YouTube short (single-speaker monologue) by dermatologist Shereene Idriss criticizing the idea of 'preventative' Botox. The speaker argues starting Botox too early can accelerate aging, lists aesthetic and practical downsides (heavier forehead, flatter brows, loss of individuality), advises waiting until lines persist at rest before treating, and emphasizes true prevention through skincare, barrier protection, and lifestyle balance.

Preventative Botox. It's bullshit as a whole concept, but also as a way of life. And here's the irony. The downfall of starting too early could lead to faster aging. For Botox to be truly preventative, you would need to get it every three months on the dot, religiously, over the course of years. And over time, your forehead will feel heavier, your brows will get flatter, and you will lose the essence of what makes you you. As a dermatologist who focuses in cosmetics, I would never Botox somebody in their 20s with zero lines. Because it's not prevention, it's feeding into panic. I can't help but wonder, is preventative Botox the new gateway drug to preventative face? Because at 28, if we're talking about mini lifts, have we lost the plot? The right time to start is when those lines stop disappearing at rest and you see the first signs of etched lines that never disappear. Aging is really becoming public enemy number one. You will never be happy with your reflection because you cannot out age the aging process. True prevention. It starts with skin care. Know your skin, protect your barrier, and give yourself permission to live a little bit.
