Episode 29: Teach Implementation Don't Just Give Information
28 May 2024 · 10 min
Sammy Taggett argues creators drown in information but skip implementation. She offers three frameworks for podcasters: Do It For You (full service), Do It With You (coaching), and Do It Yourself (DIY). Each model converts listeners differently and builds business results.

Hey, welcome back to the Healthy Profits Podcast. Today we are going to cover something so important to keeping people in your podcast. And it's a problem that really hit so many, not just podcasters, but people selling information over the last five to 10 years. And what's happening is we're seeing a huge problem with people over inundated with information and not getting enough implementation taught to them. And what does that mean? So I always think about this time. I was playing one of the biggest shows I had of the year, and one of my controllers as a dj, if you don't know me, I play music for some of the biggest wealth and health entrepreneurs on the planet. And they flew me out to Jordan to play this gig. And I hooked my computer up to the CDJs, which are what I play and DJ through. And what happened is it wasn't reading. Like, I couldn't get my computer to read inside one of the CDJs. Everything else was working except one of them. And one of the tech guys came to me and he said, hey, I think you need to do xyz. Which basically meant reprogram, upload this new driver, do all these things. And he told me everything I needed to do, but he didn't tell me, and he didn't do it for me. He didn't ask if he could help me do it. Oh, and he just left me to do it on my own. But he had all the information. He just didn't give me the implementation. And that was crushing because in the end, I actually had to play on a smaller piece of machinery that I didn't want to play on. Or think about this. If you've ever had a flat tire, somebody could pull up next to you and say, hey, here's what you need to do to fix the tire. You need to take the bolts off, you need to get the. You need to get the jack out of the back and hike your car up and then change out, out the tire. And that would be great, of course, you know that, but people don't want that anymore. What people need more than ever right now is implementation. And what we're going to give you today is the framework that we have used at Evolve Podcasting to help you guys as our clients. And what you can now do from your show to help your listeners, which is giving you a few different frameworks. And it was really painful. We watched a lot of our shows that had so much, just great information, but they were not having people stick with their show. Because right now, as of 2022 and a lot of this I'm finding fear from some of my favorite mentors. This was actually taught to me by Pat Flynn. What is crazy is that people are over inundated with information and that just means that they are filled to the brim with things and they don't know how to take action and do those things. And that's where this framework, which we always use, is going to help you guys to teach better and to get more retention on your shows. Because what will happen when you use these three different frameworks is that you're going to be able to really have people take action and see actionable results by the end of the show of your show, just like what I'm doing now. So one of the things is we want to help you guys understand that there's three different frameworks that you can implement and teach people one of them. And this is what we do with our high end clients. This is called the do it for you framework. So we will do all of the lifting, we will do all of, we will help you find the guests, record, produce, take all the show notes, do all the social media, create everything you need from a show, right? That's the do it for you method. And you can teach that inside of your podcast, right? You can do it for them, you can walk them through every step of the way. And then at the end, let's say in your podcast, you could say, now if you want to do this with us, just give us a call and we will do all of it for you. You'll give them the information, but you'll do everything for you. The second framework, which works really well, we have a mastermind for this which is called the do it with you and do it with you is just what it says, right? We are going to walk hand in hand with you while you and your team create the episodes or create alongside of us and then we'll guide you through that, through that process. And so what's really cool about doing it for you or doing it with you is that it gives you a little bit more freedom and it helps you and your team keeps get really good at figuring stuff out together. Because sometimes when you do it, when we have the do it for you done for you, we found some teams get lost in the shuffle. They're just like, here what? I don't even know what you guys did. That's amazing. But if you want some all encompassing vision of what you guys can do together, or let's say you're building the show and you're like oh, you know what, I love that. I love the idea you guys came up with. But we actually know our audience better. So we ended up making a show that is a little bit more specific to this audience. That's the power of doing it with you because you have that ability to move and shape whatever you're doing. So that's the difference between do it with you and then the last one is do it yourself. The DIY course. Now, there's nothing wrong with diy, but if you are going to DIY and teach the implementation of diy, you want to make sure that you are very explicit and up front with with your audience in that episode saying, today I'm going to teach you a done or a DIY style of xyz. An example of that for us would be like, hey, in today's show I'm going to teach you. This is a do it yourself way to make your studio better, right? And all you need to do is go in and find another light source, put it behind you and get a different piece of sound foam, put it in front of your camera and make everything. So I would walk you through it if you can see what I'm doing, right? So basically I would walk you through and you would do it for yourself. Nothing wrong with that. But if you are going to be explicitly telling people how to do things and it is going to be just information based, just let them know up front because people really are getting over inundated with information. And what we really want to teach is implementation. And that is going to set your show apart by leagues if you can help people understand how to implement what you're teaching them. And I've been working on this so hard with so many of my clients and I've watched when I made this pivot from here's all the information, here's all the things that we do. But what they really needed, what we always find out is they don't need any more information, they just need to know, are you going to do it with me or are you going to do it for me? Or is this just something that I need to do on my own? And if it is, what are the three steps I need to take? So those are the three frameworks that we use. I want to just give you a little bit of a high end tip. If you are going to be doing it as the do it for you the top tier, like the do it for you implementation, make sure that you have some amazing unique selling properties or unique selling perspective that you do or a unique way that you guys help people in your do it for you method. For example, with the Evolve Podcasting, we have the unique opportunity to help health and wellness entrepreneurs really explode their shows. Because we've been working with health and wellness for the last four years. That's our unique angle. We actually know this and we know this inside and out and we understand what makes a proper health and wellness show. We also have combined over 70 years of marketing and selling experience between my whole staff. So everyone knows what it takes to make a show profitable and what it takes to make a show successful. So those are our unique angles. It's not just information that we're pulling from the ether and telling you all this stuff. What we are doing is explaining what we're doing, what it will mean to or what it will what you need to implement success with us and what we are going to do if we do it for you. So that's one of the things that I just want to make sure you understand. If it is going to be the implementation framework of do it for you, make sure you have that unique angle that is specific to you and your branding. And then for us, I just want to make this easy for you guys. If you guys are interested in figuring out what is my unique angle, how do I use these frameworks with my podcast? All you have to do today is actually check the show notes and book yourself a free podcast audit and we will come in there and give you some implementable actions that you can do with your show today. So that's what we love to do. It's a free podcast audit. You can sign up and we'll go in, we'll look at the ecosystem of your podcast podcast and let you know what you can do to actually teach implementable things inside your podcast. So I hope that helps you. I know I've been really excited to take this to the next level and teach people more implementation and more ways to really transform their podcasts and make them profitable by using just these three frameworks. I hope that you found this information useful and make sure that you sign up for that free, free audit and we'll see you in the next show. Now that was a great episode.
