Sam Parr describes a car ride with MrBeast where the YouTuber admitted he knows nothing about mainstream culture. At 15, MrBeast decided to become the world's most popular YouTuber and stopped paying attention to anything else. He couldn't engage on topics like popular bands, politics, or Harry Potter.
I have an interesting story about him. So we were in a car and I was talking about like a popular band or politics or something. I think we were even talking about a movie like Harry Potter, and I could tell he wasn't registering what we were talking about. He was trying to partake in the conversation and be polite, but I could tell that he didn't— he didn't like know what I was saying. And I said something to him, I go, hey, have you ever heard about this thing? And he goes, no, I really— I just don't know anything about that. And he goes, when I was 15, I made a goal to be the most popular YouTuber in the world, and I pretty much stopped paying attention to everything else. So if whatever you're talking about is not part of like YouTube culture, I don't know What it is.
