A pastor tells parents to reflect the fruit of the Spirit with their children, warning that contempt and harshness displease God. Children mirror what they see, so disrespect is often learned from the parent. He calls listeners to repent and treat their kids with honor and love.
Chapters
It's not pleasing to the Lord when you treat everybody else and other people's kids with the fruit of the Spirit, but with your own, you're mean, you're nasty, you're cold-hearted, you standoffish, you reject them, you talk about them to other people. They overhear you on the phone running your mouth about them and badmouthing them to other people on the phone, telling all their business. This doesn't please the Lord. You are called as a parent to disciple your children. They are to learn the ways of God at home first. So that when they go out here in the world, they, they can be successful and thrive among other human beings. And so it doesn't please the Lord when you don't treat them with honor and respect, and then you're ready to throw a fit, yell, do all the things that you do when they reflect that same behavior back to you. But they learned it from somewhere, and chances are they learned it from you. We really need to repent of this today, get it right by the grace of God, and do better.
