Half vs Elf exercise

Sachin Patel walks through a sorting exercise from Joe Polish: list your tasks and activities as either Half (hard, annoying, lame, frustrating) or ELF (easy, lucrative, fun). Accounting goes in Patel's Half column. The point is to outsource or eliminate the draining stuff and spend more time on what energizes you.

Now, this actually segues perfectly into the next thing that we're going to be talking about, which is an exercise that is crucial to our sanity, as you'll soon find out. And it helps us in identifying the things that are serving us and the things that are no longer serving us. So when I joined Genius Network, which is a mastermind that I belong to, the first thing that we did was this exercise. So I'm going to save you $25,000, and we're going to do this together right, right now. And it's so simple, but usually it's the simple things that work the best. So this exercise is called Half versus Elf. And why it segues so perfectly from Liana's conversation into this exercise is because this is where we get to release the things that are no longer serving us, or at least identify them. And it also allows us to identify the things that we love doing and do more of that. So. So write this down. Half stands for hard, annoying, lame, and frustrating. Hard, annoying, lame, and frustrating. And ELF stands for easy, lucrative, and fun. So this actually comes from my friend Joe Polish, who wrote the book just released through Hay House called what's In It For Them? If you're in our mentorship, you will be getting a copy of this. And all I need you to do is write down the word half on one half of a page and the word ELF on the other half of the page right at the top. And this is such a simple exercise. However, I do not want you to let the simplicity of this exercise reduce its value in any way, shape, or form. So what you're going to do as you start filling out your list is you're going to identify the things. The things, the people, the places, the circumstances, the projects you're working on, the software that you're using, whatever the case may be, okay? It could be personal, it could be professional. It could be something around the house that's driving you nuts, that's hard, annoying, lame, and frustrating. So the idea here, you're not going to share this, you know, the whole list, at least with anyone else. So if somebody in your life is hard, annoying, lame, and frustrating, then so be it. So we want to write these things down without judging them. Okay? So the idea here isn't to judge what we're writing down, but just to write it down. And on the right hand side of your page, underneath Elf, you want to write down the things that are easy, lucrative, and fun. So what are the things that are easy, lucrative, and fun? For me, I'll give you an example. Hard, annoying, annoying, lame. And frustrating is accounting. I'm not a bookkeeper type of person. I am on the Colby score. I have a very low follow through score, okay? So I'm not the type of person that likes to do that kind of stuff, and it's not my strong suit. So get. Guess what? I just figured out if I make enough money, I could pay someone else to do that. And for me, it's just easier to make more money than to figure things out myself and not have to do them. Some things are things that we just despise doing.
