Sam Parr rates his desire to own the Apple Vision Pro at 1/10 but wants to try it at 9/10. He sees it as ambitious and a glimpse of the future, but too heavy and impractical now. He expects lighter, untethered versions to come later.
Have you seen this Apple Vision Pro? What do you think about this?
On one hand, I have the boomer mentality of like, this is sad, this sucks, we're all gonna be in this. But on the other hand, I'm like, it's pretty sick. They push the envelope. It's kind of cool knowing that the current version is gonna be the worst version that ever comes about. And that first version, it seems pretty awesome. Pretty—
1 to 10, how bad do you want one?
I don't want to own one, but 9 outta 10, I want to go to the Apple Store and try one.
I didn't buy one. The bar for me to buy something is pretty low. I'm a pretty impulse-driven person. If I'm just curious, I'll just usually get something. It seems like everybody's takeaway is kind of the same, which is kind of a magical experience. You feel like you got a glimpse of the future, but it's only a glimpse. This isn't the future yet, but 5 years from now, this thing is gonna be incredible because they're gonna solve all these annoying problems. It's gonna become lighter weight. They're gonna get rid of this cord that's a battery that I have to put in my pocket while I'm using it. They're gonna make it so that I can see my phone while I'm using this if I want to.
It's going to be as small as a pair of glasses. Exactly.
