasn't serving me. Now how do I get back to believing and feeling and embodying this love that I know is really real? That was the quest I went on and the seven paths. Because in Get Quiet the subtitle is Seven Simple Paths to the Truth of who youo Are. These are the seven paths that I took to get to that truth. A return to love. A return to knowing my soul's calling and actually getting about the business of doing that.
So when you, when you started experiencing quiet, maybe you can walk us through what that those initial steps were. So having that knowing of I need to get quiet is one thing. But then how do we find that in such a loud and and noisy world these days?
Well the age old biblical saying is be still and know. But I feel like we're being still but not knowing because we're, we're reaching outside of ourselves for the answer. So I understood that I, I do believe we do have the answers within us. I just didn't know where that within was or what questions to ask to get to those answers. So I be very accidental or maybe not accidental because everything I feel is in divine timing. And supporting us and to trust the unseen. So I bumped into a guy at a cafe one once, one day, like 15 years ago, I was rushing to get my kids from the carpool line at school and something inside of me just said, stop and talk to this guy. Even though my life was super chaotic, very loud, I could still be able to hear that little voice saying, stop, be present with him. Ended up, he guided me to a place called the Franciscan Renewal center, which you know that you've been in, that neighborhood near my house in Arizona. And in the back of that property, I went and found a labyrinth. And I don't know if your listeners know what a labyrinth was. I didn't know what a labyrinth was, but it's a 4,000 year old ancient meditative tool that was used to help people connect, like a pilgrimage to connect to God or their soul to connect inward. It's not a maze. It doesn't confuse you. You go one way in and one way out. But it does traverse around, which really is a metaphor for life's twists and turns. The minute I found this quiet retreat center and the minute I started walking circles in the desert of this labyrinth, first I thought I was going crazy. I heard God's voice, my soul's voice, so loud and clear. That first day, there was nobody there. It was quiet, the desert is so still. And I heard the message, surrender. Fifteen years later, I'd have to say that's probably one of the most important messages I've ever heard. It's like my spirit team was there saying, hey, this is, this is the main thing you need to learn. And, and surrender is interesting because it could mean surrender to what is. But what I have found is it's really surrender to what can be. And this is what I did and this has been the journey and this surrendering has helped me get to sitting with you here today as a published author, very exciting. So those were the first steps I took to getting quiet.
So what did, if you could maybe unpack that a little bit, what did surrendering look like for you at that time?
At first I thought, well, how am I going to surrender anything? Because if I let go and hold, you know, let go of everything I'm holding because particularly for healthcare providers, people who nurture, you know, moms and dads, we hold so much. We hold the weight of the world on us and we hold a lot that we're not really meant to hold to stay in control of our lives. So surrendering at that time was first witnessing what I was holding That I no longer needed to hold, having faith, to know that if I did let go, that I would be supported, that my life wouldn't completely fall apart, that my children's lives wouldn't completely fall apart. Because as a single mom, that's what I was most worried about, about and to trust. And after a very difficult divorce, it was hard to trust. It was hard to trust. It was hard to. To love. And I was just like this wounded, you know, little child at the time. So a lot of lessons around surrendering. But then I started seeing synchronicities popping, because the day that I heard that message to surrender, I went back to my car, I turned on the radio, and the announcer was talking about the topic of surrender. So I was like, okay, there's something going on here. And I tell you, I couldn't go back to that labyrinth for a month later because it literally freaked me out. I was like, what is going on here? And I really, really realized that something was about to shift in my life and I had to be ready for that. So I went back four weeks later because I, I, I just couldn't go back any sooner. And it was in that second time around that I heard another voice that said, you are not alone. And I started singing that Michael Jackson song, you are not alone. I'm here with you because that's how this unseen the spirit team catches your attention. It's like music or license plates or anything that you would respond to and recognize. And I love Michael Jackson. So I started singing this song. Well, I get back to my car, turn the car radio on, and that song.
Wow.
When you get quiet and all is revealed to you, this is when your life changes. This is when your soul begins. This awakening is when your body and the soul can begin to unite. And you can now understand that there is an energy, a signature energy that we are all born with, embedded in our DNA, with our soul's calling. This is the crux of what Get Quiet will teach us. In the pattern that I lay it out is we are able then to know why we are here. It is what has taught hundreds of my clients to know why they're here, their purpose, their. Their contribution to humanity. Because we're really all here to solely help humanity awaken. And we're all doing that in our own individual way. And I want to recognize you because you have helped. You have been my mentor toward that awakening. So I see you in that way for me.
Oh, thank you. Thank you. I appreciate that. It means a lot. You know, one thing that's coming up for me, and maybe just boiling to the surface for me is this almost this fear of discovering who we are or hearing that message, to hear that we're not on the path that we need to be on, or we need to reinvent our identity, or maybe there's a different plan for our soul than the plan that our ego designed for us. And that delta. That difference can. Can be quite a chasm for some people, I would imagine. And. And it. That's what's boiling to the surface for me is like, man, if I were to, like, fully surrender and I were to get a message that, hey, you need to be doing this, like, so much of who I am and my identity and my contribution is. Is wrapped up in that, the opposite could be true too. It could validate that I'm on the right path as well. So help me. Help me maybe unpack that a little bit. Or does that come up with your clients like that, that fear of surrendering? And maybe my word wouldn't be surrender if I. If I went through the process. But what. What does that look like? Or what. What comes up for your clients when you're. When you're coaching them through a process like this?
The first thing that I say to them is because I do believe that we are here as humans needing to experience ourselves in as many ways as possible. So with that overarching theme, it's not so scary to shift our identity. It's not so scary to shift who we're being. It's not so scary to shift what then we're doing. You know, so many of my clients have been gone through three or four different careers, and they embrace that because at the core, they're just being who they came in as that energy. Like I was telling you as a child, I knew at seven years old, I had a certain presence. They have a certain presence. You have a certain presence. Everyone has a certain presence. And then it doesn't really matter what you do with that. It's just that you carry yourself everywhere you go. But our minds get in the way and say, oh, well, this is my identity, and it has to be this way for the rest of my life. I can't shift or alter that because that's just who I am. Instead of saying, well, who do you be? Who are you being? And I believe that just being, just being in this present moment is all you have to do. It's all you have to be is to just be. It's so simple. But our minds and the ego and the programming of what society tells us is success does not align with that. But that's where I feel illness and disease and suffering comes from. And I know that for sure because I've noticed it in myself. I've noticed it in my clients, and of course, all those patients, 40,000 of them, what was causing them suffering? What was causing them disease? And then people say, well, I have to make a living, I have to make money. I have to do something that can help me, you know, live my. Live my life. Then choose something where you are really activating that signature soul's calling that's embedded within you. That's what we're here to reveal to ourselves. That's what we're here to be being and doing. And that's where you're going to make your money. That's where you're going to be successful. That's where you're going to be fulfilled and have meaning in your life. But we choose things that are so out of alignment because we're forced to, or we feel like, you know, our parents are telling us to go in a certain direction. Every, every path is going to lead you back home. There's no wrong path. But why not set ourselves up, or why not set our children up to getting quiet, walking these seven simple paths and really being able to tune in and make a great decision for ourselves, to activate this signature energy called our soul's calling.
You know, I went to, after I heard, first heard you talk about the labyrinth. I found one close to me and I went there. And I don't think I created the right experience to get the most out of it, because I was there with my brother. My Deepa was there, Devin was there. They hadn't heard our conversation. And so the context for them was very different than the context I went to it with. And my mission, my vision, is to go back there or find another labyrinth and go there just by myself. I'm one of those people that enjoys my own company. And I imagine you're the same as well. And of course I like being around people, but I can be by myself for days at a time, to be quite, quite honest. And, and so I think I need to go back by myself. So walk me through what kind of. If somebody is going to listen to this and, and find a labyrinth, what's the. Is there anything that they should do to prepare? Is anything that. Is there anything they could do to enhance your experience? Or do they just go in, walk the path and, and listen for that voice? Like what. What would be Your guidance for somebody who's new to going to the labyrinth and walking it.
Yes. First you can find a labyrinth near you@lubyrinth locator.com. there are thousands around the country. And also in the book Get Quiet, there's a finger walking labyrinth that when you use your non dominant hand and you trace it, you get the same beautiful feeling. But let's say you want to go out in nature, which that was my preferred way. You approach the labyrinth without any expectations. You approach the labyrinth and you first of all, you feel the quiet, you feel the nature. You might feel the sun on your skin, the wind blowing through your hair, all your senses come alive and you just step in and start walking. I love seven circuit labyrinths myself. That's what the book is based off. And you will find that energetically you have entered a portal unlike any energy field you may have ever visited before. I believe the ancients knew that this was a portal of transformation and of enlightenment and awakening. So there's really this quiet, what I call in the book get quiet, no mind approach to walking the labyrinth. And I know that sounds simple, but it is so simple. That is where you will get the most out of walking a labyrinth is being there alone, being there in the quiet, with no mind, with no expectations. And you will either hear something immediately while you're walking the paths or when you leave the labyrinth you will have dreams, messages that come in dreams, messages that come in synchronicities outside of the labyrinth. This is what is available to all of us and it's so exciting. And I really believe that labyrinths have been totally dismissed and ignored and they're hidden in places around the world for a reason. Because they are portals to help us. Because when you enter a labyrinth, your spirit team greets you there, they've been longing to greet you there. And they are there to support you and love you.
I love that. So tell me about the spirit team. Yes, that a little bit more.
Well, it's your guides, your angels, God, whatever you feel that you can connect to. And sometimes people feel like, well, I, I don't trust that. I can't see it, but you will feel it. And that's where this no mind, there's no expectation really sets you up to experience the feeling. Because when my clients go in to this labyrinth, when I first went in, it's like you feel something. Grab your hands in a very playful, loving way and look. All I can tell is like, all I can say this sounds very woo woo. I am so not in the woo woo. Camp I'm a very science. Like I come from a dental family. Like I'm not woo woo. But this was what happened. This was what happened to me. This is what happens to every single person that I take to the labyrinth. They have an awakening. They have a realization that it's not that it's new to them, but it's a confirmation. Like, oh, I am going to be okay. Or oh, I've been thinking about that one thing, but now I really know. And when that knowing comes from within you and not from social media or the news or, or, or friends or family or the noise of the world, when it comes from you, game over. And your life can shift on a dime on it in an instant because it is a knowing that came from you, from that signature energy embedded in our DNA that is the magic of the labyrinth.
I love that. So what's the cadence? How often do you go? Or is. Are there certain circumstances under which you go? I'd love to learn more about that.
Isn't it the truth that when we are desperate to hear a message, when we're desperate because we are maybe in a health crisis or in a life crisis, that we turn to God or we turn to the universe for answers. I will say that that is most of the time when people turn to the labyrinth, of course you can be preventive and go there and hear the messages that you know would be good to, to know on a weekly basis. But most of my clients do come because they, they are, they are lost. They are, they are suffering to some degree. But it's always there for you. The answers will always be there for you. You can use it as a walking meditation, which that's what I used it for. And that's what a lot of my clients will do, is they will. I have one client who has one just next to her office, so she go there sometimes for lunch and walk it and come back. It's not always easy to sit in meditation, but it is a beautiful walking meditation, which I feel is very supportive to a lot of people today, is that they can do this in a walking way and you don't even need a labyrinth. I learned a lot of lessons in the labyrinth, but I take those same lessons and I can walk in my neighborhood and still get into that state of being where you're tuned in and present. And so you don't have to be in a labyrinth. But it certainly is very supportive.
Have labyrinths been. I mean, they're all over the world. There's literally. I went on the Website. There's several pretty close to me, but there's literally thousands. When you look at the map, have they been studied with any scientific scrutiny? I'm curious as to if scientists have studied this and if there's something that they're discovering. Maybe it's. It's the way we're walking or the path that people take. Did you, did you uncover that in writing your book?
Only anecdotal. They're only anecdotal stories. I think it's just one of those intangible things that there have been a lot of stories, such as mine, such as my clients, such as thousands I read to. To write Get Quiet and to understand what was going on there. But when we're dealing with energy, sometimes that can be measured. A lot of times it can be measured. Brain waves, things like that, shifting the energy in our body, but nothing very concrete. People will say they have, but every. All the research I did, there was really nothing concrete other than people's personal stories of transformation and awakening and health, sudden immediate health, heal, healings. It just, It's. It's one of those places that these things happen because of the energy shifting in our bodies and the way in which we traverse the. The paths.
I'd love for you to share a story of one of your clients, obviously keeping their name anonymous, but just. Just so our listeners can kind of appreciate the shifts that can take place for people.
Wow. Okay. Which one? Yes. So I had a client come to me and their marriage was. It was. They were. They were separated with five children. And this always pains me because it's a personal, you know, charge for me because of my own personal story of divorce. And I always just think of the children involved in any situation and family dynamic where the parents are thinking of that. So my client came to me suffering and needing messages and answers. I took them through the paths of Get Quiet, the seven paths where their bodies were in suffering mode, but they were totally disconnected to their soul and the messages the soul was trying to tell them. After a full day, because I do full day retreats. After one full day at the Labyrinth, they totally heard what was going on, what their role in the marriage was, the changes they needed to make. And those. That couple stayed together because of that, because they. That person was able to hear their own messages and not the noise of the world telling them what to do. This is what it is. It's you. You get to hear your soul's voice. You're leading you. And sometimes for the first time in your whole life.
Yeah. It kind of reminds me of that quote from Ram Dass that in the end we're all walking each other home. But in a situation like this, it's like we're walking ourselves home to the center of, of who we are.
That is so beautifully said. We are walking ourselves home.
So let's, let's unpack the soul a little bit more. I know that's like a topic of great interest to you and probably our listeners as well. You know, the way I kind of describe the soul, the way it's been described to me rather is that we're all part of this ocean of consciousness. And when we, when we're in embodied in this physical body that we have, we're like the wave that's coming out of the ocean. But essentially we all go back in to the ocean and become one with it again. How would you describe the soul?
It's. To me, it's the energy. It is our signature energy that originates from, from God. But to me, God is everything, including us. God is not only outside of us, but within us. So it is, it's everything. It originates from everything. It is one with every everything. So if I hurt you, I'm hurting myself. And that's why the world today doesn't make sense to me, because in so many ways we're just hurting ourselves. Excuse me. So that to me is what the soul is. It's everything. It's one. And in fact the last chapter and Get Quiet is this realization of unity, consciousness of God, consciousness. And it was such a beautiful place to, to land as the last chapter. And knowing this and really Get Quiet is about returning to our, to human kindness.
We need more of that, definitely these days. So, you know, it's impossible for someone to be soulless, right? Based on this definition, because we're all part of this collective consciousness. Why do you think the world has shifted in the direction that it has? Where did we, where did we go wrong? Because I think in our, both of our minds and in our hearts, we can see a beautiful world and we can imagine it and we can witness it in certain environments. But where do you feel like the world has gone wrong? And if you were in charge of the world, what would you change and do differently so that we can come to this unification?
It's the emptying of the mind. It's the, it's the getting to know mind. And this happens when you have sometimes a sudden loss, if you have a death, if you have something that you're really. That really strikes you that that's that's very difficult. Immediately you will say, and I've heard this from so many people. They say, I don't know anything. I thought I knew everything, but now I don't know anything. You know, when I was with my dad in hospice and I, he died in my arms, I drove home after that horrible, horrible. He was my hero. I, after that horrible day. And in my mind I was like, elaine, you know nothing. If someone can be here one minute and gone the next, you know, you know nothing. It's this. No mind. And so we have to pause and purge. And this is what get quiet. The seven paths do I, we, we purge everything and clean and clear out everything in our lives. In fact, you helped me with this because I was taking thyroid medicine. I was in this cleaning and clearing and purging, you know, time in my life in terms of doing that for my body. And you helped me with this. You helped me understand that medications have binders and fillers and dyes and all this crap in there that is causing us to sometimes feel worse instead of better. So I took a good look at everything in my life. This is what I help my clients do. What's in your cabinet? What's in your medication? Medications. What's in your food? Who are the people living with you? Who are the people in your bed? Everything. This is a time of purging everything out of your life so that you can be this clear, open vessel, not only of no mind, but just this clear energy where you can access this signature frequency and get in a state of being to connect to your soul. We can't do it in the lower vibrations where it's heavy and dense. That's not where we can connect to this energy of the soul. So what would I do to, to help humanity? I, I, I, I wrote this book get quiet because I saw my patients, I've seen hundreds of clients with this denseness, with this stuckness, with this feeling of feeling lost. And when we can come together in a lightness of being, in a higher vibration and really touch the light of who we are, this love, that's when we become united in this, in this front of, of humanity. And we are all on this soul's calling, in this mission and this purpose. And we all know that it's going to look different for everybody, but that we know we're all on it together. That's what lights me up.
Amazing. You've mentioned the seven steps a few times, so I'd love to maybe unpack those a little bit or a Few of them. Whichever ones you feel are. They're all obviously important, but I'll let you choose which seven. Or if you want to go through all seven, that's totally up to you.
I would love to go through all seven.
Let's do it.
This took me 15 years, by the way. So that each path, it seems like a lot. Seven, but you can be on a path for a year. Sometimes you can be on a path for a week or a day. It's up to you. It's a very intuitive way to heal. It's a very intuitive way to help yourself heal, to facilitate your own healing. The first path is to nurture your body. And that each path has an energy point of the body. So the energy point of nurturing your body is your abdomen. The second path is cleaning, clearing out your environment. That is the path of the heart energy. The third path is cleaning and clearing out the mind. No mind. And this is kind of a neat path because it's the outermost ring of the labyrinth, the longest path, because I feel it's the most difficult. It's the path that abuts up to the outside world. So we're always a little distracted wanting to go outside that labyrinth. But it. It really, really helps. You say, no, I need to stay in this labyrinth. I need to do this work. The fourth path is to get rest. Because I believe that when we are in that state of rest and relaxation, that we can access our brilliance. The path after that is grounding, which I know you love. I love what I love being. When I'm with you, I see your grounding shoes. And so I always am reminded of you on this path. And the path that is of the feet. And what I saw on this path is that we not only ground down into the earth, but we also ground upward as well to the heavens. So it's this upward and downward, so that we are not only humans, but we are of the divine as well. The next path after that is our legs. This is where my clients begin to dream again. Especially for people who have been taking care of others for years and years now. They are able to connect to their own dreams and their own desires and really begin to create again. So this is the path of the legs. After that comes the path of the. Of your intuition. And that's the energy point of your tailbone, because I saw that that's where the intuition is. Is in our tailbone and goes up and down our spine from there, and then you finally reach the center. And that energy point are your shoulders. And so you kind of. You crisscross your hands and you place both hands on opposite shoulders and you give yourself a big hug because you know, now you have reached the center of you. You've connected body and soul, and you've knighted. You have united with the universe and. And God. God within you, God outside of you. Unity, consciousness. And these are the seven paths.
I love it. You know, one of the things that is probably. And. Okay, so let me. Let me back up. So would you want to do these all in that order or does. Can you switch up the order? What are your thoughts on that?
Initially, what I always recommend is that you read Get Quiet or you can listen to Get Quiet. I read the book and each chapter actually in the audible is. They've set these visualizations, these energy points to music. So it's a beautiful listen if you rather listen to the book. So it's really going through the seven paths in order, understanding that while you're reading the book or listening, you're actually doing the same cadence as. As if you were walking the labyrinth. Because that's how I set up the chapters of the book. So just by listening or reading the book, you're actually really energetically walking the labyrinth, which is super cool. After you read the book, then I would suggest that you write down in the. In the last chapter, all eight energy points are there. That's when I would lie down in bed. I have clients do this just maybe at break time at lunch. Tune into those eight energy points and see what energy point speaks to you. This is a body scan that helps you tune back into, okay, what area of my body needs more attention? And that will then guide you to the place in your life that needs more attention. So the other day I found that my heart area was. Was felt a little off. So then I go back to that chapter. Oh, that's the cleaning and clearing of your environment. What's going on there? So it's just this roadmap to help you connect the dots from how your body's feeling to what's going on in your life. So that this really helps you have direction on how to help yourself on a daily basis. So first, to answer your question, go through the. All the. The paths in order and then go back at your leisure to check in how you feel each day.
Okay, wonderful. Elaine, I'm curious. Do you have, besides what you shared today, do you have a consistent or meditative practice that you incorporate into your life as well?
I have been a transcendental meditator for over 30 years. That has always been something that's been very supportive. And I also then recognized that I needed to move and that's why the get quiet way, this movement practice of meditation helped me expand on the TM meditation. And so now I am, I feel like, because I have practiced this for so long, that every moment is a walking meditation in my day.
That's beautiful.
So I feel like I just live in a state of that.
Now. I've met your son Michael. How. And having a young son, my, myself, Devin's turning 14 soon. They grow up so fast, as you're probably well aware. How soon can or how young can somebody be to start incorporating something like this in their life?
First of all, I love your son. He is the most incredible child. I mean the most amazing soul.
Thank you.
Creative, bright eyed. You started very early helping him grow in the most natural, beautiful way. And when you're awake and conscious enough to know this as a parent, that's great. You can start from the minute they come out. And most of the time we're not awake enough to, to know these things. And so if you have a toddler, you know, up to a teenager, my kids are grown and out of college at any age. Children are the greatest imitators, as you know. But we have to as parents, give them something great to imitate. So we go first because they will see everything we're doing. And then instead of waiting for them to ask, what are you doing? We tell them what we're doing. I walk through everything I do with my kids. I teach them everything that's happening. I also let them fail. And then we talk about our failures. I think that's really important. We don't call them failures. We talk like, what happened today that you didn't expect to go a certain way and what did you learn from it? Because you can, you know, you can sit down and say, you know, you need to meditate, you need to get quiet, you need to get off your devices. But as, as we know that doesn't we have to be the ones going first? We have to be the ones that say phones go away at dinner time, whatever. We have to be the ones creative and being in a certain state where we can be the camp counselor. We have to be healthy and happy and energetic so that every weekend that comes along, we're, we're taking our family and we're doing fun things and we show our kids that we are not living in our most natural state right now in the world, that we have gotten far off of living in our natural, healthy way that our ancestors did. I'm not saying technology and all these new innovations haven't helped us. It has. But they also have controlled us. So how do we take back our humanity? And I really feel it starts with the family unit and the parents teaching our kids a different way to live and the permission to live a different way and making them confident to know you can make these courageous decisions, even though your friends might be saying, well, that what are you doing? That's stupid or ridiculous. No, no, no, this is how you live. This is how I'm going to stay healthy, because my wealth is my health.
You know, it's so interesting because, you know, thinking back to high school and, you know, early on in college, we have to make such important decisions that are going to really take us down a certain path in our career, in our lives. And I almost feel like very few people are prepared to make those type of decisions because there's so much noise and information coming from the outside. Whereas if they could get quiet, walk the labyrinth, empty their mind, right, and really find themselves and find their soul, that they would be guided in a much more appropriate way for who they are meant to be. So it's. It's almost like a rite of passage, I would think, for a lot of people to. To discover that part of themselves and.
Parents can help their children with this. I remember when my youngest son was just graduating from college and he was going the route of what society and his friends were all doing, going and getting the traditional job, maybe the finance job in New York City, you know, wanting to feel that power. But there's another way to get that power, that feeling of energy soaring through you without it coming from the outside. Like a job in New York and finance would maybe give somebody. I'm not saying that that's the wrong path for someone, but for my son, it was. And he knew it. He knew it in his gut. And as a parent, I was so in tune with him. I. I knew this wasn't his calling. I know he's an entrepreneur. I know he's a creative. I know he's highly sensitive. He's a visionary. And for me, as, as a parent to be so connected and in tune with my son, I helped guide him to what he really is the happiest doing. And mainly being. Because those decisions that we're talking about will lead you to the experiences of your life. And sometimes you're not going to want certain experiences. So those decisions are really, really important. So now he's made the decision to be an entrepreneur. And now life is taking him in directions and he's meeting people, he's working with people. All in alignment with his true calling. So as parents, we can help and guide our children and give them permission that you don't have to be and be doing what everyone is doing. You know, I see you, I see your potential. I've known you. This is what I see in you. And when we get that present enough with our children, that's what makes the biggest difference. The problem is that we're not present enough in our own lives to recognize our own potential. And so that's why getting quiet for adults is so important because this is what is going to help you guide your children. And by the way, I've had teenagers read this book and they love it too. So they're able to lead themselves maybe when a parent is not able to. And that's, that's okay. Sometimes we're not able to as adults in certain times of our lives.
Now you mentioned a few times that you work with clients. Are you still actively taking on new clients?
I am taking on new clients. We do a full day together. And that's, that's just always been my sweet spot. Even from that little girl on the playground. One on one, one on one in the dental chair. One on one in my retreats, that's. I go deep. We do soul connection. My gift is to really see someone's potential and to help them get to the business of being that.
Okay. Yeah. If there's a way for people to connect with you, I'd love to share that in the show notes so they can reach out if they're feeling called to and if it's appropriate for them.
Yes.
What haven't I asked you? Or what's a question that you haven't been asked about the book, about the journey that you're on, the work that you're doing that needs to be asked and the world needs to hear the answer to.
It's, it's so simple. It makes me laugh because I just, I always tune into my intuition in these, in these moments because they're so, so profound. Profound. The way that you ask them in particular. Life is always there supporting us and teaching us when we can just be present to our lives and everything going on around us that is our greatest teacher. It's not the noise that we're going to listen and learn much. It's just everyday simple things in, in life. There's no need to feel lost when you can just walk out your your door and be present to life. What a gift.
So true. Well said. You know, one of the things I share with my clients is all the answers you're looking for exist in this present moment. And if we can be present to it, the answers are showing up in so many different ways. It doesn't just have to be one way because we live in a fractal universe where there's infinite, you know, solutions for every problem. And it's just wonderful to, to hear you articulate your message. I love the book. I listened to the audiobook version and and I will say I really enjoyed your soothing voice and the music and the way the book is structured. So thank you for creating such a wonderful work of art and inspiring me to be always a better version of myself in your presence and others that you've influenced in a positive way. And thank you for bringing this work to the world. It's long overdue and very much needed. And I'm so grateful that you're the purveyor and carrier of this message because I can't think of anyone better.
