Speaker coach Liron explains why networking alone won't grow a speaking business. Instead, map your target decision-makers (agents, HR leaders, bookers), then build a systematic 20-30-90 day outreach plan. Most contacts already exist in your network; the shift is from random networking to strategic relationship-building.
If a speaker listening today wants to become known as a super connector in the next 12 months, what are the first 3 moves that they should make? So if you don't mind, I'll give you the 6 because my method is— Oh no, let's do, more is always welcome.
First of all, it's about understanding what is your goals. Then as I call it, the people plan. So who are the people that are decision makers? So maybe it could be agents or HR in companies and corporate that they are making the decision that, hey Sarah, I wanna have you now. And also there are the other, like kind of the second or third circle called people around them, like someone who works in a company that has access to the HR or another speaker that maybe can recommend me on their agent. So create this 20, 30, 90 list of relevant people. And usually what's interesting about it is that many times we already know them or they're within our networks.
If you're already a speaker, you know that relationships matter. You probably got gigs from referrals, or your biggest opportunities came from people introducing you to the right room. But many speakers still approach networking in a way that's not optimum for us. So, in this episode, Liron is going to share how we move beyond that transactional networking to become what she calls a super connector, building trust, opportunity, and influence wherever you go.
