To make good long sprouts, first take 2 big spoons of the seed or grain and wash them. Put them into a bowl and fill it up with water. Fill up the bowl with 1 inch more water than the seeds. Cover it with a lid and let it rest overnight. Next morning, drain out the water and wash the seeds one more time. Then take a simple thin cotton cloth, keep the washed seeds in the middle, and tie the cloth tightly into a little bag like this. Now place this bag in a bowl and cover with a lid. You can leave the bowl on your kitchen counter, but ensure that there's no sunlight that falls on it. That could burn your sprouts. Last step is to wash them. For the 3 days, once every morning and once every evening, you simply have to open up that bag, wash the little seeds, tie it up again, and place it back in the bowl. So keep washing like this twice a day for 3 days, and by the 4th day, you'll see that the sprouts now have lovely long tails. Which means that they're ready to eat and enjoy.
