How Roofers Can Build Custom AI Tools in 45 Seconds (No Coding Needed!)

Adam Sand shows Michael how to build a roofing cost calculator app in under a minute using bolt.new and ChatGPT, no coding required. The tool pulls pricing from HubSpot and can shorten sales cycles and boost close rates. Sand wants roofers to know these tools exist so they can ask smarter questions.

Something that might be interesting to try, Michael, is open up a new browser window. Okay, Go to Bolt New.
Whoa, that looks so much prettier. Whoa, that's cool.
And now in 45 seconds, you just made an app, and now you could continue to chat with it to make it better. I want to build a community of roofers who understands that this stuff exists and knows that they can start asking these questions.
So I just found, like, within our sales process, we're struggling to be able to get clear and concise answers for what, like monthly reoccurring costs for. For different users for our endpoint solutions, Sumoquote or Ivy. Just call companycam. Then also for seat assignment, specifically for inside sales, outside sales. Who needs what role for what. So we want to be able to give clear ballpark pricing. But essentially I just said, hey, I want a calculator built. And I didn't really know what I was going to expect. And then it spit this thing out at me. And this means absolutely, like, Mandarin in my head. And then I prompted it to go, can you just, like, make a preview for me? So I was able to make this preview. I wanted to make another one so I could go in and calculate the cost of who would need specific endpoint solutions. Go into that. So you could have, like, the cost breakdown and it would all total up. I thought that was kind of cool. But, Adam, how can I have, like. Cause I have these two. Can I save this somewhere within ChatGPT to, like, it doesn't get buried in here.
What he's saying is that he has a cost calculator. He's got the back end. So what this. What he's asking, he's like, he said, okay, basically ChatGPT made a back end, right? The code that runs the back end of his cost calculator software. But what he doesn't really have is the front end of the calculator software. Front end is like the part that would make an app that loads the. The back end. Again, I'm not a developer, but that's essentially what he's asking, is he wants to save it so he doesn't have to keep reusing this cost calculator. So something that might be interesting to try, Michael, is open up a new browser window. Okay. Go to bolt.new. okay, so I'm going to give you the prompt that you can type in there. Okay. Okay. So paste what I just sent you in the chat and then paste your code in and see what happens. Actually, don't do that. Click sign up first. Now Paste that in and then paste your code in after that. So you hit that copy button, the top right. There you go. Okay, now see what happens.
Whoa, that looks so much prettier. Whoa, that's cool.
So now what you could ultimately do is hit deploy. So now copy that URL. That's the top one. Okay. Yeah, that one there. Copy that, paste into a new browser tab.
No sh.
And now in 45 seconds, you just made an app and now you could continue to chat with it to make it better.
What I was trying to do, I got a little hung up and I don't want to mess with where I've been, but I wanted this and this calculator, you know, like the same screen. But when I did it, it got a little confused. Confused, and then it ended up like breaking and bugging the thing up.
Here's an example. Go back to bolt. Say, can you make this. So it connects the HubSpot API to pull in the information automatically from a company record in HubSpot. I want it to pull three properties, put a period. I'm going to type the rest for you in the chat, add that to your prompt. Let's see what happens. We're in a place now today where you could conceptualize what you want and then you could hand it to a developer and say, this is kind of what I want, but I don't know how to make it do this and that and the other thing and make it mobile friendly. And I want to put it on the Apple App Store. There's still a lot that needs to be done after this user interface, understanding, rate limits, multi tenancy, multi users, stuff like that. Okay, so it says to use this, you'll need to replace your HubSpot API key here in the env file. So you just built it. So now all you'd have to do is put the HubSpot API key in, which is just a big long block of text that nobody human can read. It's just a long code that makes it secure. And then you could instantly pull over.
Stuff that's wild for anyone else in the room. That's not like a coder or super computer genius. I'm just like so impressed. Came up with this little idea, played around with some prompts, did a little bit of research, did this thing, showed me a whole bunch of code and then wrote, I have no idea what this means. Can I, like, review this so I can see what it looks like? And then it told me how to do it. Clicked on preview. I called Gary, one of the super nerds. I was like, hey, Gary, I've got this thing. And he goes, holy crap, How'd you do that? It looks great. I'm like, did I just impress a super computer nerd? And then was able to take it to him to, like, refine and edit? But by no means. It's powerful as hell. Never in a million years would I've been able to do this. Yeah, it definitely opens up the door for opportunities for more and more.
I'm not saying that you need to start going and doing this stuff. What I'm saying is that I want to build a community of roofers who understands that this stuff exists and knows that they can start. Start asking these questions. Because Michael asked a question, and in two minutes, he now has a web page that he can use to service our customers and their questions. And he made that app in 45 seconds.
And again, like, the impact of this is going to shorten our sales cycle and back and forth emails that are going to get lost. It's going to increase our closing rate. It allows you to bring thoughts into.
Reality, which is core value number one at rbp.
