Whoever said more is more and more is better did not know their way around retinols. The trick to getting what you want out of your retinol is, and write this tagline down, consistency over intensity. I say this every single day in my practice. In order to get what you want from your retinol, you have to use it consistently. But if you're trying to go intense and use a higher percentage, a stronger percentage and even the next level of prescription, but your skin is freaking the F out in the process. What do I mean by freaking the F out? It's red, it's inflamed, it's flaking, it feels irritated, it's just not happy. What are you doing for yourself? Your skin is going to take a hit in the long run because inflammation leads to premature aging and breakdown of collagen and unwanted fine lines, which is counterintuitive because you're trying to use retinol to build your base and build your foundation.
