Hydroquinone is a skin-lightening ingredient used for melasma. Over-the-counter 2% versions can help but won't cure it. Prescription-strength hydroquinone at 4-8% or higher requires a doctor's supervision.

So hydroquinone is my jam. Love it. It's great for melasma. This guy right here. Difference dark spot Hydroquinone lightener is a great one, but I'm going to just warn you guys, I'm going to be pulled from the counters very soon. Ambie also has one quick add on. 2% over the counter can make a nice difference, but it's not going to be the end all be all. If you have bad melasma, you probably need an actual prescription which is starting at 4% up to 8%, sometimes even higher, but it has to be under the supervision of a doc. Just saying.
