Adam Sand explains why data migration is the biggest challenge in CRM implementations, emphasizing that existing CRM data is often messy and incomplete. He outlines a recommended sequence: clean current data, perform data mapping, execute an initial data migration, provide training and onsite implementation, run a delta migration to capture recent changes, and then go live with the new system.

Data migration. This is the biggest challenge when it comes to CRM implementations because most of the data inside your CRM right now sucks and you don't have very clean files. They aren't tight, the notes aren't up to date. So one of the first things we do is we actually tell you to go through and clean up your files as best they can. Then what we're going to do is we're going to do what's called data mapping, where we're going to say this piece of information needs to go here. Then we would do what's called a data migration, which is where we migrate a whole bunch of your old data and say, hey, based on how we built the system and how we decided to structure the data, and once we know that's right, then we do a whole bunch of training and a who whole bunch of on site implementation, get everybody comfortable with the system. And then we do what's called a delta migration, which we migrate the delta from where you started to where we are now and then go live with all your data in the system. We stop using the other system. But it all starts with how clean is your data in your system right now? Save this video and execute on it later.
