Hey, you guys, it's Scott. I hope you're having an amazing day. And I just wanted to reach out and. And today we're celebrating the International Women's Day. And I. This is. This is like, a super important day for me because I have two young daughters, Lily and Lexi. They're 11 and 12 years old. And. And so for them, you know, I want to celebrate all the women that have been amazing examples for them and have, you know, who really stood out. And I think this is, like, super important to me.
A few years ago, my daughter, Lexi. So my daughter Lexi, she's always been about music. Like, ever since she came out of the womb, this girl has had rhythm. She can dance, and she loved music. And I remember when she was really young, she got into. She saw dj and she. She wanted to be a dj. Like, that was her thing for years. And so when she was in the first. The second grade, we bought her a little DJ turntable and we actually sent her to get DJ lessons.
And another way that we bonded, Lexi and I wasn't just around the DJ stuff, but we go onto itunes, and back then, it was like the only game in town. And we go back into itunes and we would watch all of the. We'd watch all of the, like, the cool.
The cool, the cool, the cool videos and stuff like that. And. And then we go onto YouTube and we watch these amazing DJs. And she always wanted to find the women DJs, and she'd follow them, and we follow them. And then one day, it was kind of crazy. Then one day I came up to Lexi, and I think it was a Saturday or Sunday, and I said, lex, I said I would, let's go on itunes and let's do the DJ thing tonight. And she's in, like, the third or the fourth grade now, and she says, dad, I've decided not to be a dj. And I said, why? I said, what? What happened? And she said, because all of the big DJs I see are men. They're boys. So I guess that means that as a girl, I can't be one of the top DJs. And so I've decided to quit. And the whole conversation completely threw me. And I was so bummed out. And so what I did is there was this one musician that she just loved, this one dj, this woman. And I tried to get ahold of her through social media. She never responded. So I put it out into social media. And what was really awesome was in about 24, 48 hours, the post, like, went Viral. And we must have had 50 of the most fantastic women DJs that reached out and said, let me talk to your daughter. Let me. Let me teach her. Like, let's do this together. And I just. I love that sense of, like, everybody stepping in to help, and I love that sense of making such, like, just such incredible examples. And so I just want to thank. You know, I'm surrounded by a ton of strong women. I grew up, you know, my mom is a really strong woman, my sister, you know, my kids today. And I just want to thank all of you for being such great examples. And, I mean, if there was ever a time, you know, to carve out a place, it's. It's now and in this world and. And lose. It's great to see you. Yes. We're celebrating this important day, Michael. So great to see you. And, yes, we're live again. And, gosh, what else is there? I don't know. I just. Again, today, I'm just celebrating people around me and.
Trying to think of a story. You know, I meet with. I interview so many incredible people.
And I'm trying to think of my favorite story about a woman entrepreneur and some of the cool stuff that she did. And I guess the one that always comes to my mind is Sarah Blakely, who started Spanx. You know, Sarah, I mean, she was a girl that was just filled with hustle. And I think my favorite story that I've ever heard Sarah tell was when she was nominated. She was nominated to be the product of the year. Spanx. The product of the year by Oprah Winfrey and O Magazine. However, they did it back then, and as part of the process of being considered a finalist, one of the things that she had to do is she. They wanted to interview her and her team at the office. The problem was this is a young company. They didn't have a big team. They didn't have an office. So the way she told the story is, I believe she called her friends and she's like, you guys got to come over, and you have got. You guys have got to come over, and you got to pretend to be my team. And so just come to my house. We're going to do it on the kitchen floor. We'll make up some excuse. We're just going to hustle. And that's what they did. They had the meeting with the. With the Oprah team. If I remember, this is the way she told it on her floor at her home with her friends, kind of posing to be employees of the company and. And you know, and the rest is history. She's, Sarah is the youngest self made willy woman billionaire in, in America and so just super cool. So again today we are celebrating, celebrating women and International Women's Day. And by the way, we had just, we just kicked off.
Last Friday. We opened up to everybody. We've been in closed Beta, our entrepreneur academy called the whitenow Academy. Tomorrow we're going to be doing office hours, so you guys are going to start to see me again just about every day coming live to you across all social media. And for tomorrow's office hours, we start at 11 o' clock in the morning. Come with any question that you have. Our members of the academy, they'll be coming in through Zoom and they'll be able to ask questions, but you can listen in through social media and.
You know, write down your questions and things like that and I'm happy to answer them. I'll be there for an hour every Tuesday at 11:00 clock Pacific time. But again, today is all about women and the strong and amazing women around us celebrating International Women's Day. And I want to thank you guys for being such great examples, especially to my daughters, Lily and Lexi. I hope you all have a great day, an amazing week. Thanks for your example and I'll see you tomorrow, 11aM The Whitenow Academy and our Whitenow Academy Facebook group. We'll see you there.
