A doctor describes a patient who caught a missed lab value using ChatGPT, then argued it better than him. Sam Parr sees an opening: build a medical practice where AI is the main diagnostic tool, since patients already trust it more.
My doctor friend admitted to me the other day— he goes, OpenAI is a better doctor than me. Patients come to me and said, well, Google says this or WebMD says this. And he says over the last 6 months, the only people who have used that reasoning is with OpenAI. And they're right a lot of times.
I got into a fight with a doctor recently about this. What did they say? My mom had to have a surgery. And so this one doctor comes in and she's like, yeah, your levels were fine. And then I'm like, uh-uh! I actually ran the test through ChatGPT and the levels were like high for this. Basically ChatGPT said if it's above this, then you should consider doing this like additional step. It depends on the exact number. So I go, what was the number? I would have to check. You're the doctor. So yeah, you would have to check.
If I was an entrepreneurial doctor, I would 100% start a new practice centered around we are AI first, because I think that a lot of people like you and me, they have a similar sentiment where they're like, oh no, I trust the computer way more than a human being.
