Have you ever thought about this, that the sun literally burns itself to give us energy? The clouds literally sacrifice themselves to create rain. The rain sacrifices itself to become absorbed by the earth so that the earth can bear crops and fruits. And if you look at fruits, they sacrifice themselves to nourish our human body. What do you think is in common in all of these elements of nature? They live in the spirit of giving. Now, how does this matter to our lives? Well, sometimes we live in the mindset of how we can accumulate, take from the world, but we can never get inner fulfillment with that. Only when we sacrifice our benefit, our pleasure, our gain for the service of others, that's when we live a deeply fulfilled life. You could begin by spending at least a few hours of your week not for yourself, but for the benefit of other people, other beings. We can create a world where giving and kindness are the norm.
