Kick offered xQc a $100 million two-year deal to stream on Twitch, paying him more than LeBron James makes in a season. The platform is handing out $10 million to $30 million annual contracts to other top streamers, betting massive non-exclusive payouts will reshape the streaming market.
They gave xQc a reported 2-year, $100 million contract. What? So that means that this guy's making more than LeBron James playing for the Lakers this year. And crazier than that is that he doesn't have to stop streaming on Twitch. He could still stream on Twitch, right? And so when you first hear this, this sounds crazy. It's like you signed a non-exclusive $100 million deal for some kid in his bedroom playing video games. That sounds insane. And then they did that with a bunch of other streamers. So a bunch of other streamers are also making $10 million, $20 million, $30 million a year to stream on Kick right now. And the big question is, will this strategy work?
