Into your routine. Number one, going balls to wall, dipping your face first into the retinoid regardless of the type of retinoid every single night of the week and your face falling off in the process. Then you go into your dermatologist and telling them, I can't tolerate retinoids. Let me tell you something, you probably can, but you're using the wrong type of retinoid and you're doing it way too often. Number two, we all seem to have discovered exfoliating acids in the pandemic, but let me tell you a secret. It's if you are beginning to incorporate retinoids in your routine, do not use them on the same night that you are exfoliating your skin. You're only going to make your skin more sensitive and sensitized in the process and you will look like a shriveling, flaky tomato. Number three, if you have sensitive skin, applying the retinoid as the first step in your skincare routine, use your other products in your routine as a buffer and let the retinoid be the last step of your routine to minimize any sort of irritation. And number four, forgetting to wear sunscreen.
