In this motivational weekly “dare” video, Shelly (Shelli) Rood of Mission Ambition greets viewers, shares a personal anecdote about the founders of Coonan Brewing Company, and uses their story to illustrate the principle of “failing forward.” She explains how the brothers pivoted from a hardware store to a successful brewery and distillery after facing competition from big‑box retailers, emphasizing that failures can become opportunities when leveraged correctly. Shelly then challenges the audience to identify a recent personal or professional failure, analyze it, and apply the lessons to move forward, citing Mark Twain’s idea that history rhymes. The video closes with a call‑to‑action for coaching services, website and social‑media links, and a request for a Facebook review.

Good morning everyone, Shelli Rood with Mission Ambition, your stop for workshops and seminars on personal and professional development. Happy Monday! Isn't it a gorgeous day? I thought it was gonna rain, but I hope I can get through this video. Welcome to your weekly dare. You're gonna use today to do this dare, and it's gonna help kick off your week to an awesome start. I'm on a little bit of a high this morning because I spent the morning with the brothers who started the Coonan Brewing Company out in Clinton Township, over in Warren, Michigan as well. I'm just kidding. I wish I was slugging back a couple with them, but I did get to meet them and chat with them a lot. It was part of an event put on by the Macomb Chamber of Commerce called the Founders' Secrets to Success. What a wonderful story, and we are going to use it this week to help motivate us to do good things in the world. So today we're going to talk about failing forward. We all fail. We got to figure out how to fail and fail and use it to go forward in life. So the brothers who started Coonan Brewing Company actually started out in business as a hardware store. The problem was that the big box hardware stores like Lowe's and Home Depot were popping up. One would pop up, one across the street would pop up, one two streets over would pop up. And they said that their store basically fit in the electrical aisle of one of the other stores. So they started to brew beer not by accident, but as more of a side fun recreational type of thing. And then it just really took off from there. So here we are 16 later, 16 years later, they've opened their own distillery. You can have the restaurant and the kitchen now over in Clinton Township. So I highly recommend that you just go check them out. They have a really good pumpkin ale that's coming out in a couple weeks here, and it has real pumpkins. 100 real pumpkins go in every batch of that. So let's talk about failing forward. Your dare this week: I dare you to isolate a failure that you have had this past week. I dare you to really think about it, analyze it, and use it to help you move forward. Why? That's the question. Why do we want to focus on our failures? Because you can't ignore history. History does not repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme, and Mr. Mark Twain said that. So if you don't want your history to repeat itself or rhyme, then I highly suggest you take a look at the things that you're doing wrong so that we can figure out how to make make things move in the right direction. I am Shelly Rood with Mission Ambition. If you would love for me to come in and spread the message of encouragement to your team, please email me at coach@shellyrood.com. Check us out on the web at missionambition.org, and while you're there, head over to Facebook and leave me a 5-star review. Thank you so much, you guys. Go out, have an awesome work week. It's beautiful. I'm glad the sun's out today.
