This YouTube video (created and uploaded by Sachin Patel on Dec 28, 2023) explains how digestion is initiated and guided by the senses: vision draws attention to food, olfaction (smell) provides cues and associations, and tasting with saliva and taste buds begins chemical breakdown while informing the body whether the item is nutritious. The speaker walks through the visual → olfactory → gustatory sequence and emphasizes the body’s assessment of nutritional value.
