Short motivational advice for roofing sales representatives focusing on three practices that determine sales success: (1) mindset—adaptability and connecting with each homeowner, (2) self-awareness—respecting the value of money and accepting upsides and downsides, and (3) continual learning—reviewing each appointment to apply lessons to future meetings.

Three things that you can do as a sales rep that will make or break the sale. First one is going to be mindset. Every single homeowner is different and there's a difference between understanding that concept and embracing that concept. You need to be a chameleon in the house each and every time. You need to connect with these individuals. If it's a 70 year old woman, you guys need to be their grandson. Like you have to get them to fall in love with you. The second thing that I want to touch on is being self aware and what I mean by that is understanding the value of money and understanding how hard it is to make money. If you're going to embrace the good and the good, then you need to accept the bad. The last point I have is something that I personally love to do that is thinking about every single appointment and what you could have done with the knowledge you now have. There are constantly things to think about from a two to three hour long appointment and every single thing that you learn from the previous appointment, you can apply to the next appointment to better your chances.
