AR Cloud Arrives with Virtual Rabbits

Robert Scoble demos Babble Rabbit, an AR app that maps your front lawn with a single iPhone camera and places interactive virtual rabbits in the scene. The app uses 6D AI to create real-time 3D maps and shows how AR glasses might work, though current mapping is still partial and occlusion isn't perfect.

6D AI's single-camera 3D mapping (uses a polygonal mat to represent the surface).
I'm Robert Scoble and this is a fun Monday. The kids are off school because of Easter, although they don't say that's the reason anymore. But I just got a really interesting app called Babble Rabbit. Now, it's not the app that's interesting, it's just some virtual rabbits on my front lawn. But this is the first app that uses new technology from 6D AI called the AR. And what this app is doing right now by having me chase these balls is it's mapping my lawn, my front lawn here. And it's putting a mat of polygons down. And look at this, Ryan. There's now a rabbit that just jumped out of my lawn. I don't know if they can see it. Well, try to get on the screen there. Alright. They can probably sit, jump. And now with this app we can tell the rabbit to jump. Right. Run around and I'll just like, just stay on the. On screen. Trying to. I'll try to stay. Stay on the screen. Yeah, there we go. So the rabbit's sort of cute. You know, it gets a smile out of people when you show the rabbit around. But what's really significant here is that 6D AI has figured out how to use a single camera on or an iPhone to do the 3D mapping of my front lawn to make it possible. Stay over here to make it possible to put a virtual rabbit on my front lawn. Right. Let's feed the rabbit. By the way, he's been talking about this a lot. Yeah, he's eating the rabbit right now. So far we haven't mapped my entire front lawn, just this space right in front of me. And the rabbit isn't all that smart yet. It can't be properly occluded by that tree. So it can't properly run around the tree or stuff like that. But you can see where this is going and it actually stays pretty solid. The nice thing about Pass through AR and we're having this argument about whether we're going to get glasses that do pass through ar. Pass through AR means that the camera and stay on the camera, Ryan. The camera here is collecting the data from the real world, passing through the real world. So we see the grass and the tree and then putting a virtual rabbit into it and then locking the two together like this. Now think about wearing a pair of glasses. This is actually pretty interesting because a pair of glasses could show you the real world. Show you a virtual thing like a rabbit on the real world and let us have some fun. Right. So anyways, this is Babble Rabbit. This is an app coming out April 19th and we just got the first look at it. It's a pretty interesting new app using new technology. You need an iPhone or an iPad to do it, and it's indicative of where this stuff is going to be going. 6D AI is going to be used in lots of apps coming soon. I know of some I can't say, but there's some big ones coming that use this technology in different contexts. So 60 AI is one of those companies to watch. Thanks.
