Jeff Watson and Luke use the geese V-formation to explain why teams go farther than solo operators. When birds fly together, they gain 71% more range. Leaders who rotate the lead position and share the load get better results.

Hey, happy Monday everybody. Our Monday minute, we're going to be switching it up a little bit. I want to be more of a motivational Monday, Luke. I think it's a great thing for us as dealers to have some sort of an uplifting message that we can take into our dealerships on a Monday morning. So Luke and I are going to try harder to give you just a little bit of a kick in the pants on Monday morning. Something you can either internally do or something you can take to your team to be able to implement. And one thing that kind of crossed my mind, Luke, I heard a quote the other day that said, if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
That's great. I love that, Jeff.
So I think about that in the team situation, we've got a lot of dealers out there and we range all over the place. We've got some single owner operators, we've got some multi store operators, 50, 60, 150 employees listening here. But the concept can apply no matter what you're doing. Sure. If you want to go fast, go by yourself, go out there, you can sling some cars, you can do it everything on your own and be a one man show and you're probably gonna have a great lifestyle. But if you have a team, remember to utilize your team. Right?
That's right. And that's so important that we all, not all of us, but a lot of us start out as a one person show without that support system. So sometimes it's a little hard to give up a little bit. But I tell you, once you get the whole team and the whole boat, rowing in the same direction makes things smoother for you. And honestly, it brightens everybody's life. You know, your employees are there and you're helping provide education and you're providing their home and their food. You know, not literally, but you are. So I mean, it's just great to see everybody work together.
It is. And it reminds me this time of year I have, we've got these geese that fly over my area this time of year. Right. Heading back south, I guess. And everyone knows they fly in a V. Right. Because the front geese goose takes all the brunt of the wind and then when he gets tired, he falls to the back. So it's very, very similar in our dealerships. Right. I mean we can't always be that front goose on every item in our dealership. Sometimes we've got to let someone else come to the front and carry the baton for a while.
Sure. And you know what's even even carries to this is that if you always are the person coming up with the ideas and you're shutting everybody down, you're not doing what's best for your organization. So listen to people in your dealership and if and see if they have good ideas, let them run to the front a little bit like you're talking about, because you will move further, not just moving faster, with that type of philosophy.
Awesome, everybody. Hope you have a great week. Hope you're geared up to kill it in the automotive industry, retail, buy here, pay here, wholesale, whatever you're doing. Thanks for listening and stay tuned for our episode on Thursday.
