Sachin Patel argues that the amount of income one earns is directly proportional to the positive impact one has on others. He frames income as a byproduct of impact and recommends focusing on increasing impact (positively helping more people) rather than directly chasing more money.

So write this down. The amount of money that you make, the amount of income that you make is directly proportional to the positive impact that you're going to have on people's lives. So one of the things that you want to do is understand that you should not shy away from making an income, because what you're inadvertently shying away from is making an impact. The bigger the impact you want to make, the more comfortable you have to get with making an income, because they're directly proportional to one another. So the question I always ask myself, if I'm ever in a position that I'm not making as much money as I'd like to, the real question I ask myself isn't, how do I make more money? The question I ask myself is, how do I make more impact? How do I positively impact more people? Because that is directly proportional, and to me, that's the most important thing. Okay? Truth be told, I don't focus on income. It's a byproduct of the impact that I want to make. So if you can agree to that, then you're always going to be in the right frame to create more success for yourself.
