Sephora Sale Faves For Every Concern from a Dermatologist! (Skincare, Makeup, & Haircare) Dr. Idriss

In this YouTube video, cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Shereene Idriss walks viewers through the upcoming Sephora sale (April 14‑20) and builds shopping carts tailored to specific skin concerns. She explains the sale mechanics (VIB 15% off, Insider 10% off, Rouge up to 20% off) and links every recommendation to her own Sephora storefront. For each concern—dark spots, redness, acne, texture, under‑eye issues, wrinkles, dry skin, body, hair, and makeup—she recommends a curated set of products, often highlighting her own Dr. Idriss line and detailing active ingredients, usage frequency, price points, and how the products interact with makeup. Throughout, she shares her dermatologist perspective on why certain actives (e.g., kojic acid, azelaic acid, retinol, peptides) are effective, emphasizes consistency, and offers practical tips (e.g., layering, avoiding heavy foundation, applying under‑eye serums). The video concludes with a call to action to shop the Sephora storefront, try Dr. Idriss products, and leave questions for future updates.

It is April. For many, it's tax season, but for us, it's Sephora sale season because the biggest sale of the year is about to start and we start ready. So today we are going to be covering the Sephora sale. We're going to be building out our carts. We are going to be approaching this from the angle of your skin problems. What's the best skincare? What's the best makeup? Perfectly together so you can get the biggest bang for your buck. Additionally, I took it a step further and I created a Sephora storefront. So everything today is going to be linked to that storefront. So once you start putting products in your cart, they're going to stay there until the sale starts, which is for everyone on April 14th until the 20th. If you're a VIB member or if you're an insider, VIBs get 15% off, insiders get 10% off. But if you are a Rouge, you get up to 20% off starting on April 10th. For those of you new here, and if you do not know, I myself am a brand founder in addition to the fact that I am a cosmetic dermatologist who practices every day in New York City, and my brand is Dr. Idriss. Because of all of you who do know, we are also at Sephora. So I'm going to be talking about my products, incorporating it into this lineup, explaining to you guys my philosophy and why certain skincare products matter, especially within my line. If you have not tested it out, now is the time to test it out, because when is a better time to start something new than when you could save money on starting it before you fall in love? So without further ado, let's jump in, starting with dark spots. Now, as a cosmetic derm, dark spots are my— like, they're, they're just my heart and soul because This is where you as a human being, a consumer, a layperson, not a doctor, not someone with access to a cosmetic derm, can make the biggest difference. You can really clear your dark spots and get brighter skin through a solid, consistent skincare routine. Yes, I have access to all the lasers, but I don't use them because I also have melasma and I'm scared that it might trigger it. So the over-the-counter skincare routine can get you there. Now, a lot of patients ask me, what do I care if I'm going to cover it up? Sure, what do you care if you're going to cover it up? But for me, makeup is all about feeling more confident and not feeling like you're hiding underneath it. So if you can show up with more confident skin, you can show up with more radiant skin, and the makeup is just there to just, you know, boost your confidence— holy grail. And so the number 1 product within our Sephora picks for dark spots is my Hyper Serum. This is a powerhouse serum that comes with a refill for $68. Now you get to save during the sale. Why is it a powerhouse? Because it has kojic acid, arbutin, licorice root, niacinamide, diglycosyl gallic acid, in addition to the fact that it is hydrating upon application. And it gives an instant glow. Now, the instant glow doesn't mean that it's working instantly. It just gives you the oomph to keep carrying on because the name of the game is consistency. Number 2 is our new and improved Major Fade Active Seal 2.0, a 2-in-1 gel cream moisturizer with vitamin C, now with glutathione. It is a hydrating moisturizer that you can use twice a day. You can use this type of vitamin C 2 times a day. It doesn't just have vitamin C though. Like I said, it has glutathione now. It has 4 resorcinol, and it has peptides as well to help with the look of dark spots. So it really is a holy grail combination. Every single day I use it twice a day without fail since I've created the line. And if you're new and you want to test it out and you want to buy both, we have our Mini Major Fade Double Brightening Duo. This retails for $44. You get both products when you buy this. This will last you probably 2 weeks, enough to start to notice some changes, but really to see if your skin is comfortable with these products, if they integrate well with your life and they sit beautifully under your makeup, which they do for me. This is what I have on my skin today in addition to very light foundation and eye makeup, and I draw my eyebrows in as well as a little merit, which we'll get to in a minute. Okay, so that is what I like for skincare. Now if you are looking for cover-up and foundation, you can do several things. Right? Christian Dior has their beautiful Skin Tint Sticks, and what I like to do with these— I find them to be very, very heavy, so I will apply it to the back of my hand and I will sheer it out with Danessa Myricks Beauty Oil. This does give a little bit of the radiance that you're seeing. I do not like heavy foundation at all. I don't like to feel like heaviness is sitting on my face. I want it to be absolutely flawless and absolutely radiant, and those two products together are Chef's kiss. Now, if you have redness, and redness is the second form of discoloration that you have, it's a little bit trickier because there are multiple different causes for redness. But you can always treat that superficial redness with the Left on Red Reducer Serum, which we launched this year. This has a 10% azelaic acid complex. Most people who are red have an inflamed barrier or prone to rosacea. When you have rosacea and you have an inflamed barrier, your oil production tends to be out of whack. So the Left on Red Reducer Serum with the 10% azelaic acid complex is going to help to regulate how much oil you make so you're not a red oily mess. But it has this other thing called 18-glycerinic acid, which will decrease the look of irritation associated with redness. So this is one that I love to use if you find azelaic acid to be a little bit not elegant. I use it just at night. If it sits well with your skin and well with your skincare routine and makeup, you can absolutely use it twice a day. We also have at Dr. Idriss the Calm Back Cream underneath the same line. This has colloidal oatmeal and zinc PCA, so it is very soothing. It's great for really, really cold climates or if you live in a very dry environment. This one is really nice to use especially at night to help your skin so that it can restore itself overnight, calm its way back down, and so you can wake up on the less red and more hydrated In addition, if you're looking for something during the day, Dr. Jart+ has their Cicapair Soothing Color Correcting Serum— I'm sorry, Treatment SPF 30 for $54. It is relatively lightweight for redness in the morning, and it is a sunscreen that visibly corrects the look of redness. It is not necessarily for all skin tones, but if you are a low-maintenance human trying to look for a 2-in-1 sunscreen/makeup, this one is probably it if it matches your skin tone. And then from a makeup perspective, Huda Beauty and Laura Huda Beauty and Laura Mercier both launched redness blurring powders, which I think is really, really interesting for rosacea, especially Huda Beauty's. It is a green tinted powder that does kind of look and smell like matcha. All of her products are extremely delicious to smell and to use, so I will be linking those below. But I would probably take those and use those towards the end of your makeup application, especially in the red areas of your face. Now moving on to acne. Acne is one of those things that, you know, the products are never fun or sexy to use until now. We have quite a few in the roundup which I think you guys will thoroughly enjoy. Um, Sovi Pavit has her Mandelic Clearing Serum at 8%. It is a very lightweight acid. It is not something that is going to be great necessarily for people with really intense severe acne, but if you have the everyday blemish here or there and you're just trying to clear your skin without irritating it, It is absolutely beautiful and you can use this on the more regular side, but I would say use it just at night. Paula's Choice has a BHA toner, which is salicylic acid, and this is probably more geared towards people who have more intense acne or are really oily because BHA loves oil and that is going to go deeper into your skin. And this one retails for $35. Ole Henriksen has their Double Rewind Pro Grade Retinol Serum for $72, which is a great retinol for beginners. It is at 0.3%. And this is one that you can use at night. I will just say, regardless of where you are in your retinol journey, always be careful around your eyes and your mouth. Those areas tend to be the most sensitive, so don't try to go in fully face first. And I would try to space it out where maybe you're using the retinol once a week and working your way up to using it, I don't know, 2-3 times a week until you can tolerate more nights a week than not. The other retinol that I absolutely love is Shani Darden She has her Retinol Reform at now at 1%, and she does label the percentage of her retinol. So that is also a really nice one for someone who is more advanced. Want to use a serum to help to prevent and treat blemishes? Caudalie VinoPure Acne Serum is that. It has glucanolactone, which is the same exfoliating acid as the Dr. Idriss Lip Peel. And you can use this on your face. It is extremely gentle to use. And last but certainly not least, how do you combine something that is protective for acne-prone skin that also makes you look better. Ciele, Ciele, I don't know how you guys pronounce it, but C-I-E-L-E, have their Conceal and Protect SPF 50 Spot Concealer for dark spots. And I love this because not only is it a dark spot concealer, it is also protective with sunscreen. So you should use this especially if you have acne marks left behind because you definitely want to be protecting your skin from the sun. Now, if you have a lot of textural issues with our skin and we're trying to look just dewier, more plump, etc. I'm obsessed with my Major Fade Flash Mask, and I think the reason why my skin today— and like, I mean, I am feeling myself, I'm not gonna lie— um, is looking so good is because I also exfoliated last night using the Major Fade Flash Mask. This is an Allure Best of Beauty with 15% glycolic acid, 3% lactic acid, and tranexamic acid. It is an exfoliating mask that does also hydrate at the same time, and in Summertime, I maybe use it 2 times a week. In the wintertime, I'll go up to 4 times a week. And sometimes when I'm really, really lazy, I'll just put it on followed by the serum and the moisturizer, and we just go to sleep. So that is what I do, um, because I can tolerate it, and it gives you baby smooth skin the next day. Totally something perfected for texture, dryness, and beyond. Otherwise, if you're looking for something that is easier, faster, and on the go, for $92 you can get Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads, which come in these little packets. Easy for travel, easy on the go, and easy to put in your bag. Now, if we're talking about the under eyes, we're going to break down this problem, okay? Because not all under eye problems are created equal. Some under eye problems are due to basically puffiness that is reactive puffiness. So the puffiness gets worse, the puffiness becomes less worse, and that tends to be due to your vascular supply or your lymphatic supply. So that's something that you can help yourself with skincare. And I love my Dr. Idriss Depuffer. I use it around my eyes every morning like a lymphatic facial in a bottle. I roll it around. I wake up. By the time I get up, use the bathroom, brush my teeth, make my coffee, then jump in the shower, it's usually around 20-ish minutes. My eyes are depuffed by the time I come out of the shower. It doesn't mean you have to wash it off. But if it rinsed off lightly, it doesn't really bother me because it would have done already the effects that I was intending for it to do. Now, if we have dark circles, right, and we have dark circles due to pigmentation, the way you can usually tell this is if you take your phone and you usually have a light source like right above your head, right, and you could see without any shadowing, do I have pigment? If you have pigment, right, when I just went like this, you saw the shadowing, so that's why I had to go in front of the window. If you have pigment, then you want to address it with some sort of retinol or retinal, but you want one that is made specifically for the eyes. And The Beauty of Joseon has the Retinol Eye Cream. This one is gonna help to brighten and help boost collagen over time, but you can only use it at night. Do not use it on your upper eyelids. It's probably a recipe for disaster. Only down here. And I would start sparingly before I use it every night, just because you just don't know how sensitive you are until you know how sensitive you are. And it's not fun, and I don't want you guys to get get scared. Otherwise, you could totally use the Hyper Serum as an under-eye serum to help brighten if you have a lot of pigmentation there. If you have a lot of fine lines and wrinkles, the retinol eye cream that I just mentioned also helps. But this is where the Dr. Idriss Lip Peel helps. And you might be thinking, lip? I thought we're talking about under eyes. So my Lip Peel is a glucanolactone-based peel that you can use every night on your lips to keep your lips smooth. As long as you don't have any infections around your mouth, cold sores, etc., you could take that serum on the back of your hand and apply it lightly underneath your eyes as well, because we hardly ever exfoliate the skin under our eyes. And as we get older, our skin cells turn over slower, so our fine lines and wrinkles become more prominent because our skin doesn't renew itself as well. So if you're able to exfoliate it on a regular basis without irritating your under eyes, it is very helpful. And that's where using the lip peel under your eyes comes into play. Now, speaking of lines, let's go into crepey skin and wrinkles. So we talked about, um, Shani Darden, and we talked about the Ole Henriksen. But two other retinol products that I think are interesting are First Aid Beauty. They have one for $48, a 0.3% retinol complex, so it's probably lighter in terms of the retinol, but it's married to peptides, which is great if you're trying to look for additional supportive ways to help your aging skin. Otherwise, at $65, you also have Kiehl's Micro-Dose Retinol, which has ceramides as well. Now, the percentage with Kiehl's is not disclosed, so one can assume that it's probably on the lighter side. But if you have an inflamed skin barrier, you're prone to dry skin, etc., it's probably one that you to look for. And you're trying to find other things that help with the look of crepey skin or wrinkles. In Beauty Project's Extreme Cream, their viral cream that was totally off the charts last year, is available at $48, and it has 7% lifting peptides and ceramides, and it's great for elasticity in the neck area. I personally love this one, and this is a time to buy it because it's a splurge. It's the Clarins Double Serum. It's just heavenly. It is nice, it is chewy, it is yummy on your skin. It also has a beautiful scent, so So from an experiential point of view, it really is all embalming, um, and I think you guys should try it out or gift it. The person you gift it to will highly enjoy it. Um, and then if you're trying to be more on a budget, then Paula's Choice has for $49 her Pro-Collagen Peptide Cream, which is relatively lightweight but still cushiony in texture. That is nice if you're looking for something that is going to help to promote collagen production, and it has those pro-collagen peptides in them. It doesn't have full collagen because full collagen alone is just a great hydrator. It's never going to promote collagen production. Um, from a device standpoint, you guys ask me about LED devices all the time. The one at Sephora that I would probably recommend is probably the Higher Dose Red Light LED Face Mask. If you're gonna do it, I will say if you have melasma like me, just avoid it. It. It's not worth it. I do not use a red light LED because it wakes up my spots and it makes me very unhappy. Not a happy camper. Now, what do we do if we have dry skin? Okay, if we have dry skin, then we have the SK-II Pitera Essence. This is the time to test that one. It— Pitera with SK-II is all about holding on to hydration and making the other products that apply afterwards work stronger for you. Plus it has fermented galactomyces yeast extract, and it really does help to refine that superficial texture. The ladies at Dior have their Instant Angel Lipid Rich Firming Moisturizer, which is nice as well. If you live somewhere very humid, it might be a little bit too rich, but if you are very dry and you live somewhere dry, this is a great barrier moisturizer for super dry skin. And oftentimes I've heard patients use it even after putting the Hyper Serum or the Active Seal if they want a little bit of more of a hydrating boost. Now, I love this one, and this is one that I've always loved, but Kiehl's has their mask. I don't necessarily use it as a mask. I use it as a moisturizer, and it is extremely nourishing. They have their Ultra Facial Glacial Mask, and then they have their Squalane Mask, which is the one overnight. Their Ultra Facial is so nice. This squalane, you can sleep with it overnight and consider it like a more elevated face basting situation. But the other thing I will say, if you have dry skin and you're looking to have more of a radiant glow, I will tell you, do not sleep on the Danessa Myricks Beauty Oil. It is très très chic. Now for the body, Augustinus Bader has their body cream. Cream. Now I know for the body people don't usually spend money, especially not in the US, but this is one where you're gonna get a lot more bang for your buck because you could probably just use it on your face as well. It is rich, it is thick, it's not for the oily people out there, but it deeply hydrates. And if you get that much more and a bigger bang for your buck, pourquoi pas? I would buy the Augustinus Bader body cream. And then for $42, if you have the chicken skin and the rough skin on your arms and legs, Izdin's Uridin-10 is a great cream for rough skin with urea. For hair, Amika launched this new powder, which is a conditioning leave-in spray. It's a— I said a powder because usually in a canister it's usually a powder, but it's a spray. It's a leave-in conditioning spray that you can spray the tips of your hair with, especially for like 3-day-old hair that you haven't necessarily washed or if you're using the dry shampoo, you know how the edges can get a little bit crunchy. This is amazing. I, I discovered it when I was in Canada 2 weeks ago. It is a game changer and honestly something that you guys should look into, especially if you suffer from split ends and you kind of have that like frayed end look. I would highly recommend it. I sadly did not have it with me here last night, otherwise I would have used it, but I did not have time to brush or dry my hair. I'm going on 3 hours of sleep. So that is Amika. I love Living Proof's Scalp Exfoliator. This is a beautiful exfoliating treatment for your scalp, especially if you're somebody who uses dry shampoo. I would highly recommend you do this like once or twice a week, and your scalp feels so clean, as does your hair. And Nutrafol. Nutrafol, Nutrafol. If we're talking about hair and you want more hair, Nutrafol, vegan. Is the one I like. It does not have any biotin in it. Is it going to grow you like a Chia Pet? Probably not, but it allows your hair to stay on your head longer, so it really does give the fuller effect of hair, and I like it. And then last, there's Color Wow Dream Coat, which is, I mean, a dream. I definitely use it when I dry my hair. It is a beautiful treatment that even my hairdresser uses. And if you're gonna look for a hair dryer, why not buy one now? If you want to— if you've been eyeing the Dyson Airwrap, that is something that I would tell you to put in your cart. The other thing I have recently tried, um, that I think I'm a little bit later to the game with because I tried it once, I didn't understand it, and I kind of let go of it until now, is the K18 mask. So you guys know all about that one. Shall we move on to full-on makeup stuff? Let's— I'm gonna bring my bag. Moving on to makeup, I do not start anything without using my lip peel and lip balm. Those are in my bathroom, these are in my makeup bag. So things I absolutely love, I mentioned to you guys the Dior Foundation Stick, um, it is in 1N if you're looking for my color. I don't think anybody should be using my color, pale as hell. And then I use the Yves Saint Laurent number 2 as slight under-eye brightener, if anything. It's very, very light. I never apply it underneath my eyes. I always put it to the back of my hands first. And then for mascara, I usually— today was not the day that I did this. I have two. I always put the blue one by YSL first, followed by a second coat of the Tower 28 Make Waves in black. It gives an illusion of like blue without being too in your face. And people ask me every day because I'm up in people's faces treating them, what do you have on your eyes? And it's usually these two mascaras. It's a little bougie, but you know what, it's okay to be a bougie bitch every once in a while. And I love Hong Van Ho's— do I call him Van Ho? Hong Van Gogh's— I'm so tired— brown eyeliners. I have them in different shades. I actually don't even know which one I wear, whichever one I pick up. I literally bought like 3 of them because I didn't know I was buying different ones. Um, but they are great. From a lipstick perspective, oh, I always feel très chic and I think of her each time I use it. Violette FR. Like, look at this, you don't even have to look where you're going, you're not gonna mess it up. Love, uh, Bisous Balm. It's so bisous bisous chic chic chic. Okay, and Merit is what I had on before I put on the Bisous Balm in Andy. Okay, so those are lipsticks that I like between Hung Vanngo and Makeup by Mario. This is a classic, it's literally been with me almost 2 years, um, so that is that. So I can't speak highly enough about that. And then I have been utilizing more blush as of late, um, I've been playing with blush a little bit more. I think as I've entered my 40s, I've just decided to play a little bit more with makeup but I really love Huda Beauty's Toasty Peach palette. It doesn't feel too loud and in your face, and it gives like just a nice little on your cheeks. So that is what I recommend for here. And I have tried— I'm just not good at it, nor do I have the bandwidth, but I do love the consistency of MPH's palettes when it comes to contouring your face, but it's not something I do on the regular at all. And there you have it, guys and gents and ladies and girls. I hope you enjoyed this video. I will link everything below. If there's more products that come up, because I'm sure there will be over the course of our next week, I will continuously update my Sephora storefront so that this could continuously be a comprehensive list that people can turn to. I want that storefront to live long term so you can always have a place to turn to within the Sephora app if you are looking to buy products and you want to know if I like them or I recommend them. And yeah, I hope you guys have a beautiful Saturday. Happy shopping, happy sales event. And if you haven't tried Dr. Idriss yet, this is the time to try. I'll see you guys next week. And if you have any questions, as always, leave them below.
