Major platforms are chasing TikTok by pushing short-form video. If you want growth, make what Instagram or YouTube is algorithmically promoting right now, not what you think your audience wants.
TikTok is your main priority if you're one of these big social media companies right now. You're going to think about growth, you're going to think about TikTok. And so you release a competitive product, you got to pump the engagement. How do you do that? If you're a creator, you say, oh, Instagram's priority was pushing stories and then reels, then I'm going to make great reels and stories because that's what they're pushing right now. That's what the algorithm wants. I'm going to get faster growth because I'm sort of like piggybacking off of their priority.
