Episode 27: Health Industry Game Changer - Podcasting to Share A Message Worldwide
21 May 2024 · 12 min
Episode 27 of the Healthy Profits Podcast (host Ray Ireland, featuring Sammy Taggett) argues that podcasting is a powerful, worldwide platform for health and wellness entrepreneurs to share trusted, authentic messages. Ray encourages clinicians and wellness professionals to leverage podcasting’s relative barrier-to-entry and intimate format to build trust, entertain while educating, and distribute contrarian or under-shared stories. Practical advice includes: record risky/edgy episodes first (even unpublished), seek feedback from an inner circle, be authentic to your natural style, and prioritize integrity when sharing health guidance. The episode closes with promotional CTAs to subscribe, share, and tune in twice weekly.

All right, my health industry game changers. I'm speaking to you guys today in this episode on Healthy Profits Podcast, coming directly at you from Ray Ireland, your host. And we're going to be talking about why podcasting is such an amazing platform to share a message worldwide and how it's going to actually be a health industry disruptor because of you. We need you, we need your world, we need your information, we need your guidance, we need your support. And podcasting is an incredible place to put that. So let's dive into how this use of using podcasts is a game changer specifically for the health industry. And it really comes down to you being a disruptor, right, that you've already, if you were a health and wellness entrepreneur, that means you've been through the system of health and wellness in whatever country you're in, right? I'm in the U.S. so I'll speak to the U.S. you've gone through your schooling, your training, you've gone through the program. I have friends that are doctors and in the health space, it takes a long time, lots of investment of time, energy, resources, and you're dedicated to your craft. I know this. And the thing is, is that if you've become a health or wellness entrepreneur, it's because you've noticed that there are some cracks in the system. Now, I'm not a doctor. I didn't go through that training. So I can only speak on the amount that I know. But what I have seen is that there is some contrarian ways of thinking, thinking outside of the box in terms of how to actually best do health and wellness that you might not be getting from your normal doctors or your pediatricians. And I'll speak to myself again as new mom, as a woman who really wants to prioritize health and wellness for myself, but also within my family and friends. I am dying for information like yours to be in a place where I can listen to it and soak in the information quickly, efficiently, and also be entertained. Because if I'm taking a moment away from my family or my business, I want to be learning, but I also don't want to be feeling like I'm in class or uncomfortable in those terrible old chairs that we used to sit in, those, like, steel iron chairs. And I want to feel entertained. And that's truly the piece that can come together in the podcasting space. So this is where you can be making such a huge difference. And I want to speak a little bit more into how important it is to be able to have a platform where you can truly have a worldwide message spread. So one of the things that I want to share is that times are changing so fast. We know this. We see this all over the news. There's just so much happening in politics and education, in our health systems. And as things shift and change, things can actually happen very fast. We saw this to happen with the lockdown. Information got spread very, very quickly, and mandates were created and all sorts of stuff. And it was almost shocking how fast information got out across the world. Now, of course, there are major industries like the news and sources of information that can blast out a message. But what I want to remind you is that you have the power to, my friend. You have the power to be the message creator. So I say this on ears that I hope are receiving it with a humble and caring heart, because obviously people can take advantage of this. But that is is why we are specifically wanting to help our health and wellness entrepreneurs out there learn how to really take advantage of this incredible tool. Because when push comes to shove, as things progress, as health gets tested, as things happen on our planet in the next very coming years, we see all these shifts happening. We know this is happening. We, as, as a public, are looking to sources that we can trust. We're looking to guidance and to leadership. And we have now seen that we can't totally trust some of the leaders that we thought we could trust. We can't totally trust some of the systems that we thought we could trust previously, some of the news sources. Right. And so the podcasting space is this really interesting space that is slightly different than social media, because social media is also a place where you can share your story and get your message out there and all of that great stuff. But there is a difference. There's a certain level of complexity when it comes to producing a podcast that actually filters out most people. So you're not going to be getting everyone's story and everyone's message in the podcasting space. In fact, we even did a whole episode. I believe it was actually just, let's see, two episodes. So episode 24. Is podcasting too popular now? Go check that out because it'll actually give you the stats on how this is. Podcasting is still truly a wide market. It's a blue ocean that has a lot of space, especially for health and wellness. But I can also guarantee that there are many listeners waiting to find their person, to get advice from their person that they trust and feel comfortable and feel content and safe with. And so what is your job in this? What is your job in terms of utilizing this game changing platform that you have to share a worldwide message. It is that you make yourself trusting, integrorus and also entertaining and exciting and fun and you bring your joy and your light through your podcast. Now, I want to remind you, you don't have to be anyone else. So when I give those descriptive words, maybe that doesn't fit and you feel a little bit more scientific and like soft spoken, that's fine too. Be your boldest self in who you are because you're going to find and attract those listeners that actually are going to fit and work perfectly with what you have to share. Make sure that you don't let imposter syndrome come in and take over. Make sure that you don't get it in your head that you have to be a certain way. Like another ranking health and wellness show that you enjoy. This is actually a place where you get to tap into your creativity, your storytelling and bring your brilliance. So for some of you that are more in the Dr. Space, you get to really, actually play with both hemispheres of your brain and find this holistic approach in what you're going to be sharing. And it may actually be very similar to how you feel when you're working with a client. Because I see tons of doctors and people that are in health and wellness. Maybe if they get on stage, they're going to start fumbling, but if they're talking one on one to someone, it's. It's easy, it's fluid, it's very relatable. You're used to talking to many people. And this is another reason why podcasting is so cool. Because if you're comfortable with that space and maybe a big stage or speaking in front of thousands of people at a, in an amphitheater, maybe that doesn't feel great to you. This space of podcasting could actually be your perfect home to reach that worldwide audience where it can just be you and your computer or your camera and just imagining your one client on the other side of that screen or on the other side of that lens. And just through that one interaction, if you can make it feel as comfortable as you feel when you're talking to a client that you love or even a loved one and giving them health and wellness advice, imagine how that person is going to feel on the other side. Imagine how much they're going to want to share your message. And as your rankings go up, as your downloads go up, imagine how many people are going to feel that close and trusting and safe in your presence, even if it's not live and one on one, they feel with you. So this is a baton of responsibility that I pass over to you. It takes a lot of awareness because you do have and hold a lot of power as a health and wellness entrepreneur who is venturing into this podcast space. Make sure that what you're saying, of course, is in integrity and alignment. I actually don't even feel like I need to say that health and wellness people, you guys are so integrous, it's incredible. And so what I want to inspire you to do today is that I want to see if you can find your edges with this. And so because it is such a powerful game changer, because you are contrarian and how you want to think and deliver your message and share and help the world, I want you to see if you can lean into some of those different ways of thinking. And so there might be a topic or story that you feel like, oh, this was such a powerful moment in my life or in a client's life, but I feel nervous to share. I feel scared to share it. If you have anything like that, that actually is a goldmine for podcasting because those are usually the best episodes. So what I'm going to challenge you to do today is to actually record that episode. Record that episode that you've been nervous to share on and you don't need to even publish it, just record it. If after you record it, you're like, okay, that was pretty good, I then double encourage you to take that episode to your friends, your family, your supporters, or maybe even some of your clients and ask them, hey, what do you think about this? Sometimes we just need that inner circle feedback loop to see, like, did I go too far on the edge? Does it make sense? Does it feel uncomfortable? Or did you love it? Did you get drawn in? Do you want to listen to more episodes like this? So talk to your OG people, your inner tribe, your core supporters, and see what they think about such a risky episode for yourself. You may, like I said, get some feedback where you can shift and change it, or you might get feedback of green lights. Go ahead, publish it and put it out there. And then you get to also see how your whole listener and audience feels receiving that kind of story that might feel a little bit more edgy or on the cliffs. So that is my share for you guys today. I just, I hope you really hear me. When you feel the weight of what an incredible tool you have as a podcaster, as a health and wellness professional and entrepreneur, you can literally be changing so many lives through just these simple episodes that you create. Just you speaking, sharing your knowledge, sharing your stories. So please do that. Do not hold back. The world is wanting you to come alive in this space.
