How to overcome overwhelm in your practice by making this one simple change with Sachin Patel

Sachin Patel suggests replacing "overwhelmed" with "unfocused" in your head. The first word only suggests its opposite, underwhelmed. The second points to something actionable: decide the next specific thing to focus on, not the whole staircase.

Hello, my friends. It's Satya and hope. You're amazing. I hope you like my sweatshirt from Driftwood Paddle in Algonquin. It's my favorite sweatshirt. I've been wearing it for the last couple of days, and it just warms my heart. But that's not why I'm here to share with you. What I'm here to share with you in this video is how you can come overcome overwhelm in literally less than 30 seconds. So I had a call today with one of my clients, and she was feeling overwhelmed. She joined our mentorship, and she joined up for a few other services and quickly became overwhelmed with all the assignments and all the trainings and all the obligations that come with signing up with a variety of different programs. We all know that you've probably gone through that yourself. So one of the things that I had her do was simply change the word overwhelm. Because. Because what she wants is the opposite of overwhelm. And the opposite of overwhelm is actually underwhelm. And then I asked her, that is like, hey, do you want to feel underwhelmed? And she said, no. That doesn't sound very. Instead of using the word overwhelmed, let's use the right word, which is unfocused, because the opposite of unfocused is focused. And so now you actually have a solution instead of something that you don't want more of. Right. So nobody wants to go from overwhelm to underwhelm. However, everybody wants to go from being unfocused to focused, because now you have a sense of direction. So based on that quick shift in her mindset and her internal dialogue and language, we were able to come up very quickly with a plan and a strategy for her to actually focus on. So if this has happened to you, please let me know if you've ever felt overwhelmed and trying to figure out how actually do I want to feel? Because you don't want to feel the opposite of overwhelmed. So then when we attach the right words to what's actually happening, we actually come up with a solution which is literally in the palm of our hands. So go from overwhelmed to unfocused, and then go from unfocused to focused, and then you want to figure out what exactly you need to focus on so that you could be in resonance with what's going to be the greatest tool for your business. It's kind of that old ad, you know, that old proverb that goes, don't focus on the staircase, focus on the next step. Because if you focus on the staircase. It can be overwhelming. However, if you get focused on that next step, then it becomes so much easier to do the work. So anyways, I hope that helps. Lots of love. Got a busy day, lots of clients to coach, and I'm doing a group training today for about 80 practitioners on how to run a group program. So I gotta prepare for that along with a few other things. So hopefully that helps you and gives you some direction and allows you to give yourself permission to get more focused and change the dialogue that you're having. Alright, talk to you soon. Bye for now.
