Welcome back little nerds to Pillow Talk Derm. It is Saturday morning. You know what that means? Get your pens and papers out, get your asses out of bed because we're about to have a pillow Talk Derm. Because you guys have been asking me about devices for years and with Black Friday right around the corner, what better time than now to discuss these devices before you throw down some serious cash. And Black Friday is a time for you to save. So today let's talk about which devices are actually worth your money and which ones you can actually scale skip based on your needs, but more importantly, your skin's needs. And I laugh when I say this because it turns out this is the truth that no one likes to hear. A device is only worth it if it is, number one, helping you out with a very specific concern and not because TikTok told you to buy it or because it looked cool or fun to use. And two, you use it consistently and don't let it sit by your nightstand and make it look like a questionable device. Been guilty of that. I'm Dr. Shereen Idris, a board certified dermatologist and today we're going to breaking down some of the most talked about devices on the beauty market right now that you have been seeing quite literally everywhere. Starting with number one, the Current Body LED Red Light Therapy Face Mask Series two. Thank you Current Body for sponsoring this portion of the video. But the majority of LED masks on the market only have red light or and near infrared light. What makes this particular mask Special? The Series 2 mask is that it also has deep near infrared light with 1072 nanometers. So you have three highly precise wavelengths. In this mask you have the red light at 633nm, you have the near infrared light at 830nm and then you have the near infrared, the deep near infrared at 1072 nanometers, which means that the light can penetrate much deeper into the subcutaneous layer of your skin. Skin plus the fit of the mask is super flexible and very comfortable and easy to use on your face. But what I love the most about this company, and I've spoken about this before, is the quality control is top notch. In order for them to achieve target precision. Current Body literally checks every single bulb and only approves one out of every four bulbs that they use in the Series 2 masks. So I would recommend using this for fine lines and wrinkles and any signs of aging usually appearing in your late 20s to mid-30s. But if you have melasma, I would not use this mask or any red light LED mask. Their biggest sale now of the year. You can get 20% off with the code Shereen. So to get the biggest bang for your buck, I'm going to tell you you have to use it consistently every single day. So if skin care is considered your gym, then the LED mask is considered your hit workout where you quite literally want to hit it very regularly. See what I did there? Now on to the next device Microcurrent this is the zip Halo all in one microcurrent facial device. And fun fact about this device, I interviewed its founder years ago on Pillow Talk Derm One Night Stand and it's still up on my Instagram channel. But what I love about the zip Halo all in one microcurrent facial device is that it is not only a microcurrent device, it is also a microcurrent and a nano current device. Two in one the microcurrent of this device is going to target the deeper muscle layers of your face to help with tone and facial contour, while the nano current is going to work at a much more cellular level to help nudge your ATP production within your cells. And the ATP production is your cell's natural energy currency that supports repair and a healthier functioning barrier over time. So the dual current synergy is not something that you see in other devices. And that's why I particularly appreciate this device. It is extremely, extremely user friendly. They have an app on the phone that walks you through any treatment that you want to do on your face, neck or chest. And wherever you place it, it can help you walk you through it. So it's not intimidating at all. And that lowers the barrier. You're using this device and that's why I love it because you're actually going to want to use it. I love how sleek and compact it is without any bulky attachments or any clutter. So hopefully this is something that you will absolutely purchase and love and use consistently because consistency is the key word. If you want to see subtle but absolutely real improvements, you have to use it quite regularly for early laxity in your 30s and 40s to help support the scaffolding of your face before it gives away. It would be a great Black Friday gift for yourself or for one of your loved ones. And you can get 20% off the halo and 30% off of the gels that it comes with with the code Ship zip Having two eyes. I will link everything below in the description box. This one you've seen everywhere. The Shark Beau Facial Pro it is fairly a new device on the market, but it is already hitting the viral feed with a storm because it's giving you an at home facial promise. It comes with multiple attachments to exfoliate, hydrate, depuff and even sculpt your face. So on paper it seems like a weekly spa treatment in one gadget. But I have to be honest with you guys, this one makes me very, very nervous because when people get go wrong, they go wrong and strong. And I went wrong and strong when I was exfoliating with this and testing it out. So I can only imagine the margin for irritation and barrier disruption that you guys are going to have when you do this at home. It sounds harmless, but it is not. Because once you start scraping away at an inflamed or uncompromised skin barrier, you're going to run into a lot of problems. The only head I like is maybe the cooling head like this. But quite frankly, this particular head should belong in professional hands and not in every bathroom counter. If you like the cooling device, you can get one at the fraction of the cost in the form of a spoon that you put in the fridge and and that can easily cool and help to depuff your face. We have our NuFace Trinity microcurrent, which is another well known microcurrent classic and for good reason. I've been talking about this device for years. It sends low level electrical current into facial muscles to help to stimulate and tone those muscles for a subtle lift and better contour. I find it especially helpful for lifting and de puffing and redefining the jawline. And yes, it is perfect for the dreaded jowl territory. But I do not use this with the gel that it comes with. I love pairing this with my deep puffer serum, because with the deep puffer serum and this, you're attacking puffiness in the moment as well as in the long term. So my verdict for this, it is a tried and true that I have used for years. And when you use it consistently, you definitely see results. But do not let it sit by your nightstand. We have the Medicube Booster Pro. This is an interesting one because it is a hybrid, but what I like the most about this device, it is specifically the combination of EMS as well as the microcurrent combo. EMS stands for electrical muscle stimulation and that actually contracts your deeper muscles, giving your face a more sculpted and snatched vibe. But at the same time, the microcurrent like we just talked about, helps to support your skin energy and radiance. And so it's a nice tag team together for overall rejuvenation and definition. So if you are somebody who wants a tool to that covers lifting, that covers better definition and that also gives you better absorption of your products, this could be your one stop shop. It is definitely though a tech heavy device which is great but can be a little bit intimidating. And as long as you don't overdo the intensities at home, you will be golden. Now we've gone through 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 is our medi lift Essential mask which is one of my favorite personal masks that I like to reach out to for jawline support when I do not want to hold on to something. Okay. It is crazy looking. It looks like an SNS situation but is a wearable hands free EMS mask that literally lets you work out your facial muscles while you do other things. So you'll be hands free and free to do whatever you need to do. This is specifically designed for the cheeks, jawline and masseter territory to lift, define and contour your face. It helps to pick that gravity pull area up. And yes, it looks a little bit SM ish and energy but she works hard for her money and it's a very strong choice if you need lower face definition. And this is your pain point and you do not want to waste your time holding a device. But if you have tmj, just be careful because you do not want to necessarily bulk up these muscles even more. And last but certainly not least, the Dermaflash ultrasonic pore extractor. This is one that I personally will never recommend. Any pore extracting spatula. All right, that looks like this. Whether or not it is utilizing ultrasonic extraction may look satisfying on TikTok, on Instagram, on YouTube, but people end up traumatizing their skin and over stripping or pushing inflammation even deeper. So poor clearing at best should be done in the hands of a professional or at home through chemical exfoliant exfoliation, not physical one or not manually scraped out. So my verdict is skip this baby. You're better off using a chemical exfoliant with salicylic acid or if you're very sensitive, mandelic acid or seeing a derm or an esthetician who knows your skin best. And there you have it. We went through 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 devices. I hope this video was helpful. I hope it helps you navigate the device territory better and I hope it allows you to make a smarter, more informed Black Friday purchase. And with that I hope you guys have a beautiful Saturday.
