Sachin Patel shares a short personal lesson inspired by the Bhagavad Gita: practice detachment from the fruits (outcomes) of your work and instead commit to doing your best and cultivating character (arete). He addresses entrepreneurs specifically, urging them to focus on effort, growth, and daily discipline rather than getting lost in metrics.

Hey there my friend. I want to share with you a lesson I wish I had learned when I first started out as an entrepreneur and this lesson actually comes from one of my favorite books, the Bhagavad Gita. And that is to be detached from fruit. What does that mean? It means that we should not be attached to the fruits of our labor but instead, if attached to anything, to be attached to the effort that we put in to do our absolute best and to live out our highest calling in every moment. Also known as arete, as my friend Brian Johnson would describe it. So as an entrepreneur, being detached from fruit is one of the hardest things for us because we can get so caught up in the numbers. However, I invite you to get caught up in who you're becoming in the process, the muscles you're building in the process and keep putting your best foot forward every single day, every single possible way that you can.
