How's it going, Ricky?
Hey, how's it going?
Amazing. How are you, man?
I'm doing amazing. Absolutely awesome few days so far.
Thank you, thank you. Thanks for being part of it and thanks for being part of the amazing journey we've had together. What I'd love to know, Ricky, is if you could quickly introduce yourself and then I'd love to know what's the best business advice you could offer somebody.
Oh, great question. So My name is Dr. Ricky Brar. I'm a chiropractor by training, but I've actually never worked chiropractically. Right. When I came out of school, I jumped right into functional medicine with Satchin after a long patient journey. And my main goal today is to end needless suffering in individuals that have preventable metabolic issues and fixable gut issues primarily. And I remember when we first met and up until now the things that I had to work through and still remain limiting beliefs at times are going to be the things we've talked about, imposter syndrome, self limiting beliefs like I don't have enough time to do this, but grinding through those. And in terms of the best business advice, the diagram you showed just a little while ago, that's been tattooed metaphorically on my brain, that we can build something that can help an infinite amount of people, we can build something that can help many people and we can build something that can help people one on one. But in order for you to have a big impact on, on people, you're going to have to really over invest in one of those. And if I was only to build one, the, the middle one is the, the preferred option. Building a group program, building a hybrid group program. That's by far the most life changing advice personally, professionally, business wise, all across.
So tell me what that's meant for you in going from one on one. Because that's what we used to do is we used to do one on one and contrast that with going one to many. And I want you to contrast that for yourself personally, but also for the outcomes that you're able to produce for people. And maybe you can talk us through. You know, it's almost like hard to believe that you can get amazing results working with a group. So I'd love for you to kind of speak to that as well.
Yeah, absolutely. So when I first started out, we were doing classical one on one functional medicine appointments where we would do testing. We would sometimes have to wait ages for that testing to come back and we would have to navigate all of that. Finally we'd get Somebody started. And as many people on here know, I know many of you come from backgrounds and health coaching, many of you are practitioners. The results can be very delayed. The reward for the practitioner can be very delayed. And the one thing we can never say is we can guarantee this result. Right? So I know I would go through that long process. We would suffer from burnout, from not getting clients the results they wanted as quick as they wanted. They would take time. But all along, that whole time, if somebody early on had said to me, you could do this to a group of people, I would have said, that's physically impossible. This is too technical. It's too complex. We couldn't do that. So when the pandemic first showed up, it really pushed me. And it was the black swan event that made me go full group. And within the first pilot program I had, the first cohort I had go through the group program, the results were exponentially better, more predictable. People were building relationships, building community. They were blowing each other away, essentially. And then one person might be doing something very specific. They might share it with the group, and then that person starts to get that result. So it really showed that people don't have to suffer on their own, isolated. And I know that's what the last two and a half years has reinforced for so many, that we're isolated, we're on our own, so building that community. But the results now I can confidently say, hey, if you work with us, you listen to us, you will get XYZ result at the end of it. And I could never say that for the first eight years of my career and working with those thousands of people, long hours, lots of back and forth. So, yeah, group programs have. Have changed my life, let me leverage my time, my skill, and it's made me a more confident, happy, fulfilled practitioner at the end of the day.
Yeah, like, you know, just this idea of getting specific, right, and working with a specific audience, with a specific problem that wants it solved in a specific way, that you specifically offer it, right. That product and, you know, customer match is so huge. And I love that we found that, you know, that path for you, because it's tough, right? When you're all over the place, you have one person coming with this problem, another person coming with this problem, another person going with that problem. You're just kind of living in imposter syndrome all the time. But if. If all of your clients had the same problem, no matter what problem we chew, there's an overwhelmingly high number of people that have that problem. Right. So it's the sad reality, but the fortunate reality for us because we can create systems around it. And the other day, Deepa and I were driving to Brampton, and you know, Brampton is about a half hour to two hours away from Mississauga, depending on the time of day. On a good day, it's about, you know, 15 to 25 minutes maybe. And we were driving and one of the things that we realized is, oh, my God, Ricky had to. And we were stuck in traffic a little bit. I'm like, man, Ricky had to drive this every single day to come to the office. Like, he must feel so fortunate now that he doesn't have to do that anymore. And all that time that he would have spent commuting is now spent with his son, right? Is spent with his wife. And, you know, it's just amazing to be able to see that transformation. And now the fact that you're helping so many people and in fact, you've systemized your process, right? And now you offer it to our mentorship clients so that they can take your turn your system and turn it into a turnkey solution for them. So congratulations, and I'd love for you to share a little bit more about how your metabolic program is spreading because recently you've had some great media exposure as well. So maybe you can tell us about that.
Yeah, absolutely. So my specific metabolic reset program, it's more so marketed to the South Asian community because a few years ago, I saw an article in our big local newspaper that they are the number one population for diabetes in the gta, the Greater Toronto area. And I. I really had just like a heartbreaking moment. It was kind of that pivotal shift where I know all of this information. I can help this group of people. These are, quote, unquote, my people, and I'm not helping them. So that then motivated me to apply the metabolic reset principles to that group. And part of the imposter syndrome I remember kicked in because I was like, I don't have a metabolic background or history or I don't have this journey of losing X amount of pounds or getting over a metabolic diagnosis. But I remember a line that often comes up for me that a mutual mentor of our said, a legendary one, the owner of Purina Dog Chow, doesn't eat dog food. Right. So the messaging really allowed us to get out there. And I've been able to get on the local radio circuit, which is like, I thought it was an ancient medium, like, who listens to the radio anymore? But it's allowed us to really get that message Spread across. We're almost up to 100 members and we just launched the program in January of 2022. So we're still in our first year. And the results we've been getting while keeping South Asian traditions and the diet intact has been absolutely jaw dropping. We've had people lose £50, £60, we've had people come off diabetic drugs and now the message is spreading. So we're getting calls of family members, of cousins, of people from all over. And again, to me, being somebody that was so heavily gut trained and everything starts in the gut. Let's go full blown. After the gut and technical test analysis, the confidence I can, I have on that first call with somebody to be able to say I can get you this result. I guarantee it. If you listen to me, if we, we co partner and we're able to have you go through the whole process, it's, it's the most relieving and fulfilling thing ever. So that's, that's really been something I've been so extremely grateful for. And honestly, every time I do my gratitude. Satch and Deepa, you guys are the first people that come up. Carol, the. So I wouldn't have been able to do it without you. I didn't even think this was a possibility.
Amazing. Amazing. Thank you, Ricky, for sharing and I know you have a, a commitment so I appreciate you sticking around and, and sharing your story with us. Thank you.
Oh, my pleasure.
Give, give Arjun a big kiss from me and say hi to Ruby.
Oh, absolutely. Thank you.
