5 Key Steps to Build a Successful Roofing Business in 5 Minutes

Adam Sand shares five steps to scale a roofing business to $5M: nail your service-market fit, track KPIs like a 30% close rate and 30-40% gross profit, move leads to solutions in five minutes, hire site supervisors to deliver on promises, and commit to one CRM instead of constantly switching tools.
We got Adam sand on 5 and 5 and Adam with roofing business partner. Smart guy. Man, this guy has a lot they can teach us. So he's going to give us five business tips that we can take to the bank and go use Adam. Let's roll them off. Number one.
All right, first I think you need to have a clear understanding of who you are as a business. So it's service market fit. If you're under 5 million, you got to know who you are, who you aren't, who you sell to, who you don't, what you sell, what you sell it for. You got to have service market fit. The that's what's going to get you to 5 million because you can duplicate enough things. The second thing I would say is that you got to know your high and mid level KPIs. And just as a general rule, this isn't hard and fast, but you want a $300 lead that closes at 30% that you can get a 30, 40% gross profit on and you get that money back in 30 days or less that there. If you do that, you'll kind of always have money and you always have a business flowing. So that's like, that's number two. Number three, in 2025, the, the only thing that really matters is customer experience. And people have to move meaningfully towards solving their problem within five minutes of sending you a lead. You have to build systems to do that. And I think that the way that you the, the best way I've found for our customers is inside, outside sales. The fourth thing is I would say get site supervisors. You are trying to grow your business. You can't. You have to get more customers, make them worth more and de risk the business. The number one risk in your business is that what you promise to happen doesn't happen. Site supervisors work. If you don't know how to pay for them, make they got $150 bonus for door knocking and getting site supervisor leads and make sure you pay them to do that. And for the last tip, I would say that you want to get your, you want to get your systems right. And the thing that goes wrong with that is people go into the CRM doom loop. I have this whole video about it, but essentially they get a System, they spend six months implementing it, they get 18 months of decreasing usage and then they go back on Facebook and say what's the best CRM? And get a new one. Don't do that. Get on a system and incrementally improve it. If it doesn't work for you. It's probably not the system's fault. It's probably your fault. Take accountability and make the system better with intention. Doesn't matter what the system is. The tool doesn't matter as much as the process. And the process doesn't matter as much as adoption. That would be my five.
I love it. Adam sand, how do we get a hold of you? If our listeners want more, just go.
