Shereene Idriss explains how to know if you're a good candidate for under-eye filler. Check how the fold moves when you smile, feel where your bony rim sits relative to the fold, and assess your whole face, not just the under-eye area in isolation. See a board-certified dermatologist instead of chasing trends.

You're looking at the under eyes, you have to look at your face as a whole. Because just getting filler on your under eyes and not addressing the rest of your face is like ironing one sleeve of a wrinkled shirt and leaving the rest wrinkled. So step one is to look at your tear troughs, also known as your nasojugal folds, and to evaluate when you smile if it goes down or up. Step two is to feel your bony rim. If your bone is higher than your fold, then you're probably a better candidate than not. But if your bone is lower than your fold, it's not for you. And step three, it doesn't end there. You want to look at your face as a whole. If you are sinking over here, if you are sagging over here. Because just to address this without addressing the rest of your face will make you look in the long run. And I hope this helps you become a better informed candidate when you find your board certified dermatologist that you want to grow old with. Because it's not about piecemealing your face and getting your face on sale from one provider to the next. And it's not about deciding you want under eye fillers because it's a trend, because your face is not a trend.
