Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, everybody. Welcome to this episode of the noclosure Show. As always, Scott Carson, Excited to be here today and we are just jacked up. Just absolutely really excited to have Hailey Gantt, always lovely. Hayley Gantt joining us from Quest Trust Company out there. And Hayley is, if you don't know her, I'll have her introduce herself in a second. But she is a rock star at Quest Trust Co. Who does an amazing job at the Dallas office and kind of the whip behind the Quest Expo going on. But good morning, Hayley. Thanks for joining us here on the Nook Show.
Hello. Yes, I'm super happy to be here. Yeah, we're gearing up for the Quest Expo. We're just a few weeks away, so it's pretty much all our lives are revolving around right now. We're super excited for it. Can't believe it's finally almost here.
Yeah, exactly. For those of that don't know who you are, obviously Quest Trust is a sponsor of the show and we're huge fans of the company as well. But why don't you, for those that are listening across the country in Note Nation and across our 17 different AMFM radio stations too, from Tampa to Long beach, talk a little about Quest Trust Company and kind of your background and we'll dive into that.
Yeah. So a little bit about us just to get started. My name is Haley, of course, and I am one of our IRA specialists with Quest Trust Co. So basically my role is to teach investors or Americans, pretty much anyone out there, how to use their IRA or old 401k to invest into real estate and private assets such as real estate, notes, apartments, a lot of different options instead of having all of your retirement money invested into the stock market or publicly traded assets. At Quest, we are a self directed IRA custodian. So we hold the same types of retirement accounts that you find at any other custodian or brokerage throughout the U.S. but the biggest difference is the types of assets that we hold. So real estate, promissory notes, private entity investments, you name it. If it's not publicly traded, you can probably hold it at Quest. So it's truly self Directed, you get to go out, find your own investments that you invest in with your ira and we basically teach you how to do it. We don't tell you how to structure your investment, but we give a ton of education. We have classes online, we're always doing webinars. That way we can help teach as many Americans out there that they actually have this other option for their retirement funds outside of what most of their money is probably currently invested in.
Yeah, you guys just do a tremendous job. You're the number one self directed IRA company trustee out there because of so much education you provide to your clients. Now you've got offices there in Dallas. We're located at right?
Yes, yes.
And Austin as well. And then you're constantly doing, I think, was it Nathan or Quincy told me you guys are have somebody or at some sort of like 600 events a year, Is that correct?
That is correct, yeah. So anywhere from our free weekly classes that we host every week, you guys can't see it, but on the other side of this backdrop, I'm actually sitting in front of our big 3200 square foot classroom here in Dallas. It's a great atmosphere. We host free classes every week in Dallas, Austin and Houston. We host a monthly mixer. We attend several events throughout the country and all of that totals to around 600 events a year, so we definitely stay busy. I think this week alone, I'm attending three different events in Dallas. So yeah, it's a lot of fun.
A lot of fun. And last year you guys had your first expo, your Quest Expo there in Dallas. And then this year you got it back home in the home county of Harris there in Houston, Texas, August 23rd, 24th and 25th. And so you're kind of been the spearhead behind that and really driving a lot of, as I say, advertising, but also really letting your clients know what's coming up on it, right?
Yes. So definitely one of my strengths, I feel like, is the marketing and the social media side of things. Last year was our first ever expo and we actually hosted it here in Dallas, which was awesome. Ann Marie, one of our marketing directors down in Houston, I'm sure you guys have had her on the show plenty of times, but Ann Marie is really the head honcho behind the expo and she does a fantastic job leading us. But last year, being in Dallas for the first time, it was a lot of fun to do a lot of the promotion for it. So you know, all of our Dallas clients, a lot of people we've met throughout the year, and even People from outside of Dallas. We probably had, I would say about 40% of the attendees last year, if not more, were from outside of Dallas or outside from the state of Texas even. And this year, since our corporate office is based down in Houston, there is one city in the US that has the most kind of like concentration of Quest clients. It would be in Houston, since that's where our corporate office is based out of. And so we've moved the expo down to Houston this year. We already sold over 550 tickets. About 40 of those came in just over the weekend. So that's really exciting. But we've got a bunch of people in Dallas excited about it. I personally, between all of our IRA specialists, we all have our different discount codes and it's a stiff competition right now. Even myself and some of the Houston IRA specialists are still like neck and neck for ticket sales. So even people from outside of Houston are really excited about it. You know, it's probably going to be a little bit more humid this year, but it's going to be at the Royal Sinesta Houston Galleria Hotel. That's a tongue twister. But it'll be right there in the Galleria area. So once you get there, everything's gonna pretty much be feel like it's all inclusive. There's tons of hotels and restaurants around there. So it's a really, really nice area that we're hosting it in this year. We're super excited.
Yeah, that's the thing. It may be in Houston, but most people are gonna be in AC the entire time.
Yes, yes. And in the Galleria area, it's a super nice area. If you guys aren't familiar with Houston, it's not a bad drive from the airport. Once you get into that area. There's so much stuff to do around there. And even like Friday night we're all going to an Astros game together. Saturday night we're hosting a really fun casino night at the hotel, so you don't have to go anywhere. We're really tying in the best education I think we will have ever put in on a three day event as well as probably the most fun networking events. I mean, all of our VIPs get to go to the Astros game with us. There are Astros tickets also for sale in very limited supply. But we're pretty much going to take up an entire section Friday night. I am super excited for it.
Yeah, they're playing the Detroit Tigers too, so that'll be nice to see. Verlander ends up pitching against his old home team Definitely.
Oh, yeah. Ooh. Almost calling me out. I'm not following sports too well this year, but hey, Astros. I'm a Houstonian at heart, so I remember going to see the Astros games when I was younger with my dad. Like, before they were bad, when they were really good, and I'm really excited for it. It's in Houston you got to root for the Astros, of course.
Amen to that. Yeah, you've got a bit of a real estate background. Family, definitely. With your dad running and owning jet lending and doing all the hard money and fix and flips and Stu that he's been responsible for. And you've always grown around. That's what I admire so much about you, is you've got that aspect. You're really kind of branching out at the Self Direct, you know, that Quest Trust Co. Figuring that out there. But you've also got that real estate background, and you and I had conversations about that in the past as well, too, in a previous episode. But I know that everybody's excited to see the lineup I've been getting. People ask me all the time, hey, where's the lineup for the Quest Expo? I see the website, but where's the lineup? And you're basically going to be releasing kind of the schedule here the next couple days, but previewing it here first, Am I correct?
Yes. So we actually have released it through certain avenues. If you know the right place to go to find it, you can find it. But I actually also have it pulled up on my left computer screen right now. So where we've actually blasted this out is exclusively to our email list that we have. We have, as of last week, sent out all three days. And last week we finished posting the final agenda on our Facebook. So if you go to our website, if you go to the Quest Expo lead page, just questexpo.com that has the lineup and the speakers, but it doesn't have the exact agenda just yet. So this is somewhat of an exclusive sneak peek, but this is actually the first time we will be kind of going through it, detailed, kind of day by day.
I love that. I love it. Another first here, the no Closer show podcast. And you know what, Hayley, too. This is episode 499 of the podcast. Episode four. I couldn't do 500 for you guys, but 499 with a podcast. So excited to have you on here for that. So good stuff.
Congratulations. That's exciting.
It is. I mean, you think about all the people. This is the second or third time you've been on here. And we're so proud of relationship that Quest and we have with you guys. And absolutely love it. Absolutely love it. And so we're just tickled pink. We're hitting 500. Whoever thought we would hit 500 begin with a long time ago. Some people like 500, like four years. You're crazy, man. Yeah, pretty much. But let's do this. Why don't we bring up day one on your screen there once you hit the share screen and share day one.
Yes. Ooh. So we're gonna start with day one. Let's see. So this is day one of the Quest Expo agenda for this year. Super excited. Day one will be Friday, August 23rd. It will be a full day of events. We're starting out strong at 9am just to kind of preface this, Friday and Saturday will be all day 9 to 5 or about 9 to 6. And then Sunday will be a half day. We did make it a half day this year because we know a lot of people are traveling in from out of town. You'll need to travel home. So if you haven't bought a ticket yet, and that's one of the things you're worried about, don't worry about it. We're ending a little bit early on Sunday, but starting it out first panel of the day, Friday. Speaking of my dad, he makes an appearance several times on this agenda for this year, as well as around our 30 other speakers that we have. So starting it out strong on Friday, the first panel of the day is going to be about finding and evaluating deals. This will be moderated by Nate Hare, our vice president here at Quest. And on this panel will be Eddie Gantt, Jay Connor, Russell Thomas, Rich Drake, Steve Vigil, and Steve Liang. So that's a really great panel to start off the day. I mean, Eddie Gantt, Russell Thomas, and Steve, those are all Quest clients and kind of forefront runners. They've got a ton of investments in their IRAs between all of them, as well as several different years of real estate experience. And then Steve Liang, as you guys may or may not know, does like comps and real estate technology for actually finding deals, running parameters on different sort of searches, comps, things like that. So we're pretty much coming out with everything loaded. We're excited. Yeah. After that, we have the market update with Chenilla Grove. Chenoa always gives a really great market update at all of our Expo events. For those of you who don't know, Chenoa and her husband Phil run all of the Texas Rias, so she's very experienced in the Market update and that forecast gonna cut to a little morning break at 11. And then right after the first break we have another panel and this one is over. How to make sure your flip isn't a flop. Guys, that's important. If you are flipping properties or even if you're not and you're interested, a lot of big barrier to entry for a lot of investors is thinking that they're gonna lose money on a deal. So on this panel we have Curtis Worden, Kiki Baker, Jim Ingersoll, Rich Drake, Michael Plax, and Ray Sasser. Curtis does a lot of high end flips down in Houston. Kiki has a ton of experience, I believe, being a real estate agent. She works with Curtis a lot on his deals, I believe. Jim Ingersoll, one of our good friends from up in Virginia, we're super excited to have him appear several times on this as well. And then. Yes. So then after that panel. So two panels in the morning, plus a market forecast and then we'll have a lunch break. If you are a VIP for the Expo, VIPs are sold out. If you did not buy one, I'm really sorry. We don't even have any extras left over. But if you are a vip, you will get separate VIP breakout lunches on Friday. That will be over the self directed Solo 401. After lunch, come back and join us. Don't be sleepy because we have prizes. And we're actually bringing out Orbit from the Astros. The Astros mascot, the little alien. He's actually gonna be making a guest appearance after lunch on the first day. Not sure how we convinced him to come, but I'm super excited for that right after lunch. They put my dad's presentation after lunch because they know he keeps people excited and entertained. He's calling his presentation how to Grow youw Corn Taller and Bigger. So my dad is a Mississippi boy, so when he says corn, I'm pretty sure he's referring to your ira. This is a presentation that he takes you through several of his IRA investments that he's done over the years. My parents have been self directing their IRAs since 2004, basically since Quest opened. So as I stand up here and I get really excited about self directed IRAs, I get really passionate about it. It's because I've actually seen my parents grow their IRAs from not that much into an amount that they could retire today and never work a day in their lives if they wanted to. Of course, they're workaholics in real estate, so that's probably not going to happen, but he's going to be talking about that in his presentation. After that, we have Real Estate Funds Explained with Mike Zlotnick. Then we have another break, and then we have another special presentation called the Best Investment Opportunities in senior housing for 2019 and beyond. So if you guys have not caught onto this train yet, this is a huge deal. I know personally, my grandma has moved into memory care this year. It's a huge thing. And there's a lot of ways that old people do need to be taken care of in their later senior lives. And it can also be a really great investment opportunity. So we'll be talking about that on Friday. Then we have a panel about hard money lending, and this is a really exciting one. We have on the panel for hard money, Eddie Gant, Paula Montos, who works with Blink Lending, Blake Yarborough, and Mike Zlotnik. So we've got some really good panels. This is one of them throughout the weekend about finding money, about private money and about hard money lending. And actually, pretty much all Friday afternoon is when these panels are. So after the hard money lending panel, we have where to get the Money now by Jay Connor. And then wrapping it up on Friday, we have one last panel about raising private money with Jay Connor, Mitch Stephen, Keith Baker, Eddie Speed, Steve Vigil, and Bob Malecki. So if you guys are looking for hard money or private money for your deals Friday afternoon, the Quest Expo is definitely the place to be for that. I think this day alone, day one, we have probably 15 different speakers. And then, of course, Friday night, we are all going to the Astros game. We won't be having buses to take you to the Astros game. It was just, it was too much of a logistical nightmare. We really tried, but we are going.
To have, if I remember correctly, the Minute Maid park is just a couple blocks down from the hotel. I mean, literally like two blocks. It's not far at all.
Yeah, you know, it's really not far. I'm not sure of the exact distance I should since I'm from Houston, but we will actually be having a special place at our information booth set up to teach our clients how to use Uber and Lyft. So if you don't currently know how to use Uber and Lyft, our staff are going to have flyers. I'm actually making the flyer this week, and we're going to have some people helping out. So you can actually help you book your Uber and Lyft rides over to the Astros game. So we won't leave you hanging. Let's see and then that's it for day one. That's all day Friday. Let's see if I can keep this up on day two.
There you go. Look at you.
That's why they call me the Dallas IT Manager. Unofficially. Very unofficially. But okay, moving on. I know I kind of breezed through day one, but I could talk about the Expo all day long. I pretty much do. Day two agenda. So again guys, kind of exclusive sneak peek. This is the first time we are walking through the entire agenda for the Quest Expo Saturday, day two, August 24th. We're going to start it out with a presentation by Eddie Speed over strategies with notes. The right note versus the right account. So you guys are here watching this show. You're obviously interested in notes. Scott, I believe your presentation is around here somewhere as well.
I'm actually not presenting this year.
Oh, you're not? Okay, well, we will miss you.
Actually, it's actually my choice, actually. Anne Marie offered it up and I was like, I spoke last year and I know everybody basically there the entire time. So I'm letting other people speak. I'm fine with letting other people speak and me just be indeed this year.
Well, are you still going to be at the Expo this year?
Oh yeah, yeah, I'll be at the Expo definitely. For sure. I'm just like, hey, I just.
You better be.
I'm just taking it easy this year. So.
Yeah, hey, that's all right. You'll come, you'll hang out.
I didn't get a chance to do a lot of that last year, so I missed out on a lot of that because of two panels and a speaking spot and having a booth. So this year I just wanted to be a normal Quest client at the event.
So yeah, hey, and that's totally understandable. It kind of gives you some time to relax, not have to be watching your watch the whole time and make sure you know you're at your speaking spot on time. I know on the logistical end of it, it is almost a nightmare sometimes making sure all of these panelists and speakers are actually where they need to be when they need to be there. So anyways, well, we'll still see you there. That's all that matters. But anyways, after that we have our first panel of the day about first and secondly notes, pros and cons. So guys, Friday afternoon is all about the hard money. The private lending. Saturday morning is all about notes. So drink your coffee that morning, come in ready to learn on the first panel over first and second lien notes. We're going to have Paquan Bilal. I'm probably not saying his last name right. I'm sorry. Pukwan, Eddie Speed, Josh Andrews, Tracy Rui, Rick Allen, Jeff Watson and Bob Zach Meyer. So that's a really strong panel. Again, Scott, I'm sad to see you not there, but you'll be enjoying it, networking, I'm sure, at the rest of the event. So that's our first panel of the day. Then we're going to have a quick little break after that. Then Blake Yarborough is going to be giving another presentation over hard money lending. And then Saturday for the lunch presentation for the VIP room, we're going to have a presentation over Commercial Investing 101 with Rick Farnouche. Rick is actually one of our Dallas clients. He's a regular at all of our lunch and learns and he gives a great presentation over commercial investing. That will be for the VIPs. So if you're general admissions, sorry, you'll have some nice networking during lunch. After lunch, we have a panel over rental properties and Airbnb with Jim Ingersoll, Eddie Gant, Russell Thomas, Brantley Gunn, Ryan De Janeiro and Michael Plax. That right there is going to be a good panel. Rentals, Airbnb. Airbnb is obviously a super hot topic right now. And what I like about this is we have a lot of real estate investors that specialize in buy and hold on this panel, but we also have Michael Plax, who is a tax guy. So if you're looking for not just the investment side of it, you know, the properties, but more of the tax side too. I'm sure that's going to be something that we're going to cover a lot in this panel. So that that's going to be a good one. I'm probably going to try to sit in there myself on that one. After the rental panel, we have Bill Fairman. Bill Fairman and Wendy Sweet talking about becoming the bank with your ira. So they do a ton of private lending there with Carolina Hard money. So becoming the bank with your ira. Then we'll have our afternoon break for Saturday. Saturday afternoon, starting back up strong at 3pm we're going to be talking about why should you invest in alternative investments with Jae Young. After that, we have how to retire early by investing in apartments. This is with Dante. Dante is one of the top coaches with the bradstrumrock team. So if you guys are interested in multifamily investing and you maybe are looking to get your feet wet, looking for a good network of people around you come to this presentation with Dante at 3:30pm I promise you it will be well worth your time. They've got a really great program with the Brad Somerock team. And then after that we have a panel over multifamily and commercial investing. So I think you guys can probably see some themes here. We've kind of grouped together the presentations and I really like that we did that. So, you know, if you're really interested in one particular type of investment, you'll know that, hey, Saturday morning or Saturday afternoon is the time that I really want to be locked in. So the panel with multifamily and commercial investing will be with Dante, Ben Kelly, Rick Farnouche and Dan Hadford. And then we have a panel right after that over Creative Investments with another really strong panel group. This is actually the first time I've seen Quincy's name on here and it's right next to John Heyer's name. So you guys want to be at this panel Saturday afternoon Anytime we get Quincy and John Heyer up on stage together, it's a riot. It's hilarious. We have to give a disclaimer before it usually ends up with the whole room laughing. But Creative Investments, the other panelists who are also just as important, we're going to have Ryan de Janeiro, Quincy Long, John Heyer, Jeff Watson, another IRA attorney, Fabian Toledo, Bob Zachmayer and Russell Thomas. I don't even know how we're fitting so many panelists up there. That's so exciting. And then last but not least, on Saturday, Jay Connor is doing a thousand dollar giveaway. So if you guys are going to be at the Expo, be in the room at 6:25, probably 6:30 or 6:35, knowing Quincy and how panels go. But be in the room at the very end. And then Saturday night we are hosting our Casino Night networking event. So if you guys know Quest and you've been to our Expo before, you know we love to host these casino nights. The Casino Party, it is included with the VIP ticket. But if you are a general admission ticket, there is a cost. It's an add on for the Casino Night. I think it's like 20 bucks. But all of the proceeds from those ticket sales are being donated to charity. So I think we have a few different charities we're donating to down in Houston this year. I don't remember the name of them off the top of my head, but at Quest we do really love to give back and we're going to have a lot of fun doing it. So come to Casino Night VIPs. You've already got included general admission. It's a $20 add on. You can either buy that at the event or you can buy that@questexpo.com before the event. Really doesn't matter. Casino night probably will not sell out, but the Astros tickets definitely will sell out. Yeah, we've got about 300 people going to the Astros game, which is why we couldn't do buses. Again, just a logistical nightmare, but it's not that far. But we've got about 300 people going. Astros tickets, I did not mention this. I think are like 60 or $70. If you buy at the event, do it early Friday morning because if not, you might not be able to go. We're not going to have hidden tickets. We can't really do that. They're in really high demand. But that's day two, a lot of fun. Panels, multifamily notes seems to be the main topics of the day. And then again, don't miss that panel over creative investments at 5:45. That's probably going to be one of the best panels of the weekend. And let's see, moving on to day three. As you notice, day three is just a little bit shorter. Did it switch over on your screen?
Perfect. Good job, Haley.
Awesome. So day three again, guys, it is going to be a half day because we know a lot of people are coming in from out of town. Last year we did a full day on Sunday and even at 6pm we still had about 200 people in the room, which was less than half. But most people, if they were able to, they stayed until the very end. A lot of people were sad to leave. So we will be wrapping it up just a little bit earlier this year. But starting out strong on day three we have a panel over real estate due diligence. So this is awesome. I like that we're doing this after some of the other panels because you can learn about the different strategies, different things like that kind of let your brain sit on it a little bit and then learn about the due diligence on day three, which is, as you guys know, very, very important. So real estate due diligence. Starting it out with Russell Thomas, Rich Drake, Jeff Watson, David Valencourt, Curtis Worden and Tom Berry. Very, very experienced real estate investors and even two real estate attorneys on there. So great panel. Starting it out. And right after that is a panel over note due diligence. So for note due diligence, we're going to have Paul Amontos, Tracy Rui, Eddie Speed, Donald Sutton, TJ Osterman, Quincy Long, and Tom Berry. Guys, that's another really strong lineup right there for that note. Due diligence panel. So day three started off strong. Don't party too hard at Casino Night if you want to learn about due diligence or do it doesn't matter. We'll all be there. But have fun with the networking. But don't stay out too late. Mama Hailey is coming in telling you right now because we have some great topics each morning. Anyways, after those two panels, we have the morning break. And after the morning break, we have a presentation about the secret of finding freedom and success. This is with Steve Liang, who is the owner and founder of Real Estate IQ Secret of Finding Freedom and Success. I can't really say I know what this topic is about, but it makes me excited. I actually know how Steve kind of got a start in real estate. His either parents or grandparents were very successful in real estate over in China a long time ago, and he kind of eventually made his way over here, has been following the same paths in real estate. So he's got a lot of wisdom to share and he's grown his company very substantially in the past couple of years that I've known him. He's a great guy. So that'll be a great presentation there as well. And then right after that, we have Quincy giving his own keynote presentation, saving one of the best for last. And this is going to be over inherited IRAs, the gift that keeps on giving. So inherited IRAs are a huge topic all the time. There's a lot of people in the Financial Friends Network that love inherited IRAs. They talk about them all the time and the different strategies of how to really boost that inherited ira. There is some legislation right now that could potentially change some of this. And Quincy, being the attorney that he is, is probably going to give a really, really great presentation over all of the different kind of topics that go along with inherited IRAs. So that'll be a really great presentation there. And last but not least is the last presentation of the weekend will be a panel about forming the best entity for your needs. So as a real estate investor, asset protection, the ability not to be pierced by lawsuits or things like that, is of course, huge when you're protesting your nest egg and your assets. So after you learn about all of these different investing strategies throughout the weekend, you can learn how to protect them through due diligence in the morning and then forming an entity with the last panel in the afternoon. I kind of like how we Structured this. You know, I read through the agenda I actually made. I copied and pasted into these images to create the pretty version of the agenda. But it's the first time I've really kind of gone through it in detail myself. And we've structured it really well. We've kind of got things grouped together. Day three, due diligence, forming an entity to protect your assets. It's going to be a really nice flow of topics from day to day. And I'm really excited about that. Glad we're getting to go through it.
Yes, it's exciting. The line up there and the way you have it lumped in does help people be able to pick and be focused for two hours or three hours, whatever they need to be, and then spend time out in the vendor area and then networking with the other vendors and people with booths and things like that out there. So that's a great, great, great lineup there, Haley.
Yes, I'm excited and I will let you guys know. I know a lot of times if you attend a big real estate export conference like this, events like this are notorious for always running really far behind schedule. And you know, by the time you get to the end of the day, it ends up ending around 7 or 8pm and you're tired, you don't want to go do anything after that. I will say last year we did very good with staying on time. I think that's actually one of the things I ended up kind of helping a lot on the back end of things was helping make sure all of our speakers were ready, presentations were going. We've got a big timer up there, so we will, I think, do a pretty good job of staying on time throughout the weekend. We'll have expo programs and all of the little goodie bags that you get, so you'll be able to see all of this as well as information about all of our vendors. But if you're not able to attend the Expo and you want to see these presentations, or even if you attend the Expo and your head is spinning by the end of the weekend, so you want to be able to rewatch them, we will have the recorded copy of all three days of the presentations for sale. I think it's like $70. I believe your coupon code, Carson19, not only works on Expo tickets, but at least if you use it right now, we might change this. I don't know. But this coupon code also works on the recordings as well. So if you go online and buy your ticket or buy the recordings, your coupon code, Carson 19 gets them 25% off of, I think, any of that.
So that's always a nice thing. Off the regular tickets. Off of the. It did work on the VIP when you have VIP tickets available, but you missed out on that. The replays. Yeah, it's a discount code that works for about everything here in 2019. Carson, 19 out there for the 25% discount off the two. Now, I won't include discount off the Astros tickets or the VIP party. Those are separate there at the end.
Those are separate.
You do get off of the general admission tickets and then also, of course, the replays and some. We have that run throughout the year too. So.
Yeah, and if you buy the recording, it's not like where you get it for a few months and then we kind of take it away. I think you just get the recordings. Last year it took about 30 to 45 days to have them actually put together, kind of cut down and just like all the content reviewed to make sure everything we put out there was something good for people to have that recording. But, you know, after the 30 days after the Expo, you'll have the full recorded copy. You can rewatch it at any time. And a lot of these speakers, they may speak at their own events, they may do their own local real estate events, things like that, but being able to have them together on these panels, and these are different panel topics than we did last year. There's not really a whole lot of overflow from what we covered last year to this year. So a lot of them are new topics. And we've got a lot of new panelists, too. I know. Like, for example, Curtis Worden, he's a firecracker. He should definitely have some great, funny information to share. Eddie, my dad is a firecracker. You know, Quincy and John hire together. You get those two together and they're at the end of the day, we may serve him a glass of wine right before that panel, too. And you know, it's going to be some good information. I can't say it enough how excited we are. Our staff has been working so hard this year to sell tickets, make sure, you know, everything's coming together, all the little details, like a photo booth, you know, having a how to use Uber and Lyft flyer, you know, little commercials that'll be playing throughout the whole weekend. We've really put like our blood, sweat and tears into it. And I was talking to Anne Marie and she was like, I can't believe, believe it's almost here. Like, we're two weeks away. It's so exciting.
Yeah. And you've already exceeded last year's numbers. Cause I know exactly how many people you had last year and then you get told me beforehand the number. So you've already exceeded the signups from last year, which is great. And you're at a place there in Houston that makes it easy for people to get in and out of as well too. You want to stop sharing your screen and we'll just bring it. Yes. There we go. So I think one of the best things that people can get out of attending the Quest expert. For those that are planning to come in, first and foremost you're going to be around 500 plus real estate investors. That's the first thing. 500 plus real estate investors. You're going to have plenty of potential people there with private money looking to land, looking to learn. So it's a great opportunity. So you want to bring plenty of business cards. Can we agree to that, Hailey?
Yes, yes. We've already sold over 550 tickets. About 45 of those came in just over the weekend. So I mean it might sell out. There's going to be a ton of people there. The room holds 700 so we're expecting anywhere from 6 to 700 at this point. So yes, if you think you have enough business cards, probably bring more than you think. Yeah.
And make sure you take a photo of one of your business cards so that if you do run out you can still text the people you meet along the way too. But let's talk. There's also you've got a large vendor area as well with a lot of people, a lot of booths and people that weren't mentioned on the itinerary, right?
We do, yeah. So we have I think close to 40 vendors for this year. The vendor spots sold out super fast this year. But at Quest we really pride ourselves on giving the best education. We never want to appear like we're like pitching or endorsing investments. So we don't just bring anyone in as a sponsor. If they just want to throw us a bunch of money just to sponsor one of our events, we usually like to at least have some sort of pre existing relationship there. So the vendors that are at this expo are the best of the best that we work with. There's of course several hard money lenders, note companies, multifamily, Brad Somerock will be there, real estate iq, non recourse lenders. There's a lot of vendors there so definitely take some time and walk around there. I believe we will be doing our Expo bingo card again, where we do give you a little bit of incentive to actually go walk around and talk to the vendors. But I'll let you know if you're doing that bingo card. Don't just walk up to the vendors and give them the card to get the stamp and then move on. Actually stop and talk to them. And before you come to the Expo, think to yourself, what are my goals and what are my agenda for this weekend? What type of people am I trying to meet? What sort of relationships am I trying to grow and foster and meet these sorts of people? And what sort of vendors are the vendors that I need to be looking at and talking to and actually take some time and go talk to them? You know, a lot of our vendors are traveling in from out of town. They're there to talk to you guys. So definitely take full advantage of all the resources we're going to have there for you.
Yes. But also to make sure this is an important thing. Make sure you spend a little time, you're not heading to the casino party, you're not head to the game. Take the time not to just go hide in your hotel room. Take the time to grab dinner with somebody, make your reservations now and spend some time visiting with other people that are there because you have people from all across the country, people all across Texas, and pick a group, call a restaurant and serve it for 10 and fill up that 10 spot if you can, because a lot of people are looking to network after the event is done for the day. Right, Haley?
Yes. Yeah, I know a few of our speakers, not going to name anyone in particular. Eddie Gantt, like to get all of the networking that they can, shutting down the bar at the end of the night. I love that idea of, you know, book a table for people at dinner. But just do realize if you're looking out and trying to, like, meet certain people, a lot of the speakers I know, my dad in particular, he doesn't like to go to dinner with people because he would rather hang out at the bar and just openly talk with everyone. I know a lot of times when these speakers go to events, there's so many people that just try to pull them off to the side and do all this stuff. So maybe don't try to do that, but go out to the bars, got to the hallway areas and talk to people. And I always say to you, as you're bringing your business cards, as you collect business cards, I always have a pen somewhere near where I'm collecting these business cards. And I write down when I talk to them like some little note that's going to help me remember who that person was. And if there was a really good conversation I'll put like several stars on it. Or if I don't have a pen, I'll fold the corner. So I know that that was a really good conversation that I need to follow up with that person. So just little things like that, like you guys are going to meet so many people throughout the weekend. You know, kind of have little ways to do that. You know, make dinner reservations for people, go out to the bar after, find some of the speakers there. A lot of them will probably be there. I can probably like guarantee you that. But there's so many, so many ways to network. And if you're a vip, we're going to have that VIP lounge that you have access to all weekend. During the breaks we'll have snacks in there and during the lunches we'll have different breakout presentations. So. And the VIP lunches last year were really good. Granted it is at a different hotel this year. But I mean we're pulling out all the stops. It's going to be a really high quality event. We can't wait for it yet.
