In this introductory episode of the Meaningful Revolution podcast, host Shawn Buttner—a certified high‑performance coach—explains the show’s purpose: to help listeners add just 1% more meaning to each day over the next year. He outlines three core distinctions that set the podcast apart: (1) an ad‑free experience with no third‑party sponsorships, (2) conversations that focus on guests’ passions and expertise, and (3) a coaching‑style format that treats each episode like a focused coaching session on something the guest loves. Buttner shares his enthusiasm for experimenting with the format, acknowledges the inevitable ups and downs, and invites listeners to join the journey. He provides clear calls to action—subscribe on Apple Podcasts, leave a comment, and visit his coaching website—and previews upcoming episodes featuring topics such as his love for coaching, a conversation with marriage‑and‑family therapist Michael Seeley on athlete resilience, discussions on rituals, and leadership. The tone is conversational, enthusiastic, and motivational, aiming to inspire listeners to pursue more meaning in their lives.

Hey, everyone. Welcome to the Meaningful Revolution podcast where we talk about people's passions and we ask the question, what if you could add just 1% more meaning to your day every day for the next year? I'm your host, Shawn Butner, and I'm a certified high performance coach. And as a coach, it's my job usually to help people reconnect with the things that they find meaningful in their lives. It's relationships, it's the work that they do, it's the passions and causes that they follow and look to grow in the world. Thank you for joining me on this podcasting journey. And you know, as we go forward, I have three distinctions that I think will make this podcast different and compelling to most folks. And I'll talk a little bit about my process and then we'll be done. So first off, what makes this podcast distinct in my view? First off, it's my intention to not have third party ads or sponsorships. I think when I'm listening to podcasts, what I really love is hearing the people talk, you know, and so it can get kind of, you can get thrown off your rhythm when you have somebody talking about selling underwear or shoes or whatever. The thing is that they're, they're, they're pedaling, which is fine, and I fully support that. But my intention here is to focus on highlighting people's passions to help hopefully inspire you to cultivate yours. And along the way, the only type of ads that I'll do will probably be very short. Come check out my brand, check out my coaching, check out my personal development, training things. It'll just be something quick like that instead of a long, protracted, interrupting the flow of things. So that's my first intention, and I really like that about podcasts. And so I think that'll make this a little bit distinct. The second is we talk about what people love. And I think that when you hear someone talk about something they're an expert in that they're passionate about, that lights them up. That that's really compelling and inspiring. Right. And the folks that I'm talking to, to also are mostly nerds, I would consider nerds at least, and mostly people that I know for this first season. So the first couple of seasons, on a side note, my plan is to experiment. So hopefully you'll be along with me on that journey. You'll see me fail, you see me try stuff. Hopefully it'll be awesome. I'm sure there'll be ups and downs and, you know, it'll be a crazy roller coaster. I'M looking forward to it. It'll probably be messy, so thanks in advance for understanding. But we have some really good stuff in this first season, and we'll get to that here in a second. So first off, no ads. Second off, second point. We talk about what people love. And the third thing to point out is that I'm a coach first and I speak for a living, and I normally help people reconnect to what they love in my daily work. Right. We also talk about things that catch them or prevent them from succeeding even more or realizing the transformations that they want. And so I think the structure of the podcast is from, in my view, kind of like a coaching session that's only focused on something that you're excited about. So I think that'll be an interesting take, as so many other folks that get into podcasting are comedians or journalists or celebrities or. There's a number of different ways and avenues that people come into podcasting. And I think, I don't know so many coaches that are running podcasts. There's a couple I could think of off the top of my head, and they run really good ones. So hopefully I can be a really good one, too. But really I'm just here because I think this will be fun. I think I'll be passionate, and I think if we can inspire just one person, that would be great, but I think can do a lot more. I have a feeling this will be great. So I'm really excited that you're here. So with that said, I just want to say if you want to help me out, number one, please make sure to subscribe on Apple Podcasts and leave a comment because that helps me chart in the podcasting world. So I'll keep you guys appraised and how that's going when I launch this here probably early August 2022, as I'm recording this. So please help me out that and go to Apple Podcasts and leave a comment and subscribe to the Meaningful Revolution podcast. Also, if you want to learn more about me, can go to Sean Coach S H E W N Coach. It'll go to my website and you can see some of the coaching things that I do, some of the other things about me. The second way you can help me out is to listen to the next couple episodes. Right. Next one, I'll talk about why I love coaching. After that, I have my good friend Michael Seeley. He's a marriage and family therapist who focuses on the psychology of athletes. So, you know, being, being resilient and performing and all that kind of good stuff. We had a really, really awesome conversation. Also coming up, we have the power of rituals. We have somebody talking about leadership. It's really so much fun, guys. So, but please be sure to listen to the next podcast. Download it if you can do that, too. That helps, and that would be really good. So that said, guys, I can't wait to start this journey with you. So let's jump in to the next topic on coaching.
