Adam Sand recounts selling a business via owner financing which failed and left him frustrated with managing people and operations. From that experience he conceived of building an app to solve everyday operational annoyances—specifically an appointment-booking app to prevent staff from abandoning in-person sales to answer phone scheduling requests.
When I when I sold that business and that didn't work out, the sale was an owner finance. It was a total shit show. I was like, I don't want to deal with people anymore. I just want to like, make an app. And this is when the tagline there's an app for that came out with Apple, I thought there has to be an app or there should be an app to book a Tank Song appointment. Because it used to annoy me that I would have a girl selling $140 bottle of lotion. Phone would ring and she'd have to choose between answering the phone and giving good service or selling the bottle of lotion. She bailed on the $140 bottle of lotion to go answer the phone.
