How to Amplify The Law of Attraction with Andrew Kap and Sachin Patel

This is a YouTube interview (Sachin Patel interviewing Andrew Kap) about applying and amplifying the Law of Attraction. Andrew shares his origin story (personal setbacks in 2008), explains the framework (energy, feelings matter more than mere thinking), and gives practical methods: daily recorded gratitude messages with an accountability partner, the "time-lapse" gratitude method (15 items: 5 past / 5 present / 5 future), and scripting (journaling in present tense). He emphasizes enjoying methods (do them for the process, not out of desperate need), bypassing the ego by programming the subconscious, keeping practices brief (5–10 minutes/day), and using tools like HeartMath and hypnotherapy when appropriate. The interview closes with recommended next steps (pick a simple daily method and be consistent).

Okay, there we go. Hello my friends, and welcome to perfect practice. Today I am very excited because I am interviewing Andrew Cap. And Andrew is somebody who I've recently got to meet through a mentorship that I belong to called the Tribe for Leaders. And our, our fellow mentor and friend Kevin Thompson runs this group. And he puts me in groups with amazing and influential people who are trying to make the world a better place and grow their business in meaningful and powerful ways so they can impact more lives. And we belong to these pods. So every quarter or so we get shifted into pods. And the universe has a mysterious but very systematic way of organizing things. And Andrew and I became part of a pod together just starting this year. And in that process, we've gotten to know know each other a little bit more. And Andrew's written a fantastic book which I've had the pleasure of diving into. And as you can see, it is called the Last Law of Attraction book you'll ever need to read. And you know, many of us might be familiar with the Law of Attraction through books like the Secret and other, you know, ancient principles and scripture even talks about this. However, Andrew's taken this information, made it extremely accessible and practical, and made it so that we can take it to that next level where the magic actually starts happening. So today I'm excited to share this information with all of you practitioners because we are in the attraction business. We are in the attraction business of attracting the right clients, attracting people that we can help and serve, attracting the right circumstances in our lives. And, and as you'll learn today, there's an actual formula for this and I've been applying it already. So I had a chance to read the, or listen to the audio. I said read the audiobook. But actually listening to the audiobook and it's allowed me to deepen my gratitude, practice and my self awareness around what I'm asking for and how I'm showing up in the world. So that's what I hope that you all get out of this. And I'm going to invite all of you to grab the book, either the audio version or the written version. I'm going to order the written version. After I started listening to it, I realized that the exercises are probably going to be more powerful if I can see, you know, the written text and the written words. So I'm going to encourage all of you to buy the written version of the book and keep this on your nightstand. Keep this close so that you can actually dive into it. And what it's going to do is it's going to make you a much more powerful agent of this cosmic magic that the universe is constantly doing for us when we apply the formula. So, without further ado, Andrew, thanks for being here today.
Sachin, thanks so much for having me. And thank you, by the way, for the compliment in the book. In the little time that I've had with you in that pod that we share together, I think anyone knows this, you are clearly a man of integrity. So when I get that kind of praise on someone that I know is calling it straight, it's. It's the highest compliment I can receive. So thank you for that and. And thank you for letting me come on. I'm really excited where we might take this conversation.
Yeah, well, let's go deep because I want people to get as much value out of this as they possibly can. And I always like to start from the origin story. So I'd love to know what prompted you to write this book.
Yeah. Wow. We'll see how well I condense this, because this is a long story that I'm going to try to make short. I actually learned about Law of Attraction way back in 2004 as, you know, a budding and struggling entrepreneur trying to figure out the secret to success, the secret to happiness, the secret to fulfillment, and Law of Attraction. Be candid, it was just one modality of many that I was exploring putting my toe in the pool for. And to be candid, it wasn't exactly reliable. It was very hit and miss. And I find that a few years later that it was actually me who wasn't reliable. It was me who was hit and miss because I hit a really Harsh Wall in 2008, where in the span of just a few days in that week, I lost that company that I was trying to build and my girlfriend of three years, all in one fell swoop. And to be a little dramatic, it kind of felt like 90% of my life just vanished in the blink of an eye. And I think a lot of people can relate to having whatever situation look yourself in the mirror and say, okay, this isn't working. Something needs to change. What can I do? And I had this very weird simultaneous epiphany and moment of indignation where I looked back on those couple of years was like, okay, thinking about it. Whenever I actually did those Law of Attraction exercises, we'll call them, things started to happen, but then I would just stop. So I said, you know, what if I stop stopping? And that's why I made this choice. I'm like, listen, I don't care what happens. I don't care when it happens, why it happens, how it happens. I don't care about any of that. I'm going to go all in with this thing. And when I say all in, I don't mean all day, every day. Because as angry as I was with myself, I was wise enough at that point, fortunately, to know that wasn't sustainable. But what I could do was five or ten minutes a day of these methods that I was already doing that I already understood. And I can even tweak them a little bit to make it easier for me to be consistent with them. And it was kind of like a movie because two weeks later I felt better, felt a lot better than anyone with a broken heart had business feeling. Three months later, I'm in a brand new way, healthy relationship. Four months later, I'm making more money than at any point in my life before then. And six months later, everything's different. I'm in the best shape of my life. I'm waking up happy and fulfilled. And I basically learned the hard way, a bit of a slap from the universe, that this thing, and we'll call it the Law of Attraction, is it works when you work it. And it took me 11 years to make a decision to write. I never planned to write the book, but I got to a point 11 years later where I'm like, okay, I want to do something new in my business. But to be kind of candid and harsh, what can I do? And what road can I go down where I won't be bored or impatient interacting with my customers? What is it about my life that's really key that I haven't really explored publicly yet? Like, oh, well, here's this thing that's part of every, every day of my life. And I basically had to give myself the permission to say, okay, like, there's not even hundreds of Law of Attraction books out there. There's like a thousand. And if I'm going to write something, I've got to say something new or contribute something new to the space. I can't just have another book because what's the point? Hence the very bold title and simultaneously very bold promise. So, like, I gave myself permission, I'm going all in with this and I'm going to finally put to rest, you know, the situation that I'd been through in my life where I went book to book to book to book without ever actually implementing. And that's my long story almost short of what got us here today.
I love that. Just like many Entrepreneurs, our mess becomes our message, and it takes courage to put it out there. And I love that you're looking out for everyone who comes after you on this journey to find this formula and start applying it so they can make it work for themselves. So, just so we can create an operating definition for people who aren't familiar with the term law of attraction, perhaps you could define that for us.
Absolutely. You know, law of attraction, as I define it, it's, it's rooted in the, the understanding and I guess if someone's new, the, the assumption that everything is energy, your energy, I'm energy. The devices that we're speaking on is energy, our thoughts are energy, and all energy vibrates at frequencies and like frequencies tend to attract other like freque. Under that premise, assuming that that's true, you can be very intentional about the frequencies that you put out through your thoughts and invite better circumstances into your life. And a quick example is like, you know, a job promotion that someone might want. You know, they think about the job promotion and they get it. Now, to quickly answer to skeptics out there, some people are probably saying, well, Andrew, that's nice and everything, but I've been thinking about my job promotion for like a year. What's your answer for me? To which I say, okay, great. When you're thinking about that job promotion, do you feel excited and confident and feeling anticipation, or are you frustrated and impatient and sad and lost? Because the way you feel about the thing is actually indicating whether you're thinking about that thing or you're inadvertently thinking about the lack of it. You're frustrated because you don't have it, therefore you're putting out the energy and the intention and instructing universe not to give it to you. And P.S. if anyone doesn't believe in the universe, that's fine. Let's talk about your subconscious mind. You're sending a very loud, very definitive statement to your very powerful subconscious mind, still the world's most powerful supercomputer, that you don't have what you want. So it's, it's not just the fact that our thoughts attract reality, but how we feel about those things are really more accurate to whether we're actually thinking about what we want or what we don't want.
Our cells are eavesdropping on our subconscious mind. And, you know, one of the things that I learned is the brain cannot think in negatives. So when we think about the things that we don't want or when we have mixed emotions about what we don't have, we're like you said, we're just kind of locking that situation in as opposed to being excited about it. You know, sometimes people are scared of their goals instead of excited by their goals. And chemically that might be the same. Right. If we look at their body's chemistry, the neurotransmitter that they're secreting, the hormones that they're secreting might be very similar, but the interpretation of the situation is very different. So I love how you phrased it that way. And I'm just going to pay skeptic here for those people that might be a little bit hesitant to, to and we'll dive deeper into this. So there's no buy in really. It's apply it and you'll witness the magic. But I remember, you know, one of the first time I heard the secret, which is probably many people's kind of first experience with this idea of the law of attraction. And perhaps it was even your, one of your first experiences with it. You know, they said like attracts like. And we've heard our whole lives that opposites attract. So maybe you can unpack that a little bit for people who have, who've always bought into that idea that opposites are what attract.
So it's really interesting because there's thoughts, there's intentions, there's energy, and then there's words and then there's meaning. And you know, going off track a little bit to then circle back to this and give you hopefully a good answer. There are certain words out there that are just so loaded that they mean so many different things to so many different people. And I say different. I don't mean just one thing for one person. I mean, I mean like 20 things for one person. Words like love, words like God, words like sex. So when words like gratitude, by the way gratitude's been, which is so powerful, even that's a loaded term now because people bring a lot of, a lot of meaning to it based on everyone advising that they, that they use it, which I advise also. So when you talk about, you know, opposites attract, that's most often, more often than not is in the context of a relationship between two different people where there's qualities that they're just attracted to that they don't have. And therefore since they have the they feel or they perceive or they assume the lack within themselves, they're trying to find meaning outside of that. But, but when we say like attracts like in the context of law of Attraction, it's really just about the same energy, the same tempo of, you know, you're thinking about money, and then it's the energy of money that's being attracted. You're thinking about love, not the qualities of that person specifically, although you can do that. And you're attracting love for. For one. From one person romantically, through friendship, through whoever it might be. So it all comes down to the words we use, the meaning that we assign, and what comes out of it.
I had an interesting experience today. I tweaked my shoulder last week, and my wife's like, oh, you got to go see this practitioner. His name's Gurdeep. And he's like, you got to go see Dr. Gurdeep. And I'm like, I'm on quarantine right now. I'm coming. This. Today's my last day. So I'm actually, you know, able to actually step outside my house here in Canada, not because I was sick, but because of just the way the rules are written. I traveled, and you got to stay and stay indoors and in your home for. For 14 straight days. And, you know, lo and behold, on the day that my sentence has expired, I get a message from him. And he's messaging me. He's like, hey, just, you know, I wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you guys. I love you all, and, you know, I'm sure you're out there changing the world, making it a better place. That was literally his message literally about an hour ago. And here we are in our house talking about him, and I literally haven't had any communication with him for at least six months to a year. So totally not random. And it just goes to show you that when you kind of put that vibration out there, that resonant frequency of, hey, I need this person, his spidey senses are probably going off. And maybe he doesn't know exactly why he needs to reach out to me, but he's just putting a frequency of love out there. And here he is showing up in my inbox. And I'm sure that this happens to people all the time, and we kind of dismiss it, right? And we say, oh, my God, that's crazy. I was just thinking about you instead of understanding that it's not crazy. It's a capability. And so what I'd love to do is I want to learn from you. So I've actually got my notebook here. If you see me looking down, it's because I'm taking notes as we're talking, because I think I'm probably like a 7 out of 10 on the law of attraction kind of User scale. And I want to learn from somebody who's. Maybe you'll call yourself, I don't know if you'll call yourself a 10, because I know it's an ever evolving process, but at least somebody who's from further ahead in this journey, who can, who can coach me and coach everyone who's listening on how to deepen that. Right? Because I see it happening all the time, I witness it happening, and I want to know, okay, how do I take that a step deeper? How do I go just a little bit further into the water with this so that I could eventually learn how to swim and really leverage this tool for the betterment of the world. Right. Because, you know, you know, I'm trying to make the world a better place by making people's lives higher quality, healthier, happier, more whole. And people who are listening to this are trying to do the same. However, if our thoughts and our desires aren't vibrating at the correct frequency or we're not practicing the systems that you have, then we could be leaving a lot on the table. And sometimes what happens is when something doesn't work the way people think it's going to work, they're very dismissive of it. And the consequence of that is they're giving up on something without knowing what they were doing, right or wrong, to fully leverage it. So let's talk about gratitude. Since you brought that up, I'd love to know. Perhaps you can start by sharing what your gratitude practice is, and then we can dive a little bit deeper into how to anchor gratitude in, so that we're not just practicing gratitude in the Instagram way. Right. Kind of just momentary gratitude, but really anchoring this as. As part of our life on a daily basis. So maybe you can start by sharing what your practice is.
Absolutely. And just as a quick preamble to the practice, just the mindset behind the practice for everyone listening. Because I appreciate the compliment that I might be further along, but technically I might not. Because the key, in my opinion, to getting better at this, for lack of a better word, is, is more about self love, self respect, self appreciation, not getting down on yourself. So, and I'm making an assumption about you, Sachin, but I would imagine you've been working on yourself for a while, so you've had situations where something wouldn't go your way and you had to learn to be patient with yourself and not to beat yourself up about something. So for everyone listening out there, it's kind of same with Law of Attraction, where you might try to go down the road of trying a method. And people will unfairly judge themselves if they don't have this explosion of positive emotion when. When they don't realize all you need is just to feel kind of good and you're doing it right. With that in mind, I'm saying that because a huge component, in my opinion, in my experience, is about taking the pressure off. It's about not assigning requirements of how well you're going to feel or the timing or manner in which things play out. I like to have. I like to find ways of feeling good while thinking about what I have or what I want, or both. Sometimes more intentionally, sometimes less intentionally, but with the attitude of an open ended invitation to the universe or whatever you might believe in to pleasantly surprise you with the thing that you want even faster and better than you would have imagined. With that attitude and that understanding in mind, the one thing I do every single day because I do different methods for my book and I take my own medicine, I do stuff for my YouTube, but the thing I do every single day is I pull out my phone and I record a message for whatever I'm grateful for that day. And I. And it's always worded in the present tense. Sometimes it's about things that are here, sometimes it's about things that, that have been here. Sometimes it's about things that are on the way. But I leave a message in the present tense of all the things I'm grateful for. And I send that message to my friend across the country who in turn does the same thing for me. And I'm always being strategic. I'm a strategy guy about this. Like, I want to be practical and I want to be basic and I want to do something that's consistent with human psychology. And so not fighting myself. So I chose someone in a way where I know that it's. It's easy to lose track. So I've chosen something where there's a little extra social pressure. Not too much that I hate it because it should never feel like a commitment, it should always feel like a choice. But enough where like I'm going to do this every day for him, he's gonna do it every day for me. And the really cool thing is sometimes Hill's message will come first, sometimes my message will come first. And, and whoever got the message first will be inspired by hearing that before even sending theirs. And we've been doing this every single day for over five years now. Meaning he's seen me, but he knew me before I wrote the book. He's seen it get to 90,000 copies sold and counting. He's seen me grow my YouTube channel. I've seen him make tremendous leaps with his relationships with his wife and his daughters, professionally with what he's got going. Like we've seen each other in all these things improving over time without pressure. But that, yeah, all it is is pulling out the recorder and hitting the record button and just talking. And it could be a 30 second message, it could be a five minute message, it could be whatever. I feel inspired in that moment. And just one more thing to make this the longest answer ever. The reason I do this is because I can just as easily write it down or type it out. But I. You could probably tell in the chatterbox since this aspect specifically comes easy to me. I will do this every day. Whereas for me, sometimes if I'm handwriting my hand will cramp and I don't even get to do all the stuff I want to do. So I am using my own knowledge that I have about myself and my own tendencies, my own preferences, my own personality. And I am honoring that and going that in direct in that direction with the method I choose in the way in which I choose to do it. But that's my long winded way of telling you what I do every single day.
I love that. I love that. Is that what you refer to as a time lapse method or is that something different?
It's a place. So the time lapse method actually is where you will most likely either write something down or type something. And by the way, time lapse method, of all the methods. It sounds weird to say this, and it sounds even weird to me that I came up with this determination because I was talking about words and meaning and the meaning that we assigned to things. But I look back on 2008 where I made that turnaround and I attribute the time lapse as the number one contributing method of all the stuff that really helped me launch my finances. I don't know why it just feels that way. I do know why because of details I put in it. But the time lapse method, and I hope anyone feels free to, to try this out. Which by the way, I teach this on my YouTube channel. So you, you're welcome to buy my book, but don't feel like you have to spend money in order to get a review on this or just keep listening to Sachin and this episode. But the way it works is you're going to write down 15 things that you're grateful for. Five are from your past, five are from your present and five are from your future. And you're going to put them all in the present tense. It doesn't matter whether they've occurred or not, or whatever might. Like if I say my penthouse apartment, you don't know if that's on the way, if I'm living in it or if I used to. I just said my penthouse apartment, or I'm grateful that I get to live in such a wonderful penthouse apartment, or whatever. In any case, I've written these things down chronologically. And then what I'm going to do is I'm going to kind of switch up the order of the list. So maybe the first thing is a present, followed by a past, followed by a future, followed by another present. And then when that jumbled up list, I'm just going to read through each item one at a time, out loud or in my head, whatever I want to do, and give myself 20 to 60 seconds to feel gratitude for that thing that I just read. And here's the cool thing about this, and here's where you can tell I'm really a strategy guy about this. Again, it's about feeling good in ways that are really healthy for you. Two thirds of that list is real, meaning it either has happened for you already or it is happening. And therefore, the gratitude that you feel for those things specifically will have a confidence and an enthusiasm and just a momentum and energy to them that can't be manufactured or faked. But because we as humans don't downshift psychologically very easily, we're tricking our vibration, we're tricking our psychology through those future items. And the enthusiasm carries over into the gratitude when we're reading the future items as well. So whether you believe in the universe or God, or your subconscious mind or a combination, you're feeling wonderful while at the same time programming your life for future successes. That's the time lapse method. And you can probably tell by the way I'm describing it, I absolutely love it. I'm so grateful that I get to do it every day or whenever I want to.
I love that. That's awesome. And it's so simple, right? Because one of the things with Law of Attraction is people say you got to fake it till you make it. And this is not that. This is actually mixing things up with things that are actually present in your life right now, things that have already happened for you. And so I love that you're kind of mixing it all in there and speaking to it in the present tense. And you're allowed to feel those emotions and they're genuine. Because it is hard to manufacture emotions. Right. Especially because in your head you're probably like, oh, this is like total bs. I don't have any of these things. I'm none of these things. And here I am trying to generate an emotion around it and it can be difficult to do. So I love that. That's awesome.
Yeah. And thank you. And just to say, add one other thing here, it's all about phrasing something in a way that feels good. So sometimes if people get too specific, that's where it feels bad. So, example, for example, someone says, you know, I'm so grateful for, you know, brand new souped up Camaro that is on the way in 90 days. Okay. For some people, deadlines feel really good. And for some people, deadlines feel really bad. If you're someone where it feels good, beautiful. But if it feels bad, that means every single day you're saying that you're feeling worse and worse and worse and pushing it away, whereas you could just change. I'm so happy and grateful for the souped up Camaro. You don't have to put a target date if you don't want to. And it's weird. I know, as I say, that I know a lot of people, especially entrepreneurs here and like, well, listen, no, you need goals, you need deadlines. And I say, maybe you do and maybe you don't. Depends on who you are. But also, it's in the context. It's one thing to have a goal and a deadline of like, oh, I want to make sure I go 100 straight days of doing 50 outbound calls. That's a tangible thing that happens every single time. But when we get into a place where we're forcing things that are not within our control, we have to be very careful in my opinion of how we feel about that. If we feel confident, then, yeah, run with it. But if you don't feel confident, all you're doing is stilting your own progress inadvertently.
And I love how you differentiated that. I think it's when we have something that we are in full control over, like the outbound calls. Right. Or I'm going to wake up at this time, or these are specific action steps that I'm going to take. I think that's much more attainable. Whereas if we're trying to draw something in, then having these dates can lead to disappointment. One of my college roommates told me that his dad always used to tell him this, that the vehicle of disappointment is expectations. And that stuck with me my whole life. Because one of the teachings from the Bhagavad Gita is to detach from the fruit. And sometimes we become so attached to the fruit that we forget who we're becoming in the process or what's happening in the process and the journey. Another thing that came up as, as you were sharing that with respect to deadlines and timelines and things like that, is that from the, from the Tao Te Ching, where they, where Lao Tzu says that nature rushes nothing, yet everything is accomplished. And so as humans, we try to rush things. And the natural law of the universe is, hey, things will happen in due time when, when the timing is right, but everything will get accomplished. And so I love what you said about attaching timelines and how that can sometimes sabotage us. And if things don't happen in that timeline, then, you know, our belief, our level of belief starts to decline when in reality, it may not have been the issue. Right. The issue may have been something else and not the fact that, you know, we set this or that we had these unrealistic expectations.
Yeah. I think a lot of people, you know, they hear about the law of Attraction and they get frustrated with it because assuming they buy into it, they're like, oh, great. Well, now I've got to manage my emotions all day, every day. And it becomes a very exhausting endeavor. And I like, for me, it's like, it's not about managing yourself second to second. It's about managing yourself strategically. So again, it's like, it's not like me. I know if I worry about my thoughts and emotions every single second, I'm automatically putting myself in a space of exhaustion, frustration. So that hurts me. So what, what. What's the real, in my opinion, right. Way of managing yourself? It's again, of knowing how you respond to moments, to circumstances, to deadlines, to whatever it might be, and operating in a way that's consistent or that's in harmony with. With that's going to help you feel good in that process. So, like, again, like, for me, I found that when I let go of a time of when something might happen, I've often been pleasantly surprised by it happening faster and, you know, getting back even to, like, the job promotion example that I gave before, some people, they'll, you know, they'll be doing it and they'll feel great and they still won't get the promotion. They're like, well, this is interesting because I feel great about it every day. It's been three months. I thought it was going to happen at three. They don't realize is four weeks from now they're not going to get the job promotion. They're going to get an offer for a better job in a different company with a better commute, with a higher salary, with more fulfilling work, with more connected colleagues. They're getting the better version because they're not stopping or worrying about or forcing it. It has to be this way. There's so many better ways of things occurring. Like me, I don't have a million subscribers on my YouTube channel right now and I'm okay with like, I'm literally okay with it. It'd be nice. But I know that if I worry about trying to get that, all I'm just going to do is be gritting my teeth every single day and then that's just going to keep more subscribers from coming. Let me enjoy my life in the meantime. Let me enjoy the emails I get, let me enjoy the book sales, let me enjoy my day to day experience. And then the million happens. Or it doesn't, but either way, I get a win out of it.
Awesome. Now, one of the things you talk about is how our ego can get in the way, and in more ways than one. But I'd love to hear how it can get in the way in the context of the law of attraction.
Yeah, absolutely. So again, following that thread of we assign different meaning to different words and concepts and things like that, I fully acknowledge I'm not a psychotherapist or psychologist, so the terms I'm using here in my own way, you're not going to find them used in the same way in a textbook. But the way I describe it is we've got three minds, we've got the conscious mind, we've got the subconscious mind, and in the middle we've got what I define as the ego. Again, it's a loaded term. My definition of the ego, it only has one job in this entire world and that's to keep you alive. Which is good news or bad news, depending on where you are in your life right now. Because that means whatever money problems you might have, whatever relationship problems you might have, whatever health problems you have, right now your ego is scanning the terrain, is looking around saying, okay, my person is alive and the last thing I want to do right now is risk the status quo with any kind of changes.
Because.
Because I can't predict if that change that my person thinks is good is actually good. And what I mean by that, to expound a little bit, is there's someone listening to this. They Want to be rich and famous. But for all your ego knows, if you're listening to this, for all your ego knows is when you become famous, you're going to get a stalker, and that's a threat to your survival. For all your ego knows is when you get rich, you're going to have distant family coming out of the woodwork, trying to sue you for your home. It's a threat to your survival. So your ego, as I define it, it actually loves you. And this is a misguided attempt to protect you, to do it. Thinks it's protecting you, not realizing that you could be so much more protected and safer and your probability of survival would actually increase if you got the things that you wanted. Because while your ego is interested in your survival, it has no concern and no regard for your satisfaction, your happiness, your fulfillment, or your comfort. Once someone can grasp that concept, then they understand, like, oh, this is why I go to the gym and I work out and I have a great workout, and then the next day, I just don't feel like doing it, even if I'm not in pain. This is why I learned about the law of attraction, and I was able to do 10 straight days of methods. But then on the 11th day, some voice told me, you know what? You've been doing enough. You could skip a day. You can skip a week, you could skip a year. This is why there's always that voice in the back of your head playing on your fears and uncertainties and doubts to keep you. Doesn't want to hurt you and throw you downward. It wants to keep you where you are because where you are is alive.
Yeah. It kind of keeps you in that safe space. Right. That comfort zone.
Yeah. And you said something earlier in the interview where I wish I'd remembered it now, but it was where I think people will doubt themselves or something along those lines, or they'll talk themselves out of doing a sales call or something, because their ego's like, oh, if this person does the outbound calls, they're going to be a millionaire within two years. And I don't know how we're going to survive that. I don't know if that's going to mess things up. I don't know if this person's going to have an addiction problem as a result, like the ego. It's so funny because the ego is so adept and so devious at playing on your thoughts and emotions and fears, uncertainties and doubts, and it's so good at projecting on what might happen in so many weird ways. And yet it can't see how you're going to win and benefit when you actually get those things that you want. But the good news is, once you get those things, it will fight tooth and nail to defend that new position.
Oh, good to know. So how do you reprogram that? Because I know if you watch enough TV like I did growing up, you hear the horror stories of people who encounter extreme wealth. Right. And I don't know if that's done intentionally, but you hear the people coming out of the woodworks, right? More money, more problems. We hear things like this being installed into our. Into our minds constantly. So how do we. Is there a way to rewrite that code so that where we are becomes the uncomfortable zone and where we want to go becomes more comfortable?
Absolutely. And here's the cool thing. This is why I mentioned we've got the conscious mind and we got the subconscious. I said kind of like in the middle that we have the ego. I kind of under the radar, gave the scale of. Of power and potency because the conscious mind is kind of like the weakest. That's, you know, willpower, where it runs out, the ego is way stronger. Again, this is why you can't will your way to working out every single day without so much. You know, why so many times people fall off or whatever happens, because your ego is just way too strong. But your ego is nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing compared to your subconscious mind, your subconscious mind. It's like a. It's like if your ego were to fight your subconscious mind, it'd be like you fighting a grizzly bear. There's no hope. There's nothing. And what we want to do, therefore, is we want to bypass the ego and access the subconscious mind. And we do that with simple manifesting methods, law of attraction techniques. Whether it's my book or anyone else's book, whether it's my YouTube channel or anyone else's channel. Just gratitude methods alone. What you're doing is you are programming the subconscious mind with good thoughts and good feelings. You are sending these things, even like you're feeding your subconscious mind images of success with money. But it's also formulating success with relationships and health as well, because it sees the whole grid. It sees everything for you. So by. By doing it in a way that's easy. That's why I say five minutes a day. Because even if, even if you love this, by the way, we're too busy to do an hour a day. I mean, if you can do more power to you, me, I'VE never. I've learned the hard way. For me, I can't do. Hasn't worked for me, but I can do five minutes. I can do 10 minutes. That is more than enough. Because positive emotions and thoughts are so much more powerful than negative ones. Just finding a method or a list of methods that you enjoy for five minutes doing that every single day, that's where you get the consistency. That's where you get the momentum, and things just start to happen for you. So you're taking the ego basically out of the equation without killing it because you don't want to kill it. I mean, it's. Again, it's on your side. It's just not serving you in this specific situation right now because you have not fed better instructions, more potent instructions to your subconscious.
What's your take on things like hypnotherapy and interventions like that?
I've never engaged in that very thoroughly myself, so. So I'll say is this. If it is successful in access. In accessing the subconscious mind, then I believe it works. So I guess that goes down to, like, okay, do we have a hypnotherapist who knows what they're doing? Do we have a person with an open, receptive mind? Do we have a hypnotherapist that can overcome it? If they don't, is that even a possibility? So I would say I'm a proponent of hypnotherapy in so much as it's actually accessing the subconscious mind in a healthy way with the messages that you want.
All right, so for people who are practicing the law of attraction, what are they missing? Maybe there's, like, one thing that they're not doing correctly or they could be doing better that's preventing them. Because, you know, a lot of these techniques can be like combination locks. You might know the first few numbers, but you have to know them all to really get the results. So what would that last number be, in your opinion?
Yeah, so. So it's so interesting. Secret was long. It was kind of long ago. I mean, you know, it was 2006. I'm sure there are people listening right now that they remembered a secret and they remember getting really excited, and they remember really trying, and they remember a couple of things happening, and then they remember either quitting or not work. Like, long story short, it came to the point where, like, you know what? This is a scam. This doesn't work.
It just.
It's not real. It's just a. Who knows what it is? Okay, the number one mistake that people make in the context of Law of Attraction, specifically in related areas, is they do the methods for the sake of getting the results. Now, as I say that, people are like, what? Like Andrew, like, what's wrong with you? Of course I'm doing. Why else would I do the methods other than to get the results that I want in my life? And here's where it's so tricky, and here's where it's so insidious, and here's where this fine line, the subtle distinction that once you see it, it changes everything. When you're doing the method to get the result, you are inadvertently screaming with your vibration and your psychology that you don't have the thing that you want. When you're gritting your teeth through that really long meditation, like, oh, job promotion, you're. You don't realize that you're screaming at the universe, I don't have the job promotion. Don't give it to me. You're screaming it energetically. What you want to do instead is do the method for the sake of, of enjoying the method. Because then you're sending out the vibration, then there's a loose energy. Then you don't have this energy of requirement that's stifling you and keeping you from you want. Then you're not sending out the signal of what you don't want. You're sending out the signal what you do. So when you just take for granted, like, listen, this is going to come in its own time, in its own way, and it's most likely going to come faster and better than what I'm expecting. I'll leave that to the universe. I'm just going to feel good about this method because if you can't feel good about the method, you're not going to do it anyway. Like, the last thing I want is for anyone to do, you know, pick a method out of my book and do it every day when they don't enjoy it. Because if you're not enjoying it, well, then all you're doing is spending five minutes of putting out negativity in your vibration and stifling yourself versus anything productive. So as long as you can find methods that are enjoyable and then do the method for the sake of enjoying the method without worrying about the result, you know what the result is. You're envisioning it, but you're not worrying about it having to come through. That's a subtle, clean distinction where once somebody gets that, everything changes. And I mean everything. And again, that's where. Go back to my story of Like I said, I don't care what happens. I don't care when it happens. I don't care why it happens. I know nothing's good is going on right now, so I might as well just do this and see what happens. And once I learned to let go in that way, things happen for me. And I've seen time and again with other people doing this, whether the readers of my book or not. Again, this isn't like, like, I mean, I obviously I'm. I feel really good about my book, but it's not like the blm, like someone I teach scripting in my book. There's someone that I interviewed on my YouTube channel. She used scripting before my book ever came out. So even though I teach it, I didn't teach it to her, but she used scripting to go from zero to a million dollars, or to be more accurate, $300 to a million dollars in 16 months. Awesome. Because she was just added every single day and she wasn't like, trying to force it. She was just in the flow, in the moment, because she enjoyed the actual process of scripting, which, by the way, if anyone wonders what that is, that's basically just journaling about your life in present tense terms as if you're already living your dream life.
Now, scripting and the time lapse method, just for. Just for clarity, is that the same thing or is. Are those two different things?
The distinction I draw is like, with the time lapse method, you're writing down like 15 statements or even like half statements. Whereas with scripting, you're like writing a story like you're writing. So here I'll give an example. This is great. I'll give an example of scripting that I did when I was putting my book out. All right, I'm so happy and grateful for this wonderful book that's touching so many lives. I'm grateful to be selling tens on tens on tens of thousands of copies. I'm grateful for all the 5 star rave reviews I love every day, receiving all the emails I get from readers describing how the book impacted them and how it brought a smile to their face or shifted their perspective or changed them. Like, that's scripting. I'm just breaking it down. Like, I'm really going into the details. And by the way, I can get really general or really specific as long as it feels good and I get as specific as I can while still feeling good. And if I can only get a little specific, I'm not judging myself. I'm like, cool. I still feel Good. Right here in this space. Meaning it doesn't matter. It's not about the specificity of the detail. It's about whether you feel good or not. And once you feel good, even a little good, you've. You've kind of. You've made it. You've done everything you need to, and there's no need to put any extra pressure on yourself.
Hey, you know, one of the things that you talked about in terms of gratitude is like, I learned through the book is, like, just stepping it up a notch. And I write gratitude in my journal. I'm pretty close to daily. I'm not going to lie. Sometimes life gets away from you and you forget to do it. But I would just make a list. So it was a gratitude list. And what I learned through this process is to almost write a gratitude letter. So my computer, before we started recording, I was talking about how grateful I am for technology and my computer. And now I'm going to write my computer a letter for all the different nuances of why I'm grateful for it. Because there's more to it, right? And I think even my wife, I would list my wife and my son for, you know, say that I'm grateful for them, but it would stop there. So now I'm going to, you know, really take it to a whole new level and write down specific details as to why I'm grateful. And in a practice like that, would it be just the things that exist right now or what could I call things into the future or write things into the future? In that practice, you.
Oh, you would most certainly write things into the future, so long as whatever you're writing feels good and not bad. Meaning, like, so again, if. If I were to write right now, I'm going to make. It won't even come to me, but I'm going to make a million dollars in the next 24 hours. It's like, that just feels way too impossible. So that feels bad. But if I'm like, well, I'm making millions and millions of dollars and it's unfolding, it's wonderful, beautiful. So I would say, like, whatever you want in the future is so long as the way you phrase it feels good to you, that that's everything. And just to jump on one point, because I love how you're mentioning, like, you're going to write a letter to your computer, which is a wonderful idea. I anticipate that certain people, again, their ego is doing this to them. They don't even realize it's happening. They feel like they can't do gratitude. Well, like, they can't do it the right way. As if there is a right way. So here's what I'd say to people like that. You want to write down that you're grateful for your computer. Anyone listening out there, but you feel like you don't actually feel grateful for it. I'd go in a different direction and say, okay, imagine someone busts in the room and they're like, they're going to take your computer from you. And the only way you get to keep your computer is if you can convince them why it's valuable to you. Like, all right, well, if I have to convince someone, like, oh, yeah, please let me keep this computer. I'm running my business on it right now. It's my access to email, it's my access to programs. Like, everything I do is through this. If I don't have this right now, I can't complete my interview with Sachin. If I don't have this, I can't do other interviews. I can't check my stats, I can't do email, I can't shop. Like, please. And also I'm like, oh, my God, my computer's awesome. Oh, my God.
My.
My Internet access is awesome. Oh, my God, Amazon is awesome. Oh, my God. This rinky dink online store that no one knows about, but that's perfect products for me. This is awesome. Oh, my God. Microsoft Word, which people drive themselves nuts over. No, it's awesome. I wrote my book using Microsoft Word. And then you're pumped. Like, imagine someone's trying to take a thing from you, try to talk them out of it, and you're like, oh, my God, there's so many things that I have to be grateful for. And I say this often. I am grateful for my heart that's been beating in my chest every second of every minute of every hour of every day of every week of every month of every year of every decade I've been alive, tirelessly moving blood and nutrients to the rest of my body, which has also been serving me. Like, who could not be grateful for their heart hearing me describe it that way? Like, do you even. Does anyone listen? You stop and think your heart is just beating over and over. It's been beating this whole time, this whole interview, your whole life. Who would not be grateful for that? And me being grateful for my heart is inviting abundance through the health of my heart, but it's also simultaneously inviting abundance in relationships, in money, in. In whatever, in business and whatever else. Because good feeling is good. Vibration, good vibration. The universe knows what you want. It'll send things to you.
I absolutely love that. You know, there's a quote that I heard Steve Harvey say, and he said, imagine you woke up tomorrow and only the things you are grateful for today were present in your life. So that story reminds me of that. And it makes it so much easier for us to find things that we're grateful for when we imagine what it would be like not having them and being present to that. So, you know, sometimes we'll even find ourselves complaining about certain things, right? If our computer's loading a little bit slowly or the Internet's, you know, acting up a little bit, we'll start complaining about these things, when in reality it's hard to imagine our lives without them. And so, you know, turning that frustration and anger and turning it into gratitude, I think probably would be a good exercise for all of us. Yes.
And if I may, one more thing to highlight here, because we had an intention going into this interview that we wanted to go deep. I want to shine a spotlight that I hope your audience will agree with me on, that we did go deep. But everything I'm describing, everything I've said is simple. I'm not going to say whether it's easy or not, that's a whole different thing. Everything is simple. And by keeping it simple, you grant yourself the access and the agency to go deep into this stuff. And I invite people to keep that perspective. Like, it doesn't have to be. There's obviously complication also goes deep, but in this context, it's not required for going deep on this and being really successful and really moving in the direction that you want to move, whether you believe in Law of Attraction or not. Again, just me, because I'm Captain Chatterbox. Apologies, getting the gratitude. Let's pretend Law of Attraction isn't even a thing. Well, studies have shown that gratitude. Just experiencing gratitude will improve your confidence, it will reduce your anxiety, it will improve sleep, it will give you a more resilient mindset. There are these scientific biochemistry reasons to feel gratitude that have nothing to do with Law of Attraction, Meaning if you just feel gratitude every single day, even if you don't manage that, that's the thing that you want. If I'm lying or I'm deluded, you're still getting a win in that moment because you're giving yourself the gift of feeling good, and you're giving yourself the positive body chemistry of that where otherwise you might have been worrying about your business or your girlfriend or your boyfriend or Your life or whatever else might be feeling gratitude in and of itself is a win. Whether or not you believe in Law of attraction.
That's why it's a law, right? It's like gravity. Whether you believe it or not, it. It's working 24, 7, 365. So tell us, you know, I'm obviously an owner of the book. What would you say to somebody who's listening to this? What would be their next logical step?
Well, I'll put it this way. I'm going to give links, but these aren't requirements, because here's the thing. If you don't, if you want to pull out your wallet, you can go to lastloveattractionbook.com and it'll take you to the US listing for Amazon. But wherever you are, whatever country you're in, Amazon, audible, like, the book's there and I keep it affordable. But guess what? If you don't want to pull your money, your wallet out, check out my YouTube or anyone's YouTube. I would say whether it's my book, Whether it's my YouTube, whether it's someone else's book, someone else's YouTube, I would invite someone to explore, find a very easy, very convenient manifesting method that they can do just for five minutes a day, and just do it. And you'll know. Because if you're bored or frustrated or restless, well, then that's not the method for you. Try something else you heard. I taught the time lapse. And by the way, when I was talking about my heart and I was talking about the computer, that was a gratitude blitz where you're just rattling off things that you're grateful for. There's no wrong way of doing it. So next step for whatever anyone wants to do, you know, lastlove, attraction, book.com, youTube.com andrew cap or anywhere. Pick a method, try it and enjoy it.
All right. Beautiful. And certainly we'll share the links in the show notes so people can go to them. One thing that comes up for me is that is there any difference between thinking about it in your mind, writing it down, or vocalizing it?
Yes and no. And what I mean by that is we'll get back to the scripting part like I'm told, and I'll believe them. Studies have shown that when you're writing something down, you're making a deeper impression and a deeper imprint in your mind. But for me, technically speaking is more powerful for me because. Well, probably because auditorily there's, there's some value there. But even if even if that wasn't a thing, because I feel good enough and relaxed about enough that, that I can do that consistently every single day, I'm going to get more bang for my buck than the writing part. And I would say this regardless of whether it's writing it or speaking it, any of these things done, any of these things done with consistency is more than enough. So there is a better or more powerful way. But that's like saying, you know, it's like, I want to lift, you know, five. I want to bench press 500 pounds. Is it better if I bench press 525 or 530? It's like, either way, dude, you're bench pressing 500 pounds. You're. You've got a lot of power. That. That's the way I like to describe it and explain it. And almost like a cop out, since I can't tell you definitively which one is better, other than the one that you enjoy is always going to be the best.
So the one you'll do most consistently is going to be the most powerful way to do this.
Yes.
All right, Andrew, this has been so enlightening. I have taken tons of notes, and the book is an excellent reference for people. So I'm going to encourage people to make that investment in themselves, in their current life and in their future. And this is something really we should be teaching our children, something we should be teaching our patients, because they need to be more appreciative of this beautiful body and life that they've been given. And if they're moving and progressing towards a goal, then we know the law of attraction is something that we can leverage as a modality to get them to that goal more consistently. And it also helps, I'm assuming. I just want to maybe spend a couple minutes chatting about this. If we share our goals, like you're sharing your goal with your friend right. Right now, is there power in numbers in sharing what we're trying to manifest in groups? Have you, have you. Do you have any awareness around that?
So ultimately, and it's funny, really goes. Goes down the same thing. It's how you feel about it. Because some people, they'll put their goal out there and then they'll feel a pressure, like there's a healthy pressure and unhealthy pressure. So some people that put it out there and they're like, okay, now I'm going to do it. And those are the types of people where if you tell them they can't do something, it'll fuel them and they'll do it. Whereas some people, they'll do that and like, oh, now I feel this unnecessary pressure. What do I do? So it all. It really is a person by person type of situation, like me. And you know this because we're in a pod together. I'm working on a book right now that has nothing to do with Law of Attraction. Nobody knows the title. Nobody knows what the COVID looks like, even though both of those are complete. Because I'm looking forward to having the book. I want the way my, my energy and my mind works. It's like I want it completed before I show anybody the COVID Just because there's something about giving them the completed thing versus piecemeal. So some people, they want to show you the mansion after they've already bought it, and some people want to show you the photo of the mansion they're going to buy. Whatever makes you feel good. Anyone listening out there? That's what I would recommend.
All right, so it's all about the feelings.
Yeah, it's all about your personal feelings, your personal reaction response to the choices you make and the decisions that you make.
Have you ever used heartmath?
You know, I know the term, but I must admit I'm curious to learn more about it. If I've used it, it's been inadvertent because I don't know what it is specifically.
Okay, so just for everyone who's, who's tuned into this for your benefit too, Andrew is. It's a, a neurofeedback tool. And since you talked about the heart and how grateful you are of your heart, it measures something called heart rate variability. And our heart rate variability is a way of measuring the state of our nervous system. When our heart rate variability is high, it puts us more in a relaxed state, in a parasympathetic state, and in that feel good state. Whereas when it's low, then our heart is indicating to us that through this feedback tool that we're more in a sympathetic dominant state. So what I like to do, and this might be a helpful kind of objective tool for some of your clients, maybe something worth exploring for you as well, is I'll get into a state of coherence. And that's where I'm using my breathing to get myself into a state of parasympathetic tone. And then I'll start thinking different thoughts. And so whenever I have an important decision to make, I literally am talking to my heart and brain, connecting the two. And if the thought takes me out of coherence, then to me, it's like, okay, that's my heart telling me, no, this isn't the right decision for you. Whereas if it goes up, then it's my heart's way of telling me, okay, follow the. Follow this. So literally following your heart in terms of decision making. So I thought that might be a value because that's one of the tools that I use even when I have my clients doing things like setting their pricing. Because one of the things that I've learned in the marketing world and in the sales world is the price only matters to you. Right. If you say a price and it doesn't feel good as we're talking about today, then there's going to be like this weird feeling in the room or even on the call or on the zoom. However you're communicating to that person, there's the vibration that you're putting off is going to change because it's incoherent with what you feel comfortable sharing and expressing. And so what I'll have my clients do is set their pricing based on how they feel in their heart using the HeartMath tool. And the price that drives their coherence upwards is the price that they feel comfortable selling. And they can always adjust that over time. But, yeah, I just thought I'd share that tool with you.
That's so cool. Thank you. I'm glad I understand it more now and then. Definitely going to look into that. Thank you for sharing that with me.
Yeah, absolutely. So thank you again, my friend. This is super awesome. I know there's lots that we could unpack here, and I'd love to invite you back maybe in the next few months as I start practicing this more, you know, intelligently and not to shoot myself down, I think I do a pretty decent job. So I thank you for catching me on that. But as I apply this more strategically and really tap into my feelings, I'd love to unpack on a second interview. I think that would be pretty fun.
That would be my absolute honor. Whenever you want me back, just say the word and I am there. And thank you for the intentionality. I mean, you know this already, but I'm going to say it anyway. The intentionality of your questions. Like, for me, whenever I do interviews, not that I'm hopefully not judgmental, but you can always tell the care with which the podcast host, the show host has for their audience, the way they're steering the conversation. You could tell when the question is pulling value out for the people. And I just want to acknowledge you and compliment you on the quality of that of what you do with that. And in my opinion, you do it so seamlessly and you do it so prolifically. I really appreciate you and I really enjoy the conversation.
That means a lot. I appreciate that. I receive that and greatly appreciate that. And, you know, it's one of those things that I'm continuing to work on, is becoming more, you know, as thoughtful as I can in the questions that I ask and really, you know, listening and asking for the audience. So appreciate you for picking that up. Much love, my friend. And here's to all of your dreams manifesting and attracting everything that you feel good about.
Thank you, my friend. I appreciate you.
My pleasure. Appreciate you, too.
