Dr. Shereene Idriss, a 42-year-old dermatologist, had fat from her inner thighs transferred to her chest to treat sleep lines. Fat contains stem cells and blood vessels, not just volume. Different processing methods like microfat and nanofat produce different results, from structural support to skin quality improvement.

My friend Katie just sent me this text, and honestly, I do not blame her because I hated my sleep lines too. And this is what I used to look like, but this is what my chest looks like now. In fact, I'll just show you guys. But boom, boom! I'm a 42-year-old cosmetic dermatologist, and what I used to treat those lines might either shock you or gross you out, but I used my own fat. So under local anesthesia, meaning I was never put under, I had the fat from my inner thighs Sucked out, and within an hour that fat was processed and injected into my chest, which makes it sound slightly unhinged. But this is the interesting part because most of us think of fat as that annoying thing that we spend our whole lives trying to get rid of. Biologically though, fat is fascinating because fat is not just fat; it is a living tissue that has blood vessels, structural cells, immune cells, and even stem cells, which is the holy grail. This is the part that matters most: how you process your fat makes all the difference because depending on how you chop up. that fat, you can get microfat, nanofat, or other fat-derived products where each one of these types of fat interacts very differently with the tissue that you place it in. And some forms of fat are better at giving back volume and a little bit of structure here and there, but other forms of fat are being studied for their ability to improve the inherent quality of your skin, which can really help in the long run. It's probably the ultimate longevity hack. So when I look at my own chest, I'm looking at the quality of my skin and does it look better? And that is what I think sets regenerative dermatology apart because you are asking yourself, how can we inherently improve our own skin quality without having to change who we are? So before you go ahead and spend thousands of dollars on chasing the next big thing, I'm going to be sharing here the science, the real before and afters, not just of myself but also of my patients, as well as the ins and outs of these procedures so you guys can start separating what is worth your money versus what is just marketing bullshit.
