If you have post inflammatory erythema, here are three things you can do to help yourself so that you're not suffering for years and hopefully just weeks. I'm a dermatologist and my top three favorite ingredients to minimize redness are Number one Number one Centella Asiatica and when it's married to sunscreen like this guy, it's perfection because Centella asiatica helps to minimize inflammation and redness. Number two Azelaic acid. Now you might have heard this one helps with pigmentation, but it actually helps with redness too because it prevents the widening of blood vessels. This is where an over the counter azalaite acid is great, but if you have melasma you probably want prescription anything from 5 to 10% over the counter. You'll be golden. Number three arnica but not the homeopathic diluted kind. You want the potent form of arnica in its purest form because it has anti inflammatory benefits that reduce the expression of pro inflammatory cytokines and that can help minimize the appearance of redness. Hence why people use it for bruising. Let me know as always if you have any questions below.
