MarkCarras.com Interviews Robert Scoble

Robert Scoble and others explain why hardware makers switched from full-size SD cards to microSD. Smaller devices and cost savings drove the change, though they note little functional difference. As video and photos move to cloud storage, physical memory cards matter less anyway.
There we go. All right.
I'm here with Robert Scoville Scovalizer himself. I am asking everybody at Nomidex 2008 one question.
Okay.
The hardware manufacturers are trying to move everybody to micro SD as opposed to full sd.
Yeah. And I'm trying to ask if anybody.
Can come up with a logical reason.
Is there any added functionality? Can you think of any benefits as.
To why they're doing this other than.
I mean, is it too small? Is there any added benefit to that? Smaller?
Yeah, eventually, you know, your devices are going to get smaller and smaller. Now they're preparing for that, I guess.
I think it might be cheaper too. Smaller is cheaper, but I mean, do.
You think it adds any functionality?
Do you think it adds any. I mean, other than smaller?
No. What would you prefer to have on your device? Something that you can easily navigate, like this or micro.
Do you have any problems with navigating?
I never even changed mine. I have four gigs in my phone.
In one phone. I have 15 gigs in another.
So why do I need to change cards?
And everything is stored up on the server. All my video is stored up on servers.
I've never even pulled up the cards.
Cool.
All right.
Cards are passe, I gotta say. See, I would love it if they would give enough of it to where store a lot.
But it doesn't bother me. I have hundreds of hours of video.
That I've done with my cell phone.
So it goes from my phone out.
To the cloud and I don't really want to store it on my phone. I don't want to store in. Cool co. All right, well, thank you very much. You have flicker photos. Same thing.
I have a 5 megapixel camera in my, in one of my kids.
They don't get stored on its own.
They go straight up to the plan.
I just see now leave it to.
Robert Scoville to find a way around all their so called innovation. So thank you very much. Scobalizer.com right?
Yes. Okay.
FastCompany TV.
Cool.
All right, thank you very much, Sam.
