Mission: Ambition, Give vs Receive Mode

Shelly Rude breaks down two mindsets: receiving mode means staying open to new information and setting goals, while giving mode means executing a solid plan. She challenges you to practice both in different areas of your life.

Good morning guys. It's Shelly Rude with mission ambition and welcome to your weekly dare. It is a beautiful day outside. Happy Monday. This is Lake St. Clair behind me. It's just gorgeous and I'm very glad and blessed to be here with you today. I am on a high because I just came off of an awesome networking meeting where one of my contacts is going to bring me into a high end client for an appreciation event and I get to help coach them for a little while on how to have a better life. There's nothing better in the world than that. And today we are going to talk about giving versus receiving. Why is it important? Giving versus receiving. These are two different states of mind that you live in. So my goal for you is to walk away from this video thinking, am I actually in the giving mode in this stage of life or am I in the receiving mode in this stage of life? You have seven different areas that we all have as part of our lives. And if you don't know what they are, I have another message on that. But for today, we're going to use health as our subject matter for this giving versus receiving. So here's this week's dare. I dare you to be a conscious giver in one area of your life. I also dare you to be a conscious receiver in another area of your life. Let's talk about the difference between giving and receiving. If you are in receive mode, that means a couple of things. It means that you are open mentally to change. It means that you have a goal that you're working towards. Like I am going to drop ten pounds in the next two months. You have to be seeking expertise. You are not the expert anywhere in any area of your life. So you are openly seeking and looking for other materials. Now notice I didn't say you have to agree with those materials because the next point is that you have to actually meditate on the materials that you're bringing in. So seek the expertise, bring it in, read through it, meditate on it. That's the receiving mode, the giving mode. We are all in giving mode all the time. Whether you realize it or not. Every interaction that you have, every handshake that you have, you are giving back to the world and you need to have a strategy. So you better be receiving some good stuff before you go ahead and give it out. So you're in giving mode. When you are super confident in your background, you either are an expert in the field or you're referring out to an expert in the field. In this case, you are going to a gym and you're working with a personal trainer. You are reading books written by fitness professionals. You're written something written by a doctor. There's a nutrition plan that's clinically proven, something like that. You have to have an actual plan, right? I eat, you know, a couple good vegetables is not a plan. It's not a plan. I'm sorry, it's not a plan. So you have to have a plan. If you're in giving mode and you have to actually ready the biggest one, you have to execute the plan. You have to execute the plan. So many people have plans. Oh, yeah, I'm going to lose ten pounds this month. No, you have to actually execute the plan. So again, my dare, I dare you to go ahead and be a conscious receiver in one area and a conscious giver in another area. I am Shelly Rude with mission ambition. If you would love for me to come in and spread the message of encouragement to your team, please email me at coachellyrude.com check us out on the web@missionambition.org and while you're there, head over to Facebook and leave me a five star review.
