A father's advice to go slow but keep your compass set right. A tiny change in heading at takeoff shifts a plane's destination by thousands of kilometres. Most people rush without a clear direction, wasting effort. Better to move deliberately, even if slower, as long as the work aligns with where you actually want to go.

You know, as a child, my father would always tell me, Subha, go slow. No problem, as long as your compass is set in the right direction. Let me explain. Imagine there's a flight taking off from Mumbai. If it goes straight, where do you think it'll reach? Calcutta, right? But if it takes just a little turn, where will it eventually reach? It will end up in Assam! Well, such a small change is barely noticeable at takeoff, but eventually you end up thousands of kilometers away from the original destination. The same happens to many of us in our lives. We don't give the time it needs to first set the direction of our life firmly. We get tempted to rush into action. So the value I live my life by is that even if I go slow in life, I want my compass to be set right. Even if I work a little less each day, I want to do work that allows me time for reflection, for self-development, for exercise, for yoga, for reading, for spiritual study every day.
