The speaker stopped asking God for specific outcomes like college admission or promotions, realizing those requests might not align with what's actually best. Instead, they now pray with gratitude for what they have and ask for strength to follow God's path rather than their own.

After beginning my spiritual journey, there's one thing I've stopped doing, and that is asking God to give me what I want. Earlier, when I used to bow down to God, I always used to ask God for something. God, please get me into this college, or God, please help me achieve this milestone in my work. And that's what many of us do. God, I want this, give me that. Please get my daughter married. Please give me promotion at work. What we don't realize is that when we ask God to do what we want, we are imposing our plan on God's plan. And guess what? What we ask for, God may give it to us, but it may not be what's best for us. So what do we do? Well, it is much better to pray to God to do his will rather than for him to do our will. So whenever I pray to God, I first simply thank God for everything he's already given, and then simply ask for strength to overcome any obstacles as I walk on the path that he's designed for me.
