Shereene Idriss argues that preventative Botox is impractical because it would require starting in adolescence to actually prevent lines. Instead, she recommends waiting until static lines are permanently visible, then using Botox to lessen their depth and keep them from deepening, not to erase them entirely.

No shit, Sherlock. Botox is not preventative, and that is why the concept of preventative Botox is bullshit. Preventative Botox by definition means you are preventing anything from forming, so you should start it before anything forms, aka when you're still a tiny little fetus. 18, 19, 20, 21. The only way that it's truly going to be preventative is if you stick to your Botox schedule every 3 months on the dot in perpetuity forever, if you never want to have a single line form on your face. Crazy and something I just can't stand behind. Lines are going to form, and when you stop it, they're going to come back. But when then do we start Botox? When our static lines, the lines at rest, are permanently on our face. But we do not start it before. And why then do we start Botox if the lines are going to come back? To minimize how deep they get over time. Think of it as giving your face moments of pause so that over time your lines do not become as deep. But you keep the essence of who you are alive and not to look embalmed chic forever. Same same, but very different.
