Four rules for building wealth: buy only what you need, avoid debt unless you have leverage, spend less than you earn, and invest rather than just save. Starting early matters most.

If I had 1 minute to teach you everything you need to know about finance, this is what I would tell you. Number 1, don't buy shit you don't need to impress people you don't want to impress. It's really self-explanatory. Don't buy the shit that you don't need and do not help you in your life. Number 2 is going to be do not go into debt. If you don't have assets to give you leverage, do not go into debt no matter what. It will ruin your life. Number 3, spend less than you earn. It's pretty self-explanatory. Self-explanatory, but once you spend more money than you have, you're not going to be able to make it. And number 4 is going to be invest instead of saving. Invest in yourself, invest in your skill set, and invest in the S&P or something general like that. The sooner you start, the better, and the better money you're going to make in your lifetime. That's it.
