Hi, my name is Scott Duffy, and I'm here live at the Rose bowl in beautiful Pasadena, California to kick off the Rose bowl speaker series and also to honor the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation. Tell me a little bit about why we're here today.
Well, we're doing a speaker series to raise money for the Rose bowl to talk about leadership through legacy. And so I'll be doing a short little TED talk about leadership through legacy and building a legacy and the importance of that, as well as an extraordinary panel with Mark Watts, who was the talent producer of NFL Network, with, of course, Warren Moon, Sean Merriman, Roger Abramson, and of course, the king of New York during the World Series, Jim Laris. The process is understanding your values, and there's four core values that there are. One, your personal values, Two, your experiential values, Three, your giving values, and four, your receiving values. And the key to a legacy is, you know, in the end, the only thing that you'll have left is what people remember you for, the impact that you had or empowerment that you gave them in their life. And that's what we should strive for, to enjoy the pursuit of that potential of being a legacy.
Well, good afternoon to everybody, and welcome to the Rose Bowl Stadium Speaker Series.
The Rose Bowl Legacy foundation has a mission of preserving, protecting, enhancing the future of this venue. They asked me what I wanted to talk about, and I said leadership through legacy. When I look at legacy, I think to myself, who has the most impact in my life?
Important to me to be a good friend to my friends and my family. I get great joy out of giving somebody some coaching, mentoring, seeing them excel and succeed.
I had a great career playing football, something I love to do. But now you can go be great in something else.
No matter how much success, no matter how good you are, no matter what you do, if you can't give back and you can't try to change lives, you're there for the wrong reasons.
My legacy is still being developed because I'm still here. Even though football is not a part of my life as far as playing it anymore, it was a stepping stone for helping me get to where I am right now. Wonderful, wonderful comments.
Roger Abramson, Warren Moon, Sean Marin, Jim Laritz. Very enlightening, very poignant, and dovetails nicely.
With what Dave said.
Ladies and gentlemen, give it up once again. That's leadership through legacy.
All right, we have one surprise for you.
This door.
We will see you on the Rose bowl field.
You've already been given the gift by that legacy. You are already a leader. It sits within you. Just follow that dream. Be your own hero. I appreciate everyone's time. Be a leader through legacy.
